Julie Are there American soldiers out there shooting young girls for going to school?

Emanuela I don't understand your point.

S A Julie, you might want to think about the question you're asking. The media presents to us what we want to hear.It has more influence on us than we know. The fact, though, still remains that Malala is a true inspiration and a courageous person, and for that we all admire her. However, sadly, once you think about it in depth, forgetting religion and politics, with a rational mind, Malala's story would not have been heard if an American soldier was involved.Sadly, that's the world we live in today. When was the last time you heard of a terrorist on Sky News that wasn't a "Muslim" ? Nevertheless, Malala is an amazing role model who we should all respect. Crimes shouldn't be divided into muslim and non-muslim. While you might be an American patriot,(which totally alright),you need to remember that journalists are doing their job in their own interests and that we should evaluate our opinions and think whether we want another person to sell us our thoughts. We need to take inspiration from Malala and face the harsh reality of the facts by speaking out as she did. I would really love to say that if an American soldier shot Malala everyone would know, but deep down we know that that isn't the case. I sincerely hope I delivered this in the most polite and sensitive way possible. As a Muslim, I understand what the questioner intended by asking this. Let's not all criticize him, but ask ourselves why such a question could even be asked.

Amelie Koury Except that Malala wasn't shot because of her religious beliefs, she was shot for defending girls education when those in power were forcing girls out of school, closing schools, etc. She was speaking out, publicly, against this and speaking out about the importance of education for girls.
You don't even have to read the book to know this. It was the first time the Taliban targeted a young girl like this. It's why she became "famous". Her religion had nothing to do with why the attempted murder of a 13 year old girl made global news.

asiya | アセヤ (free palestine) @Amelie Koury As a Muslim, I understand why the questioner asked this question. Please don't criticize him, but instead understand. It is EXTREMELY true that the media only loves to focus on Muslim girls getting oppressed and not other girls around the world, especially since we live in a dominantly Christian country, that is why I HIGHLY appreciate S A's response and Emanuela's response as well. Please keep an open and very insightful mind.
