That is a brave thing to tell your own story. It must have been a challenging journey.
My young daughter was about to embark on her high school adventure and get on her 1st high school bus. Then the trouble began to rear its ugly head. She told me that one of the older students started harassing her for sex the moment she got on the bus.
"Dad, I don't want to ride that bus!" I saw her point and wanted to get ahead of her pain. In other words I would shield her when I could. This was one of those 'could' moments.
She was a beautiful young lady and took after her mom for looks. From that day forward I took her every day to school myself, because I understood her pain. Being one of seven siblings, I knew what being harassed was all about, but with no one guarding my right or left flank.
As she advanced into high school, she also became a paid Barbizon model and won awards at National American Miss pageants. In her senior year, to throw off a number of advances by guys, she decided on getting her hair cut and wear a pixie cut.
This only made the field a little broader as the girls all liked her too. LOL
P.S. Now, since attending college, and with the news that her mom had cancer and might lose all of her hair, my daughter had her head buzzed in honor of her mom.
Now all her classmates and her teachers admire such a brave show of devotion and affection.
