I've never understood other writers leaping to Rothfuss' defence. Rothfuss did more to prevent people buying the 1st books in a series than anyone else, ever.
Thing that gets me is .. He repeatedly said he had all 3 books written before he even published the first one.
Please don’t do this! Rothfuss and Martin are annoying and very large examples of this problem, but the vast majority of authors are small and write quickly because they don’t feel nearly as much pressure to satisfy the fanbase. When you wait for a series to be finished for a smaller author, especially if it is a debut novel, you could be aiding in jeapordizing their career. Whether the author gets another contract is often heavily dependent on the sales of the first book. If you don’t buy the first book, you may not get the chance to read the second. Obviously, with larger authors this isn’t an issue, because they have a big enough fan base, but this general mindset is harmful.
It's same to me,i am in heavy book hangover after each book or series.I finished half hour ago Rhythm of War ,and now i can't explain how sad i fell ,i know it will pass but il need few days :(.I think i will re-read again all stormlight books, then i will be sad again ,or i just should stop reading books. But reading good book keep my mind of my real life ,which bring great sadness to me,reason is personal.I can only thank Sanderson for writing long books, not 200-300 pages, but 1000+ ,so they last,u enjoy them allot.....life is sooo hard :(.
It is! But there are plenty of wonderful books out there, and finishing one means that you can read more. Let me know if you want more fantasy recommendations.
Yeah I don't love re-reading books any more than I love rewatching a movie. I started Wheel of time in the 80's in college... got so wrapped up in it until I found out the next one wasn't written yet. I started reading them again in 2013 when I could finally get to read them all through at once. I can't even imagine reading them between vast pauses.

What anoyes me the most is when authors decide they are going to make a side storyline for the next book..And ignore the main storyline. Or write up a stupid prequil .. (see David weber and his BS.) Can't tell you how many times i have read that series and he still
hasn't finished it. NEVER AGAIN
