Your books do a great job appealing to a wide audience. I read Sheila the Great countless times as a child. Since then, I have really enjoyed Wifey, Summer Sisters, and In the Unlikely Event!
I teach ESL in South Korea, and we use many of Judy Blume's books in our classes. These are timeless stories with great characters and lessons learned, so all of our students both girls and boys love her stories. Thank you!
It is so gratifying to hear you say this, not that I am surprised. I read a bunch of your books as a kid, including Margaret, but every time I see an article about you, it only mentions that girls read your books.
You are a great author. Is "Are You There God, It's Me, Margret" based on a story from your own life?
I love hearing this! I was never allowed to read a lot of your preteen books growing up, but I was allowed to read the Fudge books (even though they were about a boy) and I loved them! Now I'm going back and reading some of the other ones and finding that they're great too. From what I've read so far, they'd be great stories for anyone to read, boy or girl.
...I've read them as a child, and as an adult. Just as relevant but a new point of view from a more mature age.
That was my life too! I read your books as a teen, like ' Are You There God, It's Me Margaret' and loved it, but I'm a guy.
My dad read "Are You There God It's Me Margaret" too so i agree with you Judy Blume authors should never make only girl books and only boy books.
I could reverse that. I learned more about Boys after reading Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing than any sex education class....
you have been one of my favorite authors growing up as a kid i loved your books, Beverly Clearly, Bruce Coville, sorry about my bad spelling if i spelled his last name wrong. James Howe, Nancy McArthur, i think your Fudge Books are my favorite though some of your books are for a female audience i think but i'd say the vast majority aren't. but maybe i'm wrong i dunno
