Lilly That's true. I believe it has cussing, but it is not frequent. The sequels are a lot more intense regarding the fighting scenes. The vocabulary isn't too high, though I think she might have to search up the meaning of some words. It might scare her a little too. I wouldn't really recommend it for her, but if she could handle more intense content then it's okay.

Laura Yes. I agree with this comment. I am reading this with 7th graders to bring out the multigenre aspects as well as the multiple themes or connections to society. Background knowledge helps or maybe I'm hopeful to inspire some inquiry. Otherwise it may just be a complicated story.

Sini I agree it depends on what themes she can handle. Me at 9 no way. There is much about disease and dying.

Emma Harper I think for most kids that’s true I think most kids that age couldn’t handle it but I know I first read it in 4th grade.
