Brok3n Your final remark reminds me that in her Acknowledgnents for /Six of Crows/, Leigh Bardugo wrote:

I have a degenerative condition called osteonecrosis. This basically translates to “bone death,” which sounds kind of gothy and romantic, but actually means that every step I take is painful and that I sometimes need to walk with a cane. It’s no coincidence I chose to create a protagonist struggling with similar symptoms, and I often felt that Kaz and I were limping along this road together.
Kaz, for those who haven't read SoC, is male.

Brzk ... that the flow of experiences between author and readers, and characters, is ... shared ?! Although authors seem to receive the inferior product of unrefined feedback from their audience. Can we say - the denser the experience, the better the author? And very rarely - as is the case with Lois's work - the magic is there.

Conniption Virtue Since Desdemona resided in Lois's head for years before she passed Des on to Penric, we could think of Lois as one of Des's previous riders, much like Ruchia.
