Dianne I have read both and see nothing similar between the characters. . Just my opinion. Liked Oliphant but loved Zotts character!

Rebecca Reeder I , too, have read both books, and Eleanor Oliphant never once came to mind. Zott and Oliphant do not seem in the least bit similar to me. I loved Zott and "tolerated" Oliphant.

Laura Bazal I agree that Eleanor Oliphant didn't come to mind, either, but I could see that, perhaps, the significantly difficult upbringing and the social challenges were similar. I'd think the most divergent piece between these two characters is that, while Eleanor's shortcomings were detrimental to her, Elizabeth's were merely factual.
