That was actually a DIFFERENT boy who made a DIFFERENT claim about going to heaven: Alex Malarkey, who (with his father and his "Christian therapist") wrote "The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven."
Yes, MAP, you're right. This boy, that boy... that man, that woman. The one I was thinking about is the Burpo family, the little boy in "Heaven is for Real." The one that recanted is, as you said, "The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven." Thanks for pointing out my mistake. I usually do much better research before posting.
Peekaboo...you may want to Google the book title. I believe there were two books on this subject that came out within a five year period. This book subject doesn't interest me at all therefore I don't read them. I recall this info on the news. However, I freely admit to being a news junkie so this info is based only on my memory which is why I suggest you verify through other avenues.
So, a few months ago I read Heaven Is For Real by Todd Burpo. I do not follow any sort of news, and I kind of live under a rock. I want to know if the family recanted or not. I've heard some rumors (emphasis on rumors) on Goodreads that the family recanted. Then others said that was a completely different book with a similar title, and still others said that the Burpos recanted on TV. So there is a lot of confusion on this subject, and I just want to clear things up.
Well, Peekaboo...you won't get an answer asking here or anywhere on Goodreads that I know of. You should Google it and read what comes up. Other than that I don't know what else to say. Rumors don't work but news outlets do. Sorry I can't help you more.
