I absolutely agree. If Verity did want to leave the house with Crew, she could have done so after locking Jeremy and Lowen in the master bedroom. She could've just asked Lowen for help instead of creeping her out. She could've called Amanda up and asked her to prove her innocence but she didn't try anything. Simply because all that the manuscript stated, was the truth I presume. She was just being manipulative with that letter of hers and wanted Lowen to feel guilty for taking away Jeremy from her.
I think Verity didn't leave the house with Crew when she locked Lowen and Jeremy in the closet because she was waiting for the money for the books;
My question is, why risk outing herself as uninjured by locking Lowen and Jeremy in the bedroom just so she could write the letter when she could have continued to bide her time a few more days, wait for the money, and send him a letter from abroad? Also, they seemed to have plenty of money, why not just leave them locked in the room, leave with Crew, and drain the accounts before morning? I think the letter was just to fuck with Lowen and Jeremy.

- she DID have something to hide that wasn’t her daughters death - her wellness. so i feel like that explains her lying to crew?
- idk abt his reaction to the manuscript it is questionable to me
Other than that i totally agree! what a well written book that leaves so much ambiguity :)
