I'm telling myself it's just a different old woman who died and Brynn just assumed it was the same woman cause trauma lol
It's definitely Brynn's body that LuAnn finds. Remember that Brynn says the picture of the old lady looks familiar? And at the end the old lady says she is giving the copy of the Illustrated Man to young "ghost" Brynn.
But it makes no sense because how did Old Brynn's body transport back to the "present" for LuAnn to find? It's not you -- it's very sloppy writing.
I don't know if I read a revised copy, but the story clearly stated the older Brynn came back because of her memories and wanted to be close to where she & Dominic met and how she ended up in rm 5. She also came to realize her 'ghost' was her younger self. As she was dying, Dominic came to transition her too.
