H I wouldn't take a completely metaphorical interpretation of the House- there are various clues as to it existing externally (as opposed to just inside the head), though all are somewhat ambiguous: multiple people visiting the house, and giving similar accounts; and objects from other world visiting the house and vice-versa (Piranesi's hair ornaments).

H 16/Raphael also makes a remark that the pathways were literal, rather than metaphysical as she had expected.

Elaine Kehoe I find it hard to understand how the House could exist in the real world, considering its size and the presence of the "ocean." Piranesi says once that it took him days to reach another part of the house. I picture it as perhaps another dimension. And why no furniture in the House?

Laura T All the things he witnessed in the house exist in the world too. The beauty of the world is immeasurable and the kindness of the house has allowed him to witness it.
