This is true. Have you seen the guy who plays Gwnplaine in the new French adaptation of L'homme Qui Rit? He's gorgeous. This is causing a serious conflict between my scholarly brain, who says that they defeated the point by casting him, and my teenage girl brain who says, but...he's hot... The world does not need a similar situation with Quasimodo in Notre Dame.

True that. People would be biased because of his looks. That is completely getting rid of the logic of the story, which is Quasimodo is hated because of his ugliness. Viewers would be angry because Quasi would be getting bullied despite his handsomeness, and everyone would forget to fall in love with his personality instead.
