Rade I do agree with you on Kubrick's style. For me it was intense. The music, the atmosphere (trapped by snow), and the creepy history of the hotel is what made the movie work. However, I have to disagree about your description of King. For most of the books that he wrote, I always found every sentence to have real important meaning. He does not write too much extra details that are not necessary...except for IT. He went crazy with that one. hahah

Jeni I agree. Kubrick is a genius with atmosphere, but King is a genius for the back story and taking the ordinary and making it terrifying.

Rade exactly. I mean look it his book IT. It has a clown in it. Many people are afraid of it and if they read his book, they would be terrified. Simple concept, amazing execution.
