I agree with your argument, Friar did play a big part in Romeo and Juliet after all he is the one who married them. But you are right he also gave Juliet the poison, which made her think it was okay for her to kill herself and then the snowball affect.
I think it is the hatred between the families that caused the death of Romeo and Juliet, because in the beginning it states that only their children's death can bury their strife. This proves that it is the families fault for their deaths. Even though Friar Lawrence had a small part in Romeo and Juliet's death, if it weren't for the feud, Romeo and Juliet would have had a more pleasant ending.
I agree with Dheeraj P because the hatred between the Capulets and Montagues played a huge roll in this story. In the Prologue it stated, “From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, // Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean // …. // Do with their death bury their parents' strife.” (Shakespeare). Meaning that the two families have always hated each other. If you think about it, having two children fall in love with each other from the feuding families- it is overwhelming, shocking, and not apportion. Although it may not prove why the two killed themselves. The history of their two family contributed a huge amount to the death of Romeo and Juliet.
