Agreed. I saw the first book and thought - they don't have, at least, as separate category for memoir/biography.
Richard wrote: ""a physics professor determined to be the first woman in space. NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, circa 1984..."
What in the American myopia is this?"
"one" of the first

Agreed. And a category for historical fiction, but no category for history.

Because men don't read books by women?"
Its tone. I'm a woman and don't see anything interesting either.

I read more and more older titles every year.
There are authors I've read like Backman,King, and McFadden, but I always like to find new authors (debut) by reading the paragraph written or by word of mouth, too.
Ken wrote: "Maybe I'm a nerd. I admit it totally. But I'm really up for Ron Chernow's bio on Mark Twain. Can't wait!"
Me too!
Thank you for this list !!!!! How will I find the time in 2025 for all the greatness to come and the ones still on my TBR from before !
My most anticipated book for 2025 is Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros. I am surprised to find that it was not on this list, although it really doesn't matter. However, I will say that it is one of the most captivating fantasy series/books that I've ever read.
I'm not good at keeping up with new releases, so these lists really help me to be on the loop for new books! So excited to read a few of those books next year!

its pathetic that you let some bland culture war bs affect your life, arent you tired? your experience of the world will change when your mindset changes,, chew on that.
Not enough people know about "Hey, Mary!" by Andrew Wheeler. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Trust me, its a good one!
Does anyone else hate book recs that start with "check out that fabulous cover"?
I'm already looking at it. It's right next to the synopsis I'm currently reading. I'm reading the synopsis because I saw the cover and it made me want to know about what's inside the book. It kind of seems like you don't actually have anything possitive to say about what's inside the book.
Ken wrote: "Maybe I'm a nerd. I admit it totally. But I'm really up for Ron Chernow's bio on Mark Twain. Can't wait!"
I am so with you. Chernow is a remarkable writer, and I am so looking forward to his insights on Mark Twain.

Absolutely with you on this one.

The Love Haters by Katherine Center ,
It's a Love Story by Annabel Monaghan,
Don't let him in by Lisa Jewell,
Forget me not by Stacy Willingham,
Merry Christmas, you filthy animal by Meghan Quinn,
The Business Trip by Jessie Garcia,
Scythe & Sparrow by Brynne Weaver,
Close your eyes and count to 10 by Lisa Unger

And it has disturbed me that I can't even peruse a Goodreads comment section without being met with multiple bouts of casually overt misogyny, but I guess we can't always get what we want huh?
Rather disappointing, the lack of nonfiction titles on this list, compared to the huge number of fiction titles. That said, I've been a Stephen King fan since a kid in the 1970s, so for better or worse I'm going to have to read his new one.
steph wrote: "My TBR just got so much fatter! An anticipated novel I haven’t seen mentioned is One of You by Erin E. Adams. If you haven’t read her debut novel Jackal, this is your sign to go read it right now!"
IKR! like they deserve to be up there! but tbh its probably because of the amount of hate they're getting for no logical reason and Goodreads probably didn't wanna get into that for obvious reasons. 🙄
It’d be nice if GR made a comprehensive and detailed search system where we could easily find new releases of any genre and also just books in general, it’s impossible to find anything with how things are right now.

Go to https://www.goodreads.com/genres. Enter the genre you want in the search box and click Find Genre, or click on one of the links on the right. The new releases tagged with that genre should be at the top of the page.

Yes. Arts, Science, Technology, Pyschology/Behavioural Economics, Social Sciences. I’d love to see what’s due in a broader selection of categories.
One of the benefits of the list of new books for 2025 is browsing them and finding the books written in the past by the authors. I added several of them to my reading lists.

I can't wait to read this but last I saw, it has been delayed until a 2026 release.
Avi wrote: "I have nothing against fiction, but perhaps consider that maybe 8 categories for fiction and just 1 for non-fiction is a bit unbalanced? Thanks."
it's because there's a higher population of fiction readers than nonfiction readers.

Totally agree. Should also be sub-categorized. Memoirs, History, Politics, Autobiographies, Self Help, Educational, Business, etc.

Very disappointed by not seeing children's novels here
