6. The Manor of Dreams by Christina Li - debut novel! Horror & Gothic - this should be good

8. Lightfall by Ed Crocker - books 1 of a new series and I would like a new series to be longing for the next installment

Maybe that's the right ratio of how readers are spread out? 8:1? But then again I am with you, and agree...

On Earth We Are Briefly Gorgeous is the best novel I've ever read and Vuong's prose is just emaculate. I haven't read any by Fredrik Backman but I do own A Man Called Ove, but heard really good things about him so kinda excited.

message 131: by Natalie (new)

Natalie havens Sevda wrote: "nah no way they didn't put these 2 soon to be masterpieces

Ikr?! I can't wait to read them!

Annica ⚡️ annica_reads_books ⚡️ One of my most anticipated books is Eldritch by Keri Lake. It's the second book in her dark fantasy romance series, called The Eating Woods. The first book was released this year: Anathema. Brilliant story and author!

Annica ⚡️ annica_reads_books ⚡️ I have a feeling that Water Dust by Fern Rivers will be released in 2025, and I cannot wait. Fern Rivers is the fantasy pen name for Pepper Winters, and her work is brilliant. I cannot wait to see what she comes up with!

message 134: by Tina (new)

Tina There isn't any of those books that catch my eye. Never heard of any of those authors. I only read very clean rom-coms

Agreed!

message 143: by sini (new)

sini WHERE IS SHEEE Love Arranged

message 144: by Jude Fischer (new)

Jude Fischer It has disturbed me that the majority of books promoted are written by women. I know men write novels, don't they? I guess it's what's in vogue right now. I am a woman myself but do not like women writers as a whole. I get fatigued by all the constant introspection and talking about feelings. Give me a Jussie Adler Olsen or James S A Corey any day.

message 145: by Kirinna (new)

Kirinna Lots of interesting books! Especially in the horror category, hopefully I'll get to explore that genre more next year.

message 146: by Scott (new)

Scott McVicker Anji Kills a King

Looking forward to this one.

message 147: by Leah (new)

Leah Howard So much whining in these comments, geez. Thank you Goodreads for this wonderful free site and these suggestions. I look forward to many more lists to come in the New Year.

Here's another one that I'm particularly excited for, if others are interested...

Marble Hall Murders

message 148: by KP (new)

KP H Agree with @Avi Eisenman, there are so many subgenres in nonfiction. I almost exclusively read history or science in nonfiction, and would never read self-help or most memoirs. Would be nice to have it further divided so I don’t waste time sifting through genres I don’t care about.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) Do people bother to read the titles and write-ups of these lists? They whine about this or that book not appearing, as if anyone could make an exhaustive list of every single anticipated upcoming release.

Says right in the title and opening paragraph where they get these books from:

Readers’ Most Anticipated Books of 2025

"This is the time when the Goodreads editorial team pivots to track all incoming books slated for publication in the new year (in the U.S.). We crunch the numbers on the books that are showing up most often on members’ Want to Read shelves. That data informs our curated list of the Most Anticipated new releases."
