The house of my mother by Shari Franke is top of my three this new year!

I know right!!!! That's what I thought as well, I legit have count downs for these.
I'm kind of excited for Onyx Storm, but I don't know since I didn't really like Iron Flame.....loved Fourth Wing tho.
I love these lists!
My most anticipated are:
1. When the Moon Hits Your Eye by John Scalzi - always fun scifi romp
2. Dissolution by Nicholas Binge - scifi/technothriller, sounds amazing
3. Katabasis by R.F. Kuang - I have gotten to the point of reading anything/everything by Kuang
4. The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones - Horror, history, and indigenous people: the trifecta of a good book
5. The Unworthy by Agustina Bazterrica - after I read Tender is the Flesh, I had to take a brief break from reading to just think
6. The Manor of Dreams by Christina Li - debut novel! Horror & Gothic - this should be good
7. Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix - it has been a minute since I heard the phrase "wayward girls," need to see how this one plays out
8. Lightfall by Ed Crocker - books 1 of a new series and I would like a new series to be longing for the next installment
9. The Emperor of Gladness by Ocean Vuong - another author I feel compelled to read everything they have written (loved On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous)
10. Bat Eater and Other names for Cora Zeng by Kyie Lee Baker - sounds crazy good
Where's Elly Griffiths? Where's C. J. Box? There are a lot of good books listed here but these authors need there works on the list too. Much anticipated:
The Frozen People by Elly Griffiths and Battle Mountain by C. J. Box
I would love to see more nonfiction and international authors which will have books translated to English.
Another one Im SOO excited for it The Antidote by Karen Russell! She is my all time fav author and so underrated. Her writing is absolutely fantastic and her plot lines have funky elements of magical realism woven throughout. The AntidoteKaren Russell
Looks interesting. Here are a few more to add to the list for the first half of 2025:
The Bookseller--T. Sullivan
Chain Reaction--J. Byrne
Midnight Black--M. Greaney
The Beijing Betrayal--J. Rosenberg
Cry Havoc--J. Carr
Red Falcon--C. Sullivan
Cold Burn--Landau/Ayers

period cause fearless is gonna hit so hard!!
Avi wrote: "I have nothing against fiction, but perhaps consider that maybe 8 categories for fiction and just 1 for non-fiction is a bit unbalanced? Thanks."
Maybe that's the right ratio of how readers are spread out? 8:1? But then again I am with you, and agree...
This is missing The Sirens by Emilia Hart (Weyward) coming out April 1st, and How to Seal Your Own Fate by Kristen Perrin (How to Solve Your Own Murder) coming out April 25th.
While I have an Australian copy already, The Book Thief author Marcus Zusak's Three Wild Dogs is set to be released in the US in late January 2025... memoir
For everyone saying „why is Lauren Robert’s not in this?!“ maybe because Goodreads know not to support authors that do plagiarism

agree.... not even balanced a bit
I'm definitely most excited for Onyx Storm (Rebecca Yarros) And Everything Is Tuberculosis (John Green. My Favorite Author) Already pre-ordered them!
Avi wrote: "I have nothing against fiction, but perhaps consider that maybe 8 categories for fiction and just 1 for non-fiction is a bit unbalanced? Thanks."
Genuinely, would love to see a bit more non-fiction depth.
I'm really excited about The Emperor Of Gladness by Ocean Vuong and My Friends by Fredrik Backman
On Earth We Are Briefly Gorgeous is the best novel I've ever read and Vuong's prose is just emaculate. I haven't read any by Fredrik Backman but I do own A Man Called Ove, but heard really good things about him so kinda excited.

Ikr?! I can't wait to read them!
One of my most anticipated books is Eldritch by Keri Lake. It's the second book in her dark fantasy romance series, called The Eating Woods. The first book was released this year: Anathema. Brilliant story and author!
I have a feeling that Water Dust by Fern Rivers will be released in 2025, and I cannot wait. Fern Rivers is the fantasy pen name for Pepper Winters, and her work is brilliant. I cannot wait to see what she comes up with!
There isn't any of those books that catch my eye. Never heard of any of those authors. I only read very clean rom-coms

Agreed!
It has disturbed me that the majority of books promoted are written by women. I know men write novels, don't they? I guess it's what's in vogue right now. I am a woman myself but do not like women writers as a whole. I get fatigued by all the constant introspection and talking about feelings. Give me a Jussie Adler Olsen or James S A Corey any day.
Lots of interesting books! Especially in the horror category, hopefully I'll get to explore that genre more next year.
So much whining in these comments, geez. Thank you Goodreads for this wonderful free site and these suggestions. I look forward to many more lists to come in the New Year.
Here's another one that I'm particularly excited for, if others are interested...
Marble Hall Murders
Agree with @Avi Eisenman, there are so many subgenres in nonfiction. I almost exclusively read history or science in nonfiction, and would never read self-help or most memoirs. Would be nice to have it further divided so I don’t waste time sifting through genres I don’t care about.

Best reply!
Do people bother to read the titles and write-ups of these lists? They whine about this or that book not appearing, as if anyone could make an exhaustive list of every single anticipated upcoming release.
Says right in the title and opening paragraph where they get these books from:
Readers’ Most Anticipated Books of 2025
"This is the time when the Goodreads editorial team pivots to track all incoming books slated for publication in the new year (in the U.S.). We crunch the numbers on the books that are showing up most often on members’ Want to Read shelves. That data informs our curated list of the Most Anticipated new releases."
