Best of luck with the surgeries, for sure. I hope the woods and mountains are not far off.
"Short History" will always be there for me, thanks to Cynthia, who first introduced your work to me lo these decades ago.
If this really is your last novel (or even if it's not), thanks for all you've written.
Thanks, Mike. I'm hoping to be back to hiking soon.
Cynthia has certainly spread the word, for which I'm grateful.
Mr Pearson,
I only discovered your work recently, but I absolutely love your westerns. Your unique voice is needed in this genre. I hope you get recharged and write many more westerns, but hey, that's selfish on my part. Enjoy your life and thanks for adding to mine.
Hi John,
I'm pleased to hear you've enjoyed the westerns. They were a genuine pleasure to write, and if I ever get recharged, I might just pound out a few more.
I appreciate your kind words and good wishes.
Nope. I would appreciate your pulling back from retiring until I die or something. Oh fine. You deserve to do whatever you want. But, let me say this. I have read nearly every one of your books over the course of many years. Invariably, once I finish one of them and begin another book by another author, I have to push beyond their dull, boring, flavorless, "normal" construction of a sentence. Seriously, it takes me a while. No one creates a sentence/paragraph/book like you do.
I appreciate your good opinion, but I'm kind of out of words at the moment. I've felt this way before, so I'm hoping I'll get back in the groove somehow. I'm reading a "normal" book myself just now. It's making me sleepy.
Thanks for checking in.
TR, I have loved all your books very much, and I'm sorry if they did not give back to you as you had hoped. Your readers will await a change of heart. Hope is the thing with feathers, perching in MY heart that we will learn one day that you're back at it, humor and insight all intact, doing your inimitable thing which has been my favorite thing to read for decades now. Meanwhile, think on this: expectations are pre-meditated resentments. Words from an ex-student turned counselor that get me past a lot of disappointments. I think we keep on for reasons unrelated to what we expected from others.
Hi Dana,
No disappointment on my end. Writing has been a great pleasure for me for these past thirty-some years. I'm merely a little worn out just now and am enjoying my break from typing. I'm grateful for your good opinion of my books, and I may, in time, locate the energy to produce another novel or three. Here's hoping for that.
Thanks for checking in.
Oh, my, I’m just seeing this! So many emotions. I, too, as someone mentioned above, have long named you as one of my two favorite authors, Stephen King being the other.
I have loved your books so much, and I maintain that you have written some of the funniest scenes in modern American literature. Especially when read aloud! I can’t even begin to name all of them, but ranking right up there is Grandmomma rolling around on the kitchen floor with all her silverware and her friend from next door.
I will really miss looking for the new Pearson book. Selfishly, I hope you get antsy not writing! As a fellow human, good for you for stopping and I hope you have so much fun!
Thanks for everything.
Hey howdy. I appreciate your enthusiasm for my work and the company you've put me in. I'm feeling a little antsy but not quite antsy enough just yet. At least Stephen King is still hammering away.
Thanks for checking in.
Ok it’s been over a year now, and you must have enjoyed the alternate world of The living. Now let’s get back to the blank paper. Time to put down those ideas and plots we know you have collected and have no where else to go. We fans will sit here on the porch until you are ready…
Has it been that long? I am piddling around with something, but I'm not as speedy as I used to be. I'll keep you posted.

I'm getting two new hips in the coming months, which should help me enjoy the mountains and the woods properly.
Thanks for writing.
