A. Lee Martinez was born in El Paso, Texas. At the age of eighteen, for no apparent reason, he started writing novels. Thirteen short years (and a little over a dozen manuscripts) later, his first novel, Gil's All Fright Diner, was published. His hobbies include juggling, games of all sorts, and astral projecting. Also, he likes to sing along with the radio when he's in the car by himself.

Not really.

I know it's unusual to NOT want to do a series, but I love writing new ideas and exploring new vistas. I know it's probably hurt my career that I am not readily identifiable via a single series, setting, or character, but it's also made me a stronger writer.

My new trilogy with Simon & Schuster is my first foray into a series, but it is intended to be three books only and then off to a new idea.

Of course, I love hearing that people are excited about my characters and ideas so much that they want to read more, but I also love that my career isn't as limited as that.(less)

Is it too late to talk about Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Am I culturally irrelevant? Eh, whatever. Let’s do it. This isn’t really about Star Wars anyway.

One of the complaints aimed at the film is that Rey is “A Mary Sue”. As proof, it’s pointed out that she’s an incredibly competent character nearly from the get go, and she exhibits force powers beyond being believable.

So, first off, this is...

A fun and lively book, buoyed by wonderfully expressive art.

Simply charming. There's a surprising amount of potty humor here, which I'm not usually a fan of. But here it worked, and the charm of the story is aided immensely by the art, which is simpl

I picked this up purely as a lark, knowing nothing about it but intrigued by the premise of monster cars duking it out. What I discovered was an absurd concept executed with great joy.
