I loved it! It's just a shame that graphic novels are over so quickly and now we must wait a whole year for the sequel.
Wires and Nerve picks up shortly after the end of Winter. It is basically the fifth book in the Lunar Chronicles and does contain spoilers for all previous books - so if you haven't finished the others don't make the mistake of thinking this is a completely separate story. The protagonist here is Iko, the charming and - as you will soon see - badass android that's been with Cinder from the very beginning.
And it was really enjoyable. The characters we know and love all make an appearance, and Meyer's trademark humour keeps the story light between the royal politics and drama. Iko is now a hunter, searching for rogue wolf-hybrids all over the world. She also has to deal with being the "forgotten hero", her name kept out of the history books because she is an android, and therefore not considered a real person. Her behaviour and feelings are constantly being questioned - her fiery temper considered a "malfunction" and her emotions considered "artificial".
This series is a whole lot of light silliness, easy to digest science-fiction, and romance, but underneath there's a constant subtle nod to the outsiders; those who have had to fight to be heard or taken seriously because of who they are. I like that.
Plus, getting a visual of this diverse cast of characters was wonderful: the Chinese Cinder and Kai, the black Iko and Winter, and the white Scarlet, Cress and Thorne. Perhaps the only thing missing from this series is some good LGBT representation. I was secretly hoping that for Iko, but I guess I'll deal with Kinney for now. The love/hate between the two of them is perfect!

What a cute little graphic novel! I love The Lunar Chronicles! ❤
In this first book we touch base with all of the main characters from the books, some more so than others. I'm sure they will all have major parts in the other books in the series.
In this one Iko is running around taking down some of the wolf pack hybrids that Levana had made during her reign. They were all supposed to come in and get rehabilitated But that didn't really happen.
Also, Kai is off doing stuff and Cinder has some plans of her own that the council doesn't like. Scarlet and Wolf are on their farm which is sweet.
Carswell and Cress are running around with Iko after one point. It will all come together when you read the novel. I sooooooooooooooo look forward to however many Marissa Meyers is going to do in this series.

I've been waiting for over a year for this graphic novel to come out, so to say that I had high expectations would barely begin to cover it. But I'm glad to say that this volume did not disappoint.
Wires & Nerve follows Iko, the beloved android from the Lunar Chronicles, on a dangerous and romantic new adventure – with a little help from Cinder and the Rampion crew (which had me over the moon excited).
When rogue packs of wolf-hybrid soldiers threaten the tenuous peace alliance between Earth and Luna, Iko takes it upon herself to hunt down the soldiers' leader. She is soon working with a handsome royal guard who forces her to question everything she knows about love, loyalty, and her own humanity.
Iko was one of my favorite members of the group, so I loved that her wit and humor was translated so well into this graphic novel format. She's as brave and loyal as ever fighting for her true friend and queen. And my love for this crew is exhilarating.
Speaking of love, here are some of favorite moments:

I was glad to see that good 'ol humor of hers along with her love for Kai hadn't changed.
I loved Thorne with every bit of my heart in TLC. But I found that his trademark snark and direct remarks seemed kind of forced in here.
But thankfully his love for Cress is still alive and well!!
And so is her love for the net dramas!

Side note: the art style took a bit to get used to because it wasn't even close to how I'd imagined the characters, especially the way Wolf was depicted. But over time it became less noticeable once I got into the swing of the story.

Overview:
Maaannn I was really hoping I’d love this. I didn’t hate it, but I definitely didn’t love it either.
Still Lunar Chronicles trash tho.
Pros:
I enjoyed the overall plot and seeing what happened once Cinder took the throne! It’s great seeing the changes she makes her struggles with the organization. The interaction with the wolf-operatives felt plausible and different from what we'd previously read.
Iko is just as great as ever. Her loyalty and friendship and such a strong presence on every page, but I also love her self-confidence and determination. (She’s also still hilarious)
It’s all my babies???? And they are alive and well (mostly) and in happy relationships??? It’s just great, okay.
Cress and Thorne have a really strong presence in this, and their relationship is still surprisingly cute to me. A bit much in places, but their traveling misadventures were great to see.
The new characters really added fun dynamics! I enjoyed seeing Kinney's sister and especially loved meeting Thorne's parents.
Cons:
…I kind of hate Kinney? Like I get he’s the love interest and it’s supposed to be hate-to-love and all that jazz. But he absolutely believes Iko is less than human and treats her as such. That’s a really uncomfortable dynamic to me.
For some reason this recaps everything from the previous books, and this made no sense to me. Why would I be reading this spin-off if I hadn’t read the actual series??
A lot of the characters felt off. Scarlet felt really muted while Thorne was a little silly in places. It was never enough to be awful, but just enough it was notable.
The color scheme of the artwork was cool, but I didn’t care for much else? Wolf especially doesn’t look anything like I pictured. My other problem is that most everyone had the same faces. I can’t find a great example of the art-work, but look at how similar some of the guys are:

I’m struggling to grab more art here, but almost everyone had the same shaped face and nose, with just very minute details changed. It wasn’t that it looked cartoonesque, it was just everyone was so similar

Loved this! Iko was one of my favorite characters from this series so I'm thrilled she's getting her own story. I also loved seeing the whole gang again! If you're wondering exactly where this fits in the story line, it happens after Winter (will completely spoil the ending!) but before the extra epilogue that was included in Stars Above.

“I misread the romantic tension, Didn't I?”
Wires and Nerve is a story before Stars Above where Cinder plans to abdicate the throne and Iko hunts the rogue wolves on the earth. I got see many characters I missed from the main series in this book, such as Scarlet and Wolf, Captain Thorne and Cress, and Winter and Jacin. I think the story isn't bad at all, of course, it was written by Meyer herself and I could feel the flow of it so well. But the artwork was a major problem foe me since the beginning as I couldn't get myself to enjoy it at all, it should have been better despite the fact that this series is very well-known, it could have been more good-looking.
In fact, what I liked is seeing the same old characters from TLR, and you have no idea how much I miss them. However, the junctions between the scenes are not smooth as I hoped it'd be. I felt as though sometimes the story was just left out like that instead of having gimmicks like other comics. Well, I did enjoy this book. I was fond of Iko since Cinder, her character still has many stories waiting to be told and I can see those potentials the author would pick up and use for the next book or series. Can't wait for book two.
All in all, if you're a fan of TLC, don't miss this book. This is a filler of what happens before the epilogue in Star Above and it makes the main story more perfect. Plus, I can remember when I read Winter, I thought that the way Cinder struggled to change Lunar's government wasn't mentined that much. So Wires and Nerve will answer these questions how much Cinder has tried to manage everything since she has overthrown Levana.

There was, like...never even a question of whether or not I was going to read this book.

I read The Lunar Chronicles way before I became the harsh, bitter, cynical acid raindrop of a reviewer you see before you now, so you may want to take the following statement with a grain or so of salt, but: I really loved that series. I’m too scared to reread the books, because I’m 97% certain they won’t hold up, but I recall them with some degree of fondness. I cited it as my favorite series for a while before realizing that was, no question, not even a little bit true.
Still, I loved them. So of course I’m cursed to forever pick up any addition to that series forever. Marissa Meyer has me on the hook, and unless I begin that formidable reread and it turns out to be as massive a disappointment as I suspect, upon that hook I will remain.
I didn’t, like, love this book. I didn’t even like it strongly. I found it pretty eh. Will I pick up the sequel? Indubitably. (How long is this series? I’m scared. So is my wallet.)
That being said, I read it in a sitting and didn’t hate it. And it’s the little things like that you’re grateful for when your reading year is progressing like mine. (By which I mean, very behind on my reading challenge + giving out one star ratings like it’s my job.)
Let’s get into it.
For starters...I don’t like the art very much. It’s VERY cartoonish, which is cute, but all the characters look exactly the same. They just have slightly different hairstyles. And it’s weird for the caption to be all “this is the most beautiful girl in the galaxy” while the picture is of a head with a glorified smiley face on it. Too mean? It’s not bad. It’s just not my cup of tea...and I’d argue not the right choice for a story like this. But that’s just my opinion. (I say, as if everything I ever write on this site is anything more than my dumb opinions.)
The characters just felt dull. If I’m remembering the original books in The Lunar Chronicles correctly, the characters are vibrant! They’re funny and amusing and it’s cool to get to follow them around. Well, not Scarlet. Or Wolf. Or Cinder and Kai, most of the time. (My god, why did I love those books so much?) But Cress and Thorne usually guarantee a good time. And Iko is a funny little thing.
I’d argue Iko is the most true to my memory of her of the bunch, but even she is toned down. Thorne is VERY different. I swear I can feel the author trying to recapture Thorne’s voice, and just...not getting there. It’s upsetting. All the characters become so flat. And that definitely wasn’t a problem in the original series.
Plot-wise, this wasn’t terrible. I was a bit bored, but that’s fair - this is the setting-up of what is supposed to be a series, maybe? We follow Iko as she’s trying to capture the wolf soldiersleftover from a past storyline in hiding on Earth. Every once in awhile we meet up with another member of the gang. It’s fine.
But then some tough wolf guy is like, oh, I don’t think so! I’m going to kill all of you and get all the other remaining wolf people on my side. Oooooh, not that simple, bitches!
Here’s the thing, though - and hear me out on this - I’m kind of on Professor Wolfdude’s side.
He’s all, “Hey, you guys...this is kind of f*cked. Like, we were made into wolf people against our will, which was straight torturous, and then enslaved and forced to kill people. And guys, it’s not even our faults that we now thirst for human flesh. And now the new queen, who’s supposed to be all nice, is just capturing us? And like, killing us if we maybe don’t want to go back to the place where a ton of bad shit happened to us? Nah. I’m not into it.”
And Iko’s response is pretty much “You’re wrong ahhhh! I’ll kill you harder now!” So I’m not even rooting for the intended people here. But I digress.
Other than that...oh yeah! The romance this series prides itself upon. Every single character is matched up with another character - HETEROSEXUALLY, GUYS. If you were worried about LGBTQ people getting representation here, DON’T. It’s like 1794 but in space.
What was I saying? Right. So the relationships are boring here. The narrator just tells us we should think they’re cute, in the hopes that we do. But I’m rebellious and quirky and cool, so it’s not that easy, Meyer!
Also, I am against the new love interest introduced here, Liam x Iko, with everything that I am. Liam inherently believes that Iko is incapable of emotion and that robots shouldn’t have rights, and we’re supposed to be like, aw! Cute! That’s not the same thing as hate to love. I would make a comparison here, but it would be toeing the line at best and clearly something is off with me today so I’m just going to wrap this up.
Even though this book had problems, I didn’t hate it. I kind of disliked it and found it to be a disappointment, but disappointed is my go to emotion now, baby!

I read this in one sitting and loved every second. I hadn't realized how much I was missing these characters. I will definitely be picking up all of the books in this graphic novel series.

Did I know I needed a graphic novel sequel? I did not. Am I glad there is one? VERY!
This is an excellent followup to the Lunar Chronicles focusing on the loveable android Iko. She was one of the lesser main characters in the original series so it is cool to get her front and center. The writing immediately takes me back to the original story as it perfectly recaptures the feel and the characters. If you loved the Lunar Chronicles I am 100% confident that you will love this! (I have been wrong before when making such bold statements, but I THINK I can be this confident in this case!)
The artwork is very creative and very cool. As usual I have posted a few images to give you an idea. It is a monochrome blue/black with a fairly simple, Sunday comics feel. Simple is not bad! Also, the binding and the paper used for this book was very high quality – this is not always important when reviewing, but in this case the feel of the book in my hands greatly enhanced the experience.
I have basically said this already but, are you a Lunar Chronicles fan? If so, read this! Period. End of story.

Edit 07/30/17: I FINALLY READ IT AND OMG I HAVE SOME SERIOUS FEELINGS.
This was definitely a book I was looking forward to. I mean, The Lunar Chronicles are some of my favorite books of ALL TIME! And the characters will always have a special place in my heart. So yeah, I was slightly nervous going into this graphic novel (to say the least). And I am RELIEVED at how wonderful this installment actually was!
Wires and Nerve takes place a short while after Winter, but definitely before the final novella in Stars Above. The illustrations of the characters were cute, and fun. And the diversity within the pages was finally apparent with the Asian Cinder and Kai, and black Winter and Iko (YES Iko!). The snark and sass played a huge role in each character along with Marissa Meyer's trademark cute, squeal-worthy romantic scenes (*cough* c'mon now Kinney! *cough*) And despite the fact that Wires and Nerve is a graphic novel, Meyer still managed to include the internal struggles her characters must learn to endure and eventually overcome. And I love that about her books.
I was actually surprised that the additional characters were present as much as they were. While Iko's storyline remained the center of attention, every character we know and love from The Lunar Chronicles was just as important as our main android! (Cue excessive fangirling!) My heart could hardly take it!
I will say, the only negative I can think of is an inconsistency. Thorne seemed... different than he did in TLC books. I don't know if it was just me, but it seemed like he was lacking his usual charm and sarcasm. So, yes, my only true dislike was the slight disconnect from the characters as a whole... but it was minor enough that I didn't notice it all the time.
I am definitely ready for the next volume... because WTF was that cliffhanger??? And I am sooooooo ready for some more Iko + Liam Kinney (my ship has barely left port!)

There’s just something so GREAT about being able to reenter into the world of your favs.
I’ve been dying to get my hands on this book for 74 years and I now I can FINALLY say that it’s literally the best thing ever.
I MEAN, WE’RE BACK IN THE WORLD OF THE LUNAR CHRONICLES, WHAT MORE COULD I ASK FOR????
Just look how fricken adorable and perfect my babies are!!!
Okay, so this is the very first graphic novel I have ever read (cover to cover) and I was NOT disappointed.
The illustrations are perfect, the setting is perfect, the plot is perfect, the cliffhanger is NOT but what can you do and the characters are perfect.
I mean, our main character gets introduced like:
“…and finally, there was the android. She was passionate being who had once been trapped in the body of a lowly servant-droid, but had since discarded that humble form, like a butterfly emerging from her cocoon. Newly outfitted with a glass escort-droid body, one that completed her wit, charisma, and excellent taste in fashion, she boldly embraced her destiny. It didn’t hurt that she also had the grade of a net drama starlet, the courage of a lioness and the –

Yes, that’s right, Iko, my queen is the main character of this story, but don’t you worry, we get scene of all of our favourite superheroes - ESPECIALLY MY BABIES WOFLET *screams*!!!

This was so much fun. I loved the storyline and the illustrations are perfection.
Iko is exactly the sort of narrator you would expect. I am so happy to get back to these characters {especially Wolf and his tomatoes} and I can't wait to see the next part.

First book for BTAT 2017 is DONE!
I wasn't planning on finishing this in a day but I honestly just wanted to get the "read a book outside" challenge over and done with and now I'm sitting on the floor in front of a fan.
This was so great!! A story I knew I wanted but didn't know how much until I started it. I *love* that Iko is getting a bigger stage and we are also seeing how a lot of events play out before the last story in Stars Above. It's so wonderful to see all my faves again.
I also enjoyed the graphic novel format! It was great to a) see these characters on paper and b) for it to move fast with a lot of action and still pack in all that sass.
I didn't know this wasn't going to be a standalone so I'm pumped to read the next book!!

I didn't realize how much I loved Iko until now!
Okay, I'll admit it. The art style weirded me out at first. Coming from someone who's been binge-reading manga series for the past two weeks, I found the cartoon drawings a little odd. But once I read past a few pages, I got used to it and it didn't bother me at all!
Wires and Nerve starts off shortly after the ending of Winter. It reads just like a fifth book to the Lunar Chronicles with pictures. This graphic novel follows Iko, the sassy, fashion-crazy android and Cinder's best sidekick. In this book Iko is hunting down rogue packs of wolf-hybrids. Iko as a secret agent is everything I could ever want. She's a brilliant, awesome narrator whom I couldn't get enough of.
As an android, Iko is tired of people underestimating her and saying her feelings aren't "real" because she's made of metal instead of flesh and blood. She cares so passionately about her friends and would do anything for them.
The characters couldn't be more perfect, and now, in art form, we get to see new details of them. Like, I never imagined Wolf looking so monstrous - I always kind of imagined him as a hugely muscular, hot guy with fangs, to be honest. So when I saw the drawings portraying him as a slightly scary, more beastly person, Scarlet's love for him seemed so much more sincere. They seriously melted my heart.
All the other characters were just as heartwarming, from the lovable, awkward mechanic, Cinder, to the cutest computer hacker ever, Cress, the wise Princess Winter (now an ambassador), and Thorne, who was just as swoony and self-absorbed as ever.
Really, this book had Marissa Meyer written all over it, from the action sequences, strong female characters, humor, and perfect touches of romance. So stinkin' cute, and I can't wait for volume two!

So you remember the ending of The Lunar Chronicles? Well what was Cinder going to do with a bunch of wolve-hybrid-men who want to eat people? Well she wants to help them and get them fused into the community.
But as flesh-hungry beast, they don't always want to listen. Sometimes, they want to stay on earth and have a feast. So who do you call when the Eartheners don't trust the Lunars to come down and get all their puppy-men because they may want to control them with their minds? How about a robot named Iko!?
I think this volume was a great start to the series. It's really hard to transition from one art form to the next, as you all are well away from books-to-movies or books-to-television-series. Graphic Novel transitions aren't any different.
Iko was portrayed really well I thought. Her personality really came through and I liked that she was the main focus of the series. She was the only one who didn't pair up in the series so I thought maybe she deserved her happily ever after. I also thought she was one of a kind because she was an android with an actual personality.
Other characters, I didn't think were portrayed very well. Example Thorne. First, he looked like a teenage boy. Second, he seemed kind of spineless and like a teenage boy instead of the space-pirate I fell in love with.
For such a pretty world, I thought maybe the illustrations didn't really fit the story. Standing by themselves, I liked the illustrations. But for something from The Lunar Chronicles, I expected a little more..pretty? That might just be me though.
Overall, I thought it was a good start. I went into the graphic novel knowing there were going to be some bumps since we are transitioning into a different from of story telling, and I can tell you it went a lot smoother. I can't wait to read the second volume!

Okay, antes que nada, quiero que sepan que Wires and Nerve puede tomarse como una continuación de la saga de Las Crónicas Lunares y, por lo tanto, el libro y esta reseña van a tener spoilers de Winter, así que están avisados.
Aquí nos encontramos con Iko siendo una agente súper badass en la Tierra. Después de derrotar a Levana y de que Cinder tomara su puesto como legítima reina de Luna, aún quedaban muchas cosas por resolver en la diplomacia intergaláctica. Quizá el asunto más grave es que aún quedaban soldados lobo-híbridos en la Tierra y, tras la derrota de Levana, pensaron que la nueva reina iba a ser igual y los iba a abandonar a su suerte y, por eso, se vuelven rebeldes y empiezan a atacar inocentes a lo largo y ancho de la Tierra. Cinder, sabiendo la tensión que eso causa en la tenue paz que hay entre la Tierra y Luna, decide enviar a Iko como agente especial para recapturar a todos esos rebeldes y devolverlos a Luna.
En realidad la historia de Wires and Nerve es súper sencilla y, más allá de ver las reacciones del Consejo de Luna a las propuestas de su nueva reina, de reencontrarnos con Cinder, Kai, Cress, Thorne, Scarlet, Wolf, Winter, Jacin y Iko y de ver una tensión romántica entre dos personajes bastante insospechados no nos da mucho más. Ahora, una de mis grandes quejas, a pesar de que aparezcan de nuevo todos los personajes, es que no los sentí como ellos mismos. Parecían personas totalmente diferentes tanto en su actitud como en su manera de hablar. A mí no me digan que el Capitán Thorne de este libro es el mismo de la saga, me niego. Eso no me gustó para nada.
Es lindo, eso sí, estar dentro de la cabeza (¿los circuitos?) de Iko porque nos damos cuenta de que es muchísimo más que un androide y que de verdad ama a sus amigos y moriría por protegerlos. Y lo que es triste ver es cómo la han borrado del panteón de los héroes que lograron derrocar a Levana y cómo eso la afecta un montón.
Poco más puedo decir, pero sí voy a dejar claro que no me gustaron nada, nada, las ilustraciones y el estilo de cómic que escogieron para contar esta historia. Siento que no les hicieron nada de justicia a los personajes. Pero, oye, para gustos, los colores.

Unpopular Opinion
Si son fans de la serie Crónicas Lunares, posiblemente esta reseña no les va a gustar.
Esta es la peor novela gráfica que he leído.
Esta novela nos la están vendiendo como VOLUMEN 1, pero la gran verdad es que este libro no se puede sostener por si solo. No funciona como un libro base, standalone o spin off.
Al empezar, nos presentan a un grupo de personajes, pero no nos contextualizan en cuanto al mundo en el que la historia se desarrolla.
Y si ya se lo que están a punto de decir, que fue mi culpa por leer este libro sin haber leído los demás. Pero les recuerdo si este libro es un VOLUMEN 1, yo no tendría por qué necesitar de los otros libros.
Ahora hablemos de la historia central.
SPOILER ALERT
La historia se supone que se basa en Iko, un androide, que es mejor amiga de la Reyna lunar, y decide viajar a la tierra a cazar a las manadas de hibrido-hombres lobo que están aterrorizando a las personas de la tierra.
Ok, el inicio se presentaba prometedor, ver a Iko pelear, fue lo mejor del libro. Pero casi no se ve, porque cada 5 paginas meten a uno de los 9 héroes, que si la Reyna lunar no quiere ser Reyna, que si el Capitan no quiere ir a la celebración en su honor, que si el emperador. Que al final era obvio la autora metió a estos personajes como fans service, no porque de verdad fueran necesarios para la historia.
Ahora mi mayor problema con la historia es que fue imposible determinar el tono. Es violenta como para ser middle grade, pero los personajes son demasiado infantiles como para ser Young Adult.
Y hablando de eso. Uff que fastidio, que durante todo el libro no pude deducir cuantos años tienen los personajes. En una escena dicen que Cinder es adolescente, por lo que quiero suponer que todos son mas o menos de esa edad, pero es tan difícil creérmelo. Ya que tienen actitudes muy infantiles, que parecían más niños de 12 años.
Ejemplo, el supuesto condecorado Captain Carswell, que antes era bandido y traidor y yada yada, la forma en que reacciona al ver un androide igual a él es completamente ridícula, o peor aún cómo reacciona al reencontrarse con sus padres, es tan estúpido. Como me voy a creer que según ha hecho todo eso, si lo veo actuar de esa manera.
Y ni que decir del emperador de la Tierra, rascándose la cabeza al estar confundido, como si fuera un niñito hablando de su crush.
La historia está llena de chistecillos forzados, que no causan ninguna gracia. Y vamos que no soy amargada, adoro los libros divertidos.
Pero esta novela no tiene una historia central que la sostenga, y las historias secundarias están demasiado dispersas.
Además, en la sinopsis nos hablan de un “supuesto romance”. El cual no vemos, para nada. Iko y Kínney están juntos solo como en 3 escenas, y lo único medio romántico es en una página, y no, no estoy exagerando.

Ahora mi mayor molestia contra esta novela: LOS GRAFICOS.
En serio que he visto fan art mucho mas trabajados que los gráficos de esta novela. Para empezar la paleta de colores es en tonos de grises, si fuera un libro nostálgico o de terror entendería porque utilizaron esos tonos, pero la verdad no le vi sentido. Al ser un libro que trata demasiado de ser divertido, un poco mas de color hubiera encajado mucho mejor.
La representación de cada personaje es por demás simplista, no tienen ningún detalle, nada que los haga especiales, todos los personajes se parecen, solo se diferencian por el cabello, pero en si las características de rostro y cuerpo son los mismos.
En conclusión: Sin duda, este mundo me llama la atención y posiblemente lea los libros de la serie, pero que horrible adaptación hizo este ilustrador.

Si son fans de la serie Crónicas Lunares, posiblemente esta reseña no les va a gustar.
Esta es la peor novela gráfica que he leído.
Esta novela nos la están vendiendo como VOLUMEN 1, pero la gran verdad es que este libro no se puede sostener por si solo. No funciona como un libro base, standalone o spin off.
Al empezar, nos presentan a un grupo de personajes, pero no nos contextualizan en cuanto al mundo en el que la historia se desarrolla.
Y si ya se lo que están a punto de decir, que fue mi culpa por leer este libro sin haber leído los demás. Pero les recuerdo si este libro es un VOLUMEN 1, yo no tendría por qué necesitar de los otros libros.
Ahora hablemos de la historia central.
SPOILER ALERT
La historia se supone que se basa en Iko, un androide, que es mejor amiga de la Reyna lunar, y decide viajar a la tierra a cazar a las manadas de hibrido-hombres lobo que están aterrorizando a las personas de la tierra.
Ok, el inicio se presentaba prometedor, ver a Iko pelear, fue lo mejor del libro. Pero casi no se ve, porque cada 5 paginas meten a uno de los 9 héroes, que si la Reyna lunar no quiere ser Reyna, que si el Capitan no quiere ir a la celebración en su honor, que si el emperador. Que al final era obvio la autora metió a estos personajes como fans service, no porque de verdad fueran necesarios para la historia.
Ahora mi mayor problema con la historia es que fue imposible determinar el tono. Es violenta como para ser middle grade, pero los personajes son demasiado infantiles como para ser Young Adult.
Y hablando de eso. Uff que fastidio, que durante todo el libro no pude deducir cuantos años tienen los personajes. En una escena dicen que Cinder es adolescente, por lo que quiero suponer que todos son mas o menos de esa edad, pero es tan difícil creérmelo. Ya que tienen actitudes muy infantiles, que parecían más niños de 12 años.
Ejemplo, el supuesto condecorado Captain Carswell, que antes era bandido y traidor y yada yada, la forma en que reacciona al ver un androide igual a él es completamente ridícula, o peor aún cómo reacciona al reencontrarse con sus padres, es tan estúpido. Como me voy a creer que según ha hecho todo eso, si lo veo actuar de esa manera.
Y ni que decir del emperador de la Tierra, rascándose la cabeza al estar confundido, como si fuera un niñito hablando de su crush.
La historia está llena de chistecillos forzados, que no causan ninguna gracia. Y vamos que no soy amargada, adoro los libros divertidos.
Pero esta novela no tiene una historia central que la sostenga, y las historias secundarias están demasiado dispersas.
Además, en la sinopsis nos hablan de un “supuesto romance”. El cual no vemos, para nada. Iko y Kínney están juntos solo como en 3 escenas, y lo único medio romántico es en una página, y no, no estoy exagerando.

I tried to read Wires & Nerve earlier this year when it first released. Unfortunately, it was difficult on my phone (I had an ebook) and I didn’t get to truly grasp the story. So, when unwrapping the presents my best friend Caitlin got me for Christmas I was so happy to see Wires & Nerve. Honestly, I struggled not to start it immediately. Though, when I did start it I finished it in an hour, so there’s that.
The Lunar Chronicles is one of my favourite series and I am not shy about screaming it from the rooftops. So, a companion novel is excellent. I’m not usually a big comic book reader either but for some reason, this was screaming at me to pick it up and read it. I’m so glad I did.
Literally, my only complaint about this graphic novel is the characters didn’t look like how I had imagined them so I kept getting caught up on panels and going ‘who?’ Honestly, that’s it. My own imagination.
I’m not even sure how to go about reviewing this? I guess dot points may be the best way because I can say what I want without expending too much (this review would be really short, I have no idea how to extend my thoughts) so let’s go!
- Iko is a great lead – she didn’t have a major part in The Lunar Chronicles besides being Cinder’s sister like character, but she deserved more of a spotlight
- The illustrations are gorgeous
- I loved seeing more of Cress and Throne + seeing there are consequences to her having lived most of her life in a satellite (her immune system sucks)
- There wasn’t much Scarlet or Wolf which I loved because I didn’t really like them, honestly, they were so boring
- Winter joking about how sickness now that she has an implant!!!
- The fact someone doesn’t have to have read The Lunar Chronicles to read this. Obviously, its suggested but things are explained so if someone wanted to pick this up with no prior knowledge of the series, they could!
- An amazingly engaging storyline! It is mainly just set up for the next book but it is so good! Marissa Meyer just has such an engaging writing style, even in comic form
I think that’s basically everything that can be said? Wires & Nerve is a great companion novel for the Lunar Chronicles world and I highly suggest it if you have read the series already. It is a quick read that sucks you in and keeps you wondering. I’m glad the sequel comes out next month and I don’t have to wait too long.

I don't read a lot of graphic novels, but I couldn't fathom the idea of not read a story in the Lunar Chronicles world. I had such a fun time reading this book, and I am so glad I decided to pick it up!
The artwork was extremely cute! Some of the characters didn't look like I pictured and some male characters looked almost identical, but I still really liked the artwork. I thought the artist did a great job at bringing these characters to life.
I loved being reunited with all my favorite characters in this novel. All the characters were just as cute, charming, hilarious, and lovable as always. I smiled every time the characters interacted, so I was basically smiling the entire time I read this novel.
The plot of this story was filled with plenty of action to keep me on the edge of my seat. I never felt bored while reading this novel! The romances in this story were freaking perfect. There were plenty of scenes that made me swoon and made me say "aww" out loud. My little shipper heart felt like it was constantly filled with rainbows and sunshine when the couples interacted.
Overall, this book was a quick and delightful read. I 100% recommend that all fans of the original series check this novel out!

That was so fun! The Lunar Chronicles is such a satisfying series, we have all these amazing characters, a full story arc AND an "after" to the "happily ever after". Cinder is dealing with the pressures that come with taking up the lunar crown including the task of rounding up lunar wolf operatives causing trouble on Earth. She sends Iko to hunt them down. Iko has always been Cinder's fun, spunky sidekick. She has this bubbly personality and loves her friends so much but as much as she tries to keep the longing down, she still knows she'll never be a real human. (But she's real enough okay!) Her scenes with Kinney were so funny because he's such a jerk but that's only because he doesn't get it... yet... The Cress/Thorne moments and Cinder/Winter interactions that I desperately hoped for in Winter, I got them here! <3 <3 <3 My only complaint is a tiny personal one because I imagined the art style to be like Saga or Monstress and this was more cartoonish. All in all, I am beyond pleased and excited for Volume 2!

i’m so happy to be back in the lunar chronicles world…
i can’t believe i didn’t know this duology existed until recently but i’m so glad i heard about it and read it. i’m on my quest to read all of marissa meyer’s books and so far i’m 10/15
this was such a fun, quick graphic novel. i loved how much cresswell we got and iko will forever be one of my favorites!! can’t wait to read the sequel, i love this world so much 💫🤍

I WAITED SO LONG FOR THIS BOOK TO COME OUT AND WHEN I FINALLY GOT IT I FINISHED IT IN TWO HOURS. WHYYYY GOD WHYYYY!!!
I was slightly nervous with the whole graphic novel aspect of this book. I had never read a graphic novel before so the format was new and unfamiliar to me. Also I’d seen the artwork online prior to reading Wires and Nerve and honestly I didn’t love it but going into this book the artwork grew on me and I loved it by the end!! The format was a lot easier to read than I expected and is probably why it is such a quick and easy read- even though I wish it wasn’t :((((
I love that Marissa Meyer chose to focus two graphic novels around Iko because she really is the unsung hero of The Lunar Chronicles and she is my precious badass cinnamon roll <333

She was passionate being who had once been trapped in the body of a lowly servant-droid, but had since discarded that humble form, like a butterfly emerging from her cocoon. Newly outfitted with a glass escort-droid body, one that completed her wit, charisma, and excellent taste in fashion, she boldly embraced her destiny. Iko’s adorable and quirky personality shines through this novel blinding as ever and it just solidifies my love of her even more! The novel is centred around Iko being a total badass serving as a special agent for Cinder. I love the deeper themes in this story as we really get to explore how Iko feels alienated from her friends because she is overlooked for her part in the rebellion and she is an android.
And this but bloody broke me:
“I know I’m not really human. But aces and stars, I wish I was.”
MY HEART:
I was surprised how little Cinder was in this novel if I am honest with you. Forgive me, but honestly I didn’t mind ( especially since it meant that Cress and Thorne were in it so much more!!!). Cinder is starting to introduce the new Lunar democracy as she tells her cabinet of her plans to abdicate her throne and abolish the monarchy. Iko of course is as supportive as ever.
OMG I love Kinney’s sister Tressa so much!! I was so happy when she was introduced she is the perfect little friend for Iko and it was so funny to read about how they are constantly trying to get Cinder to be more like them!
HOW COULD I FORGET KINNEY!!!! HE’S BACK GUYS AND I STILL LOVE HIM EVEN THOUGH HE IS A CONSTANT JERK AND IS TOTALLY MEAN TO IKO IN THIS NOVEL
CAN WE APPRECIATE HOW MUCH CRESS AND THORNE FEATURE IN THIS NOVEL!!!!!!!
It’s like my prayers were answered and Marissa chose to write so much about Cress and Thorne and my heart was so full and happy and I felt like I was about to burst with joy and feelings
CRESS AND THORNE ARE SO FREAKING ADORABLE AND PERFECT IN THIS BOOK I CAN’T DEAL. They are so comfortable around one another and Cress’s character development is everything and I am so happy!! Thorne is such sweet blueberry muffin in this book dedicating his speech to Cress, taking care of her and making all her dreams of seeing the world come true.
The escort droid shop chapter was honestly was one of my favourites in the book! I love the humour in this series so much and this scene was just brilliant!
I find it so hilarious that after seven years on a satalite Cress keeps getting ill because her immune system is so crap! It is such a logical thing that would happen but I just find it so funny and kinda sad because she waited so long to explore Earth and now she can’t enjoy it because she keeps getting the flu. One good thing to come of her illnesses is the adorable moments it causes between her and Thorne that just warms me to the core and makes me fangirl so badly:
I totally did not expect Carswell’s parents to be in this book! I loved this surprise appearance so much because we’ve only seen a little of his backstory in Stars Above ( if you haven’t read the novella bind up you really need to!! ). It was really nice to see Thorne prove himself as a hero and for his parents to be there to witness it. The fact that Thorne is awarded a medal of bravery and heroism brings his character arc full circle and makes me happier than I can explain.
OMG THE PART WHERE THORNE GOES BACK TO THE RAMPION AND THE SOLDIERS ARE THERE AND CRESS IS HIDING!!!
I WAS SO SCARED, even though I knew they would be fine!! Cress is such a badass in this chapter It is fucking amazing how far she has come since she is first introduced in the series and it is a testament to how good Meyer writes her characters and is one of the biggest reasons why I love this series so much.
Oh my goodness the final fight with Iko and Alpha Steele is fucking intense. My poor Iko has her control panel cut and practically becomes paralysed. THEN FUCKING KINNEY SAVES HER BECAUSE CINDER SENT HIM TO LOOK AFTER HER BEST FRIEND OMG.
I LOVE KINNEY SO MUCH AHHHHHH
He is a total dick to Iko in this part though but as Thorne says there is for sure romantic tension between them both!!! Kinney is just conflicted with his own emotions and feelings because they are for an android and obviously that would be weird enough for an Earthen but it is even weirder for a Lunar who has not lived with robots before. He made me so angry though when he was insulting Iko and comparing her to Levana- HOW CAN HE SAY THAT! But gahhh I still ship it so bad I am just waiting for him to admit the truth- that he loves Iko- and get on with it!!!
AHHHH OMG OMG OMG SCARLET AND WOLF’S APPEARANCE IN THIS WAS EVERYTHING

I NEED WOLF TO PROPOSE IN THE NEXT BOOK BECAUSE THEN I CAN DIE A HAPPY WOMAN
We only get a teeny tiny bit of Kai in this book and I need more!!! The next book better have more of him in!!
I know I haven’t really talked much about the Lunar operatives but honestly I was so invested in all my babies storylines rather than the central plot and because I have read Stars Above we kind of know that everyone is going to be fine so this book just made me happy more than anything!!

Nunca había leído una novela gráfica, por lo cual no estaba segura con que me podía encontrar y he de reconocer que estaba algo escéptica a que Marissa Meyer continuara la trama de las Cronicas Lunares de esta manera, pero he de reconocer que lo hizo estupendamente!!!.
Esta vez Iko es la protagonista, lo cual le da un giro refrescante a la historia, que se desarrolla entre el final de Winter y el epilogo de Stars Above, lo cual puede ser un punto negativo porque ya sabes como termina, pero es encantador tener a toda la tripulación de la Rampion de regreso. La trama es creíble, pues nadie esperaba que la transición de paz entre la Tierra y la Luna fuera fácil, es una aventura hilarante de leer para todos los fans de la saga (un bonus es que la edición es preciosa).
Todos los personajes de la saga están de regreso, incluidos todos los OTP. No me había dado cuenta cuanto los extrañaba!!! Simplemente me ha encantado!!! Fue tan divertida y entretenida, que quiero tener en mis manos la segunda parte ya!!! Súper recomendada!!!
Esta vez Iko es la protagonista, lo cual le da un giro refrescante a la historia, que se desarrolla entre el final de Winter y el epilogo de Stars Above, lo cual puede ser un punto negativo porque ya sabes como termina, pero es encantador tener a toda la tripulación de la Rampion de regreso. La trama es creíble, pues nadie esperaba que la transición de paz entre la Tierra y la Luna fuera fácil, es una aventura hilarante de leer para todos los fans de la saga (un bonus es que la edición es preciosa).
Todos los personajes de la saga están de regreso, incluidos todos los OTP. No me había dado cuenta cuanto los extrañaba!!! Simplemente me ha encantado!!! Fue tan divertida y entretenida, que quiero tener en mis manos la segunda parte ya!!! Súper recomendada!!!

Loved it the second time around as well. Onto the last one!
My opinions on the art of this comic and Iko and Kinney's ship changed a bit from the first time though.
I actually appreciated the art much more this time around - I thought it made the story quite fluffy and endearing and matched my fondness for all the characters (though I would've liked it more colourful too, maybe).
As for Iko and Kinney and their soon-to-be romance - I enjoyed their dynamic more this time around as well. They brought this fun hate-to-love dynamic to this series that it didn't have before - all the previous ships were amazing plays on established romantic tropes and fun hate-to-love Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet dynamic was a great new addition to the series.
Overall, a fun experience for fans of TLC.

This little graphic novel gave me all the warm and fuzzy feels the original series and its short stories did. Tbh starting this, I was wary that the amazing humour from the books won't shine in this, but now I know I shouldn't have doubted the talented Marissa Meyer, because this had just as much personality and wit as all the other instalments in TLC.

I know I’m not really human.
But aces and stars, I wish that I was.”
Half star off because graphic novels / comics are not exactly my forte. And because when the novel was first announced, I admit I expected something different, more from the art design. Maybe something as gorgeous as the art in Saga, so.. The characters and places did look somewhat similar to how I imagined, at least most of them. But I thought that the style was a bit too basic and colorless. The characters did have some of the more prominent traits they had in the book series, but they looked just a bit bland to me. With all the potential, they could've looked better, more specific.
Also, I don't know how I feel about Iko and Kinney ship just yet. A few times here and there he had just such an iffy comments about Iko not having true emotions, only artificial ones and all that, so I don't think I ship them romantically just yet.
Though I'm glad that the romance was a very little part of the subplot, the story mainly focused on Iko kicking asses, and the crew.
This is Captain Carswell Thorne. He loves three things more than all others in the galaxy.
1. Himself.
2. His spaceship, The Rampion.
And 3. Cress, his genius computer-hacker girlfriend.
That's all I have for the cons, otherwise everything else was basically a plus for me! I loved the dialogues and the humour. There was so much Iko sass, Cresswell appreciation, Cinder's queening, and some Wolflet adorableness.
The only thing I missed and expect form the sequel is some Cinder and Kai time because I need to see their story a bit more closed. All in all, I love all these cinnamon rolls so freaking much! Recommended for big fans of TLC universe.

This book felt like a warm hug after you've had a very long day. It was like a hot chocolate that you would have on a cold winter's day. It was every feeling of comfort and contentedness that I have ever felt all brought together. I loved that we got to revisit the Lunar Chronicles world and I have just realized that I miss the TLC crew soooo much!! I think I'm going to reread those books soon, but we'll see. I loved the fact that now we get to see from the point of view of Iko, who is close to the top of the list of my favorite TLC characters. She is so funny and adorable and I love her so much. I also loved the cameos that we got to see in this book, with Cress, Thorne, and Cinder all playing a big part and Marissa Meyer giving us the occasional glimpse of Kai, Scarlet, Wolf, Winter, and Jacin. THEY ARE ALL ADORABLE AND I MISS THEM AND I LOVE THEM AND GAH THEY'RE MY CHILDREN!! The only reason I took off a star from this book is because Kinney annoyed me to no end, and the "tension" between them feels like such bullshit and I am not a fan of where their relationship seems to be going. But that is the only complaint I have about this book. Conclusion: READ THIS IF YOU LOVE TLC!!!

Talk about a one-sitting read.
This marvellous combination of our favourite characters of The Lunar Chronicles and comics just made my day!
Told from Iko's perspective it is full of drama, humour and of course romance. With all the characters from the previous book this comic just picked up on the epic adventure where we left them at the end of the series. The transition was pretty successful.
I can't wait for the next one!
