About this author

R.S. Guthrie grew up in Iowa and Wyoming and now lives in Colorado. He has been writing fiction, essays, short stories, and lyrics since college.

"Black Beast: A Clan of MacAulay Novel" is the first in a series of Detective Bobby Macaulay (Bobby Mac) books. The second in the series (Lost) is due out in December of 2011.

Guthrie is also working on a novel very close to his heart: "Dark Prairies", set in a fictional town in the same county where he spent much of his childhood and still visits. "Dark Prairies" will be finished in the Fall of 2011.

The author lives in Colorado with his wife, Amy, two young Australian Shepherds, and a Chihuahua who thinks she is a 40-pound Aussie!

Black Beast by R.S. Guthrie
" Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's a great mix of mystery, police procedural, and the paranormal. It's gritty and harsh, being in Bobby Mac's head, but worth it for a good read. "

" Black Beast grabbed me from the very first chapter. I don't get a lot of time to read, usually twenty minutes in bed, but this was a story I couldn't put down and I found myself having early nights just to get my next fix.

The characters are beauti... "
