Nocturne Falls #10

The Detective Wins The Witch

Rate this book
Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year. The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.

Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.

Private investigator Wyatt West finds his job a little tedious most days, but that changes when he meets a bewitching blonde florist who needs a favor in the way of a wedding date. There's definitely something magical about her, but little does he know just how correct that first impression is.

Single mom Marigold Williams finds herself instantly attracted to Wyatt, but doesn't dare tell this handsome human that she's a witch and things in Nocturne Falls are a little spookier than he suspects. He’s just a nice guy who’s offered to be her plus one. She doesn’t need to turn his world upside down with the truth over one date.

Despite that agreement, their feelings deepen and both agree to try a relationship beyond their current temporary arrangement. Now Marigold must tell him about her witchy side. After all, he has a right to know who he’s dating.

But when Wyatt unwittingly frees some dangerous magic, Marigold knows a life changing sacrifice is the only way to set things right. Will her magic save him? And will he be able to handle the truth that comes with it?

Yay! This sweet romance had ALL the Nocturne Falls magic I love in Kristen Painter’s books. Marigold, one of three witchy sisters, runs a flower shop she helps make awesome with her green witch magic. She’s raising a daughter on her own. Wyatt, a private investigator, is in Nocturne Falls temporarily doing business for a client. They cross paths, and sparks fly. This had so many easter egg moments and drop ins with familiar characters from past books as the town prepares for Cole and Pandora’s wedding. With a cursed object and a terrible spell, along with bad wizards and witches lurking about, it was the perfect amount of paranormal to go along with the romance and good old Nocturne Falls goodness. I can’t wait to see which couple KP writes next!

Another nice addition to this cozy paranormal romance series. These books feel so familiar and easy, it's like cuddling up next to a loved one in front of a fire for an afternoon.
While this isn't my regular go-to genre, these books keep pulling me into their stories. And I regret nothing.

The Detective Wins the Witch by Kristen Painter

Welcome to Nocturne Falls where everyday is Halloween.
10th Book in the series. Can be read as a standalone paranormal romance but you’d miss a lot of fun from knowing all the characters. I would recommend reading at least the first few in the series for the best experience.

Love this town. Love this author. This is one of the best romantic couples. He doesn’t want a relationship yet the next minute he’s falling head over heels in love. He grew up in foster care and doesn’t want that for anyone else. So adorable and so vulnerable. Then he makes all the right moves. Sigh.

Excerpt:
“He wanted to hold her hand again. Especially now that she was blushing. The pink in her cheeks was charming beyond description. She was like a drug he knew he should stay away from for his own good, but couldn’t.
So be it. There were much worse things to be addicted to.
Plus, he wanted more. Of her. But that would be leading her on, wouldn’t it? Because this was never going to go anywhere. He was never going to marry her. Which wasn’t anything against her. He was never going to marry anyone. Just like he was never going to have kids. The world had too many of those already and not enough families for them all.”

I didn't realize I read this book last year. I must have had it playing in the background while doing something else, because I didn't remember a lot of it. I am glad I read it again, mostly through kindle this time.

I love the theme of family in this story. The coming together of family, the fierce protectiveness of family and for some the lack of family. A little suspense thrown in and a happy ending makes it complete for a good read.

Although I love BJ Harrison's narration, I think when you get to book 10 in a series, you loose a connection to the characters. The two lead characters in this book sound exactly like two different lead characters in previous books. Don't get me wrong, I love his narration, I just think I will read books 11+ on the kindle to give the characters a "new voice".

Anyone that follows my reviews will know that it is no secret that I love these books, and this world, and honestly - I just want to move there, preferably soon!

This installment gives us Marigold's story and fans of the series have been waiting for her to get her HEA for a while now. Always in the background, but not complaining, we haven't really gotten to know much about this Williams sister ... Until now!

Well this story was fantastic! I especially love that although the focus was on Marigold, we actually got more insight into Alice and Charisma too. Maybe that is a hint that their stories may be in the works somewhere down the line.
Although new fans could probably jump right in with this story as they are all complete in their own rights (no cliffhangers), I am more convinced than ever but at this point you should be sucking it up and reading from the beginning. There are SO MANY layers to the characters and inside jokes that just don't work if you don't know the world. Hey as book 1 is currently free - seriously what do you have to lose?

An Easy 5 stars from me and a distinct need to try and find this place! I think I would fit right in ...... right?

And just when I think I overestimated my enjoyment of this series, a book like this pops up.
It could still use some significant page-chopping, but the story kept me page-turning. Every time I'd think "last chapter!"...I'd get hooked into another.
Fluffy, silly fun.

Tenth in the Nocturne Falls fantasy magical realism mystery series and revolving around a small town in Georgia, a safe haven for supernaturals. The couple focus is on Marigold Williams and Wyatt West.

My Take
I do adore Nocturne Falls — the series and the town. It's a great idea to turn it into a tourist spot, allowing the supernaturals to be themselves.

Painter uses third person dual protagonist point-of-view from Marigold's and Wyatt's perspectives. It's through their eyes that we see everything, hear everything, and know their emotions. I particularly liked Wyatt's description of his suit for the wedding. Ooh là là!

Character arc-wise, Wyatt was in foster care and wants to belong while Marigold is so tired of being single. And while she's attracted to Wyatt, he is a normie . . . and he isn't' drinking the water! Which threatens everyone.

I found the story too easy with Wyatt falling in love and wanting to give a long-distance relationship a try. Neither of them believes they're good enough, but they do believe in doing what's right.

Oh, oh, that auction chase? Oh, boy. The "prize" will lead to some hard decisions.

It's a fun look behind the scenes as Marigold and her team set up the flowers for the wedding.

It's a combination of action and character — both the individual characters and the groups of supernaturals and normals. The pace is a bit slow, oh, it's fun, but it does go on and on. Even if it is an easy read.

Be sure to drink the water.

The Story
Poor Marigold is so tired of being single, especially with everyone around her either engaged or getting married! As for Wyatt, being invited to be Marigold's plus one opens him up to family interaction, Williams style.

Private investigator Wyatt West isn't finding his job so tedious anymore. There's definitely something magical about her, but little does he know just how correct that first impression is.

It's only one date but then their feelings deepen and both agree to try a relationship beyond their current temporary arrangement. Now Marigold must tell him about her witchy side., especially after Wyatt unwittingly frees some dangerous magic.

Marigold knows a life changing sacrifice is the only way to set things right. Will her magic save him? And will he be able to handle the truth that comes with it?

The Characters
Marigold Williams, a green witch, runs the florist shop in town, the Enchanted Garden. Frank the Tank is Marigold's newly adopted shop cat. Saffron "Saffie" is her eleven-year-old daughter who intends to marry Charlie Merrow. She's coming into her witch powers too early. Leah, a wood nymph, is Marigold's only employee besides Joe, her delivery guy. Rollo is Leah's failed drug-sniffing dog. George is the driver for the wholesale supply house.

Pandora Williams, the witchy real estate agent and Marigold's sister, is engaged to Professor Cole Van Zant, a familiar, who works at Harmswood Academy, a supernaturals-only school ( The Professor Woos the Witch , 4). Mrs Fipple, the magic lab monitor, and Miss Boschman work at the academy. His daughter, Kaley, is a witch who sees auras and attends the academy. Jack Van Zant is a familiar who's dating Birdie; he's also Cole's dad. Charisma, another sister and witch, is a life coach. The sisters' mother is Corette "Mimi" Williams who runs the bridal shop, Ever After, and is the coven secretary. Stanhill is Corette's fiancé ("The Witch's Halloween Hero", 4.5). Uncle Roy is a fond memory.

Wyatt West used to be a detective. After the incident, he became a private investigator. Suzanne Anderson is his current client.

Nocturne Falls, Georgia, is . . .
. . . mostly owned by the Ellinghams, a vampire family. Elenora Ellingham is the matriarch who saved her three grandsons. Sebastian is the oldest vampire grandson who's engaged to Tessa Blythe, a valkyrie and librarian ( The Vampire's Fake Fiancée , 5). Hugh is the second oldest and married to Delaney who runs the sweet shop, Delaney's Delectables ( The Vampire's Mail Order Bride , 1). They have a son, George. Julian is the youngest ( The Vampire's Accidental Wife , 8). Alice Bishop is a powerful witch saved by Elenora whom Alice now serves as a secretary, the head of the coven, and is the one who made Nocturne Falls possible.

Birdie Caruthers is a character around whom quite a bit revolves. A werewolf, she's also the police receptionist and the sheriff's auntie. Sheriff Hank Merrow, a werewolf, is married to Ivy, another werewolf ( The Werewolf Meets His Match , 2). They have two children, Charlie whom Hank adopted and their almost one-year-old daughter, Hannah Rose. Deputy Alex Cruz, a panther shifter, is engaged to Roxy St James, a human paranormal romance writer ( The Shifter Romances the Writer , 6). Deputy Jenna Blythe is a valkyrie and Tessa's sister.

Willa Iscove, a fae jeweler, owns Illusions and is engaged to Nick Hardwin, a gargoyle ( The Gargoyle Gets His Girl , 3). Ramona, a brownie, is one of Willa's employees. Jasper is Willa's cat. The shops include The I Scream, Hats in the Belfry, and Mummy's, which is a great diner. Bridget Merrow, Hank and Titus' sister, is also a werewolf and owns Howler's, the popular local dive bar. Jolie is one of the servers. Dexter Guildman, a.k.a. the Wrecking Machine, is a former football player (and tiger shifter) with the Atlanta Thrashers, who owns Guildman's, a menswear store. Potentials were/are Phil Crenshaw who sells insurance and is . . . mediocre, Paolo Mardini, Dennis Prescott, James O'Neill, and Carlos DeMarco. Jayne Frost (Winter princess, Santa's niece, and Jack Frost's daughter) runs Santa's Workshop. Juniper is one of Jayne's employees. Guillermo's is a great Italian restaurant. Ivan "Van" Tsvetkov is a dragon shifter, a former MMA fighter, and a good friend of Pandora's ( The Dragon Finds Forever , 7).

Newt Mathers is a minor wizard and frequent visitor to town. Faleena Smalls, a witch with little power, was banished from the American Council of Witches (ACW).

Millersville, Georgia, is . . .
. . . a neighboring town where Oswald's Auction House is located. Glen Oswald is the manager.

The jaundiced eye is a piece of blood and ash magic.

The Cover and Title
The cover has a bright green background with a frame of flowers. Some of the green includes a few shelves with floral displays and accessories on them. The bottom fourth is a darker green with plenty more flowers. On top of this is a deep blue countertop behind which the blonde Marigold in a deeper green dress is putting together a flower basket. A black cat, Frank the Tank, stands to the right of Marigold on the countertop and stares out at us. On the left is the dark-haired Wyatt in a pale blue button-down shirt and blue jeans standing behind the the series jack-o-lantern perched atop the black post above the brown sign with the series info in a pale yellow. In front of the counter is a tall fern in a white pot. To the right of it is a basket of flowers sitting atop a darker brown box with light brown strapping, Next to it, on a similar box, is a wide shallow blue bowl with three blooms. Next to that is an elaborate book stand with an open book. And next to that is another strapped box with a black witch's hat with a green ribbon and gold buckle. At the top is white text outlined in a thick black for the title. At the bottom is an info blurb with the author's name in white with a thick black outline.

The title states the protagonists, The Detective Wins The Witch, but I'm clueless as to how he wins her.

The Detective Wins the Witch is book 10 in the Nocturne Falls series. This book is about Marigold Williams and Wyatt West. Marigold is a witch and a single mother. She is the sister to Pandora who is the main character in book 4 and the daughter of Corette, who is the main character in book 4.5. Wyatt is a Private Investigator and a newcomer to Nocture Falls. He is human and in the town for business when he meets Marigold.

This book is a little more cute than non-stop action like some of the others, but I was all about it. I loved watching the relationship develop and when the suspense and action happened, it was excellent.

I love this series and I recommend it along with the spin-off series, Jayne Frost. I listened to the Jayne Frost series before starting this series and loved it so much that I wanted to read about all of the side characters that appeared in those books.

The narrator is the same for the entire Nocturne Falls series. He does an excellent job!

2019 bk 242. Marigold, a greenwitch, is busy preparing the flowers for her sister's wedding when a customer asks her to sit proxy for him at a local auction. Agreeing to do so results in major life changes for Marigold as she meets the human detective with whom she will fall in love, is attacked by muggers (hmmm, we never did find out who paid them to attack her), and learns firsthand about evil.

It seems like it's been forever since I've visited Nocturne Falls. I forgot how much I loved it there. I can officially say that it's been added to my list of favorite fictional places to visit.

I was excited to see that Marigold's story was next on my list to discover. Y'all know how much of a sucker I am when it comes to the single parent trope and this one did not disappoint. Marigold seems to be everyone's favorite and I would have to agree with them. There is just something about her that makes her special. Between her unconditional love, protective nature, selflessness, loyalty, and all around happy vibe, you can't help but love her and want the best for her.

Enter Wyatt. If ever there were a perfect match for Marigold, it would be him. Life hasn't been the easiest for him, but I think that's what makes him so perfect for her. He sees all of her and wants to be the one to help her discover just how amazing she really is. Their relationship was so sweet and swoonworthy. I had no problem cheering them on as they finally got the HEA they both deserved. *dreamy sigh*

And I can't forget little Saffron. Y'all. That girl is going to be an even bigger handful as she gets older! She'll be keeping them on their toes that's for sure. But oh how I loved that beautiful little Witchling! She's seriously the best and oh so sweet!

I've said it before, but I'll say it again. One of my favorite things about series like this is seeing old friends and meeting new ones. I loved catching up with several of them and I now have this strong desire to go back and reread some of their stories just because I can. But there's more stories to discover first. I already have them downloaded and ready to go!

It's easy to see why Ms. Painter became one of my favorite authors. She knows how to suck me in and hold me hostage until the very end. I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us next!

And of course I can't forget my casting. I'm kinda really loving these two! What do you think?

Marigold Williams, Green Witch and florest extraordinary, has never had the best of luck in love. She also doesn’t want to date a normie (non-supernatural). Unfortunately, she finds herself attaracted to a normie when she attends auction on behalf of a client. The story was well written and made me laugh, cry and I didn’t want to put it down. We got to learn more about Charisma and Alice which for me was a bonus in the book. I highly recommend reading the Nocturne Falls series by Kristen painter prior to reading this book as although it is a stand alone, there is a sorry arc that ties the series together and you will feel like not everything lines up if you haven’t read them. Highly recommended. One of the best I’ve read recently.

I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest
I am so glad that it is Marigold's turn in the series.
This was also a very cute + sweet story.
Marigold is a single mom trying to survive in the retail world.
It does help to have a green thumb, when you own a flower shop
Wyatt was on business when he arrived in Nocturne Falls.
He did not know what to make of the town, but he was intrigued by the idea.
The chemistry was there, but I was glad that they took their time to grow the relationship.
I had no doubt that they were perfect for each other.
I loved the storytelling + the characters
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Sigh… This book was sooooo beautiful. With every book in the Nocturne Falls series, it just keep getting better and better.

Marigold, one I’ve been curious about for sometimes, got her own story now. She’s not looking for love, just like Wyatt wasn’t looking for anything serious. Yet they both got what they’re not looking for, though it’s something they needed. I understand completely Marigold’s and Wyatt’s reservation, and the development between them was just so beautiful. He couldn’t be more perfect for Marigold.

The book in the series don’t come fast enough for me, yet the waiting was so much worth it as I love every single one of them.

I was provided a complementary copy by the author / publisher, but this in no way influenced my thoughts or opinions.

well, Kristen did it again! This was another amazing addition to the series. It was so nice to get Marigold’s book. I just love her and her family. We get a great scene with Alice. I love how the author always includes a lot of the characters we’ve already read about. Wyatt was nice and hunky. There was also some really funny parts. This series is always so inspirational for me. I just feel so happy and upbeat when I read them. The last scene is my favorite. It was so clever to think of one of the lines the heroine uses.

This is a cute romance between witchy florist Marigold Williams and human private investigator Wyatt West. Marigold has been a great supporting character in several other books and deserves her own happily ever after. Plus there are a lot of things about this book that make it unique -- including the villain and the ending. One criticism, is that like many other books in the series, some of the conflict comes from the characters keeping secrets from each other, which I don't really like.

What an adorable addition to the Nocturne Falls Series! So many twists, and so many lovable characters! I absolutely loved it! Mr. West is the best match for Marigold, and I enjoyed the interaction he had with Saffie as well! And oh boy, little Charlie better watch out! 😂 I especially loved the humor in the ending tag line... I can’t wait for more from Kristen Painter!

Mari for the win!!

I enjoyed this trip back into Nocturne Falls and delighted in the unconventional romance between Marigold, a talented green witch and single mother, and Wyatt, a human P.I.. Mystery, magic, and mayhem abounded in, largely, the best of ways creating a memorable and emotional story.

I loved this book, so happy to see Marigold get her HEA. I really liked Wyatt as well, he and Marigold were a great match and Saffie adored him as well. I hope the last Williams sister, Charisma finds her HEA soon as well!

It's Marigold's turn to shine and she ends up tangled in something a little sticky. Well, sticky by Nocturne Falls standards. Which is downright bonkers compared to normal standards. Considering Wyatt the hunky detective who ends up crossing paths with her is decidedly human, that's where the sticky comes in.

Fortunately for Marigold, a few days spent in NF among the supernaturals (although Wyatt isn't aware they're REAL supernaturals) opens Wyatt's mind just enough that he isn't entirely blown away when the truth comes out. And it does come out. Unfortunately for Marigold, it comes out when dark magic crosses their path and they have to figure out how to fix things before they become unfixable. Well, mostly Marigold has to figure out how to fix it, but Wyatt gets pulled into the middle of things in a BIG way.

Magic, mayhem, a wedding, dangerous individuals, and a whole lot of familiar faces. Marigold and Wyatt have a lot of deal with, but they make things work. Eventually.

Four and a half stars.
This book was slightly different than the others as it has a more fashioned feeling of a romance and damsel in distress, however this damsel might be strong and capable of taking care of herself.
This is a story of Marigold the witch, who we know very well from the previous stories, and Wyatt, a human private investigator. I mostly liked it a lot, however, there were some parts I did not like that much, hence the half star down.
Firstly, the plot was very interesting and multilayered. There was a lot of magic, there was a competitive bidding, there were villains, and there was this overlaying theme of a pending wedding, overtaking everyone's attention most of the time. The latter was the part that I thought was a bit much. However, the previous magical part and the villains was really interesting and gripping. As I mentioned in some of my previous reviews, The author makes her villains proper villains, and the romance so incredibly romantic.
As for the characters, Wyatt was great, absolute perfection of a person, warm, caring, brave, protective, simply amazing. Marigold, oh well, I liked her a lot less than I thought I would. She is and incredibly capable, strong, independent and powerful person, who is so riddled by her insecurities, self-doubts, self-imposed loneliness and ridiculous rules, that she comes across as a damsel in distress who cannot function without a man. Mind you, she has been doing great on her own for over a decade as a single mom and a successful business owner and a powerful witch. So why the insecurities and moping over Mr. Right and a ring on her finger? Why does not feeling pretty come across as one of her most prominent characteristics? And for a woman that amazing... Anyway, that was the other point of my dislike. I liked everything else about this story.
The amount of characters that pass through this book seemed so much more than in the previous ones, probably because of the wedding, but it was so great to have them all present.
Little dislikes aside, I enjoyed this book greatly. Kristen Painter never disappoints. Can't wait for the next book in the series.
The Nocturne Falls is a great series and the reading order is: The Vampire's Mail Order Bride (Nocturne Falls #1), The Werewolf Meets His Match (Nocturne Falls #2), The Gargoyle Gets His Girl (Nocturne Falls, #3), The Professor Woos The Witch (Nocturne Falls, #4), and The Witch’s Halloween Hero (Nocturne Falls #4.5) in Spell of the Ball Anthology, The Werewolf's Christmas Wish (Nocturne Falls #4.6) in Hex the Halls Anthology, The Vampire’s Fake Fiancée (Nocturne Falls #5), A Vampire's Valentine Surprise (Nocturne Falls #5.5), Miss Frost Solves A Cold Case: A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost #1), The Shifter Romances The Writer (Nocturne Falls #6), Miss Frost Ices The Imp: A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost #2), The Vampire’s True Love Trials (Nocturne Falls #6.5) in Taming the Vampire collection, Miss Frost Saves The Sandman: A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost #3), The Dragon Finds Forever (Nocturne Falls #7), The Vampire's Accidental Wife (Nocturne Falls #8), Miss Frost Cracks A Caper: A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost #4), Miss Frost Braves The Blizzard: A Nocturne Falls Mystery (Jayne Frost #5), The Reaper Rescues The Genie (Nocturne Falls #9), The Detective Wins The Witch (Nocturne Falls Book 10) and ever growing series of Nocturne Universe Novels, which surpassed 40 by now. Great world to get yourself immersed in.

As usual Painter writes with witty dialogue, fleshed out characters and visits from other Nocturne Falls characters. I am hoping Birdie gets a HEA soon.
I would move to Nocturne Falls in a heartbeat if it was a real place, with all the fun characters included. I’ve been a fan of these books since the first one and I’m looking forward to more.
Marigold has always been a good character. Single mom of a budding witch who, at 11, is getting her powers early and already planning her wedding to the Sheriffs son Charlie. Marigold works as a florist, a fitting vocation for a green witch. When she meets our hero, she is doing a favour for a local while also planning floral arrangements for her sister’s wedding, plus other weddings in town.
Wyatt is a homicide turned private detective, raised in foster care after losing both parents at 4 and an aunt by 5 years old. He doesn’t know what family feels like and isn’t sure he wants to when he stumbles into our heroine at an auction. They are both after the same items.
The mystery was ok, but predictable, bad witches and wizards, an evil pendant, good guy life-saving and eventual taking out of the baddies and everything works out. I’m left wondering if the news of Marigold’s ex, Saffie’s father, returning a real threat or was Newt messing with Marigold? That was unresolved.
The romance seemed too easy. Wyatt wavered between wanting to try and have a family, marriage etc to determined bachelorhood multiple times in a seemingly confused manner and then he is in love. All over the course of a few action-packed days. But, this is a supernatural town, so anything is possible.
I was hoping they would have discovered Wyatt had some latent supernatural DNA in him, which would explain why he sensed danger before it happened. Much like Roxy had in her bloodline and when they discovered hunter Abigail Van Helsing was a werewolf.
Wyatt’s quick interaction with Marigold’s daughter was humorous, if we see more of this couple in future books it would be good to get a glimpse of their relationship also.
The bad witch, Faleena Smalls, I initially thought she may have been Saffron’s paternal grandmother and that had been the danger Newt had warned Marigold about. I do wonder if this character was named after a certain controversial author, she was the first person I thought of when I read her name.
This is a good addition to this quirky world of supernatural. I look forward to the next one.

This is a great book; this is the tenth book in the Nocturne Falls series written by Kristen Painter. This book can be read as a standalone but if you read this one you will want to go back and read the other books in this wonderful series. Nocturne Falls is a town that celebrates Halloween every day of the year and also a place that paranormal’s can live and not have to hide what they really are. Wyatt West is a private investigator and is sent to bid on a rare family piece by the woman who has hired him. Marigold Williams is a single mom and is asked to also bid on an item. Wyatt and Marigold are instantly attracted to each other. They also realize that they are both also bidding on the same items and that the items are actually holding a very dangerous magic that they accidentally release. This book will keep you up reading way past your bedtime because you will not want to put it down. I can’t wait to read the next book by this great author.

The William's sisters have always been a huge part of the Nocturne Falls series, as a family of witches, each running business in the town; they normally always feature in the books.

Marigold is a single mum to a young witchling. Her flower shop well known and well-loved by the town's residents. But her story was the first one where I thought it went on a bit too long. Having read The Reaper Rescues the Genie directly before this, I was surprised by how long this book stretched on for.

A bit too much of the story was dedicated to Wyatt, the detective from the title, going over his thoughts and feelings. Perhaps his human origins left him a little bland as a character; there was no monster backstory or supernatural lore that needed to be explained or demonstrated for him.

I still enjoyed the story, but it lingered just a bit too long for my tastes, so a rare 4 stars instead of 5 for this instalment of Nocturne Falls.

REAL MAGIC--Count on talented Painter to make the core of the Nocturne Falls stories so substantial. She never disappoints. Not only do we finally get to see Marigold find her match, but we see the challenges and possibilities of a human in the supernatural world of Nocturne Falls from the progenitor herself. And of course after much genuine intrigue Painter delivers a twist ending sure to satisfy. The details bring this story to life: from the inclusion of some of our NFU faves like Corette and Birdie, Willa, Pandora, Sheriff Merrow and sister Bridget, to seeing more of the adorable little Saffie and Charlie Merrow. We all get to the see more details about how magic works in the canonical NFU and its fascinating, it fleshes it out and makes the world of NF even more real.
