Recommends it for: kids who like scary stories
This reminds me of that episode of Buffy where a curse--or a spell, or something, whatever it was--turns everyone into whatever they're dressed as for Halloween. Except not as funny. Or as scary. And without the benefit of Giles getting all unexpectedly hot at the end and laying the smackdown. Mmm, Tony Head...

...what was I saying? Oh, right. This is still pretty good, for what it is. It's unsettling, the idea of putting something on for a while, only to realize too late that, not only can you n

Excellent. This is frightening book and actually contained some pretty well-written passages.

Carly Beth (love the double name! Woot!) is a scaredy-cat. This wouldn't be so bad - except for the fact that everyone (her little brother, people at school, even her friends) thinks it is really funny to scare her. To make her jump and shriek and scream. It's easy to do. This leads to some pretty cruel practical jokes being played on Carly Beth - worms in her sandwich, etc.

This stand second among the list of my favorite goosebumps book series! :)

R.L. Stine's 'The Haunted Mask' is the eleventh book in the series of the higly-acclaimed Goosebumps. This book follows a girl named Carly Caldwell who was teased of being the most unscary girl in the block when it comes to halloween costumes and the like. So, Carly founds herself at a Halloween store and buys a downright scary looking mask, little does she know that after putting on the mask,
Doesn't matter how old I get, this will always be my favourite Goosebumps story. At least one of, if ever I find myself incapable of picking just one. Yeah, i've heard these are at a 2nd grade reading level, but whatever. Child of 90s. R.L.Stine. Need I say more? LoL

Carly Beth is easily frightened and is teased because her friends think it's funny. This Halloween, it's her turn to scare Chuck & Steve. Two guys who tease her mercilessly. She finds the perfect mask and gets the thrill of scari

Unlike other reviewers I have not seen a movie or read a book like this. So for the first of its kind for me it was really good. I got through it in about two hours. I just got done reading a book and started reading this one while I waited for Myspace to load and wouldnt you know it, I finished the book before Myspace finished loading!

I can not wait to read The Haunted Mask 2. This book grabbed me from the start. I've always liked Halloween but could never celebrate it the American way due to
I never read this book first time around, but I did see the (awesome) episode of the TV series, so I had a fairly good idea of what was happening.

Cover story: Freaky mask. Looks like we're in for a spooky time.
MC: Carly Beth. Scaredy cat. Bullied by her whole school, including friends for this fact. Yikes.
The run down: Carly Beth's only personality trait is that she's a scaredy cat. So this Halloween she wants to do the scaring.
Cliff hangers: 11
Doomed ending: Yes!
Bonus name Mrs Armbruster. Awes

This book is supposed to be for primary school students? Nah, screw it. I still get frightened when I read this series. ><

This book follows a girl name Carly Beth who usually gets scared easily by her friends, which makes her embarrassed most of the time. Wanting to get revenge on her friends on Halloween night, she decided to find herself the scariest mask in order to scare the two boy who always make her scream like a jerk at school. Seeing the custom which was made by her mom looks not
The book I am reviewing is Goosebumps the haunted mask by RL Stines. It is a science fiction book. My thinking of the books theme would be never try to do anything with a bad intention because if you do it you might be in big trouble and also love can destroy all evil in the world.

This book is about a girl named Carly Beth. She has lots of friends like chuck, Steve and Sabrina. The only problem is they really enjoy scaring Carly beth like usual she always gets scared one day chuck and Steve snea

Okay I know that this is a Goosebumps book, but this is actually one of the better ones. Some of them I don't really care for but I really like this one because's it's a true horror story. I first read it back when I was 9 and it terrified me. It's about a girl who is easy to scare named Carly Beth. She is constantly teased for being so easily frightened, especially by her two friends Chuck and Steve who scare her every chance they get. As Halloween approaches, Carly Beth decides to get even wit ...more

The Haunted Mask, written by R.L. Stine is part of a series of children’s fiction/horror books.

Carly Beth is an 11 year old girl who scares easily, making her an easy target for entertainment amongst her peers. Even Carly Beth’s 8 year old brother scares her by doing things such as jumping out at her.

Carly Beth is fed up of being so easily frightened and the one that everyone laughs at. She is looking to pay her friends back once and for all. With Halloween fast approaching and Carly Beth’s mum’

Definitivamente uno de los mejores libros de la serie hasta el momento. He leído 19.

The Haunted Mask is a book about a poor girl who is bullied, doesn't have good friends, is easily scared and is not old enough to dress (or undress) herself like a Catwoman or a Sexy Nurse for Halloween.

However, this is one of the most known books of Goosebumps, it has a good story, a strange shopkeeper, mean kids, a girl who wants revenge and off course the scariest mask ever.

I believe this book really teaches kids not get revenges for beeing bullied, and to find confort and love on their fami

Like many children growing up in the late nineties/ early 2000s, I was utterly obsessed with Goosebumps. Loved the books. Loved the show. Loved getting the pants scared off me. I think it is safe to say that R.L. Stine launched my lifelong love for the gory, the horrible, or the just-plain twisted in books and movies. The guy knew EXACTLY what kids wanted in books. Cool-ass covers? Check. Not too long a read? Check. Scary (at least at the time)? Big ole' check! Were these books masterpieces? Hec ...more

This book is about a girl called Carly Beth who wants a really scary mask for Halloween. She then finds a really scary mask at the party shop that the store owner doesn't want to sell her. However she soon discovers that as she wears the mask her personality starts to change and suddenly she finds it very difficult to take off the mask.
I actually enjoy these stories, as a child I found them really scary but now I've discovered that they are rather tame. But then they are stories written for child

Haunted Mask is an obvious parody of the classic science fiction story. Including a plot structure of normal kids getting involved in scary situations and twists. Thankfully the central conflict appeared to resolve itself in the end and the kids were ok.

Having forgotten much of the storyline, I will be re-living my goosebumps days and skimming through them in the coming months!

The haunted mask is about a girl who needs a mask for halloween,so she buys one from a haunted mask store and when she goes trick or treating and she puts on the mask she goes around the neighborhood and starts scaring people and she and when she starts to lose control of herself she tries to take off the mask and she can't and the mask starts ton control her and because it's a haunted mask and it makes her do stuff like scare people and so she comes up with a plan to take off the mask and when ...more
The Haunted Mask is one of the best stories I've read. R.L STINE stories are always good. What I like about this story is that it is very interesting and it is very exciting. Almost everything is perfect in this story and I like how it is interesting. What I don't like about this story is that it is a bit short, because of how nice it is you want it to be longer than how it is. This story is mostly about horror. It takes place in Halloween. The mood in the story is thrilling.

I'm watched the movie version of this book :) after that, I think if something that happened on Carly Beth happened on us it must be really scary. I can't imagine if the mask can't get off from our face and it stick with our face forever. This book have 3 important life lesson that so relatable with child's life condition nowadays :
- LOVE YOURSELF no matter what
people do & think about you :) Don't try
to be somebody that you're not.
- People who seems to make fun & let
down us not alw

R.L. Stine's "Goosebumps" series influenced by love of reading. I started reading the series when I was ten. I started reading them in French and then started reading them in English a year later. "The Haunted Mask" was the first book I read in the series in French and the first English book of the series I read.

This book terrified me as a child. For a ten-year-old, it's a frightening premise and you can kind of relate to it in a strange way.

I think I may rate/review more of the series, mainly b

Goosebumps by R.L. Stine is a popular children's series amongst the young. It is supposed to be scary and suspenseful through words providing detailed imagery. It has limited pictures but still creates detailed images in your mind through imagination. It’s stories were known for teaching lessons and valuing morals using fear as key. For example, a bully may have been punished for doing wrong through others. The author amazing word play and suspenseful techniques brought fame to his books. Gooseb ...more
