After earning a Creative Writing degree from George Mason University and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Radford, I taught high school English until becoming a mommy. I've always had a heart for teens, and writing YA stories gives me the opportunity to delve into the ambiguities of those pivotal years before adulthood.
I live in the D.C. area with my husband, daughter, son and puppy Rue.

Eeep!! What a neat adventure! I don't want to say too much or give anything away, but I loved the historical aspect of it - the story was rich in detail. The ending definitely makes you need the next book, especially that last line!

“Although it may not seem like it, this isn’t a story about darkness. It’s about light. Kahlil Gibran says Your joy
can fill you only as deeply your sorrow has carved you. If you’ve never tasted bitterness, sweet is just another
pleasant flavor on your tongue. One day I’m going to hold a lot of joy.”
Karen Marie Moning

“Someone needs to tell those tales. When the battles are fought and won and lost, when the pirates find their treasures and the dragons eat their foes for breakfast with a nice cup of Lapsang souchong, someone needs to tell their bits of overlapping narrative. There's magic in that. It's in the listener, and for each and every ear it will be different, and it will affect them in ways they can never predict. From the mundane to the profound. You may tell a tale that takes up residence in someone's soul, becomes their blood and self and purpose. That tale will move them and drive them and who knows what they might do because of it, because of your words. That is your role, your gift. Your sister may be able to see the future, but you yourself can shape it, boy. Do not forget that... there are many kinds of magic, after all.”
Erin Morgenstern, The Night Circus

“I never thought about it before, but I'm proud to be human. We're ever so flawed. We're frail, confused, violent, and we struggle with so many issues. But all in all, I'm proud to be a Daughter of Man.”

Oh! I do have something to say ... or rather ask. I'm going to be up in the D.C./Virginia area later this summer and I was wondering if you had any signings of whatnot this summer. It'd be a dream come true to meet you in real life :D

Hi Merita! Thank you so much for your sweet words!!!
I have no plans to write novellas for the secondary characters at this time, but it's something I'm open to in the future!! :) Hopefully I'll get some inspiration for that!
Hugs to you, Wendy

Merita Hi Wendy,

I just wanted to say a few things:
#1 You are a freaking awesome author
#2 Thank you for Kaidan and Anna and the rest of the gang
#3 Keep up the great work.

Sweet Evil was amazing, Sweet Peril was even more amazing (if that's possible) and I think Goodreads needs more stars because I think Sweet Reckoning wont have enough stars on here to rate it.

Do you think you might ever release novellas for Blake, Ginger, Marna, Blake and Kaidan. I would love to read from their POV and would like to know them a little bit better.

Anyways Thanks again,
You are awesome :)

When it comes to paranormal/YA/fantasy lately I don't pick stuff up with my expectations set high. I LOVED this. I loved the fresh view and (even though I feel creepy for saying so since I'm 31 and his character was 17) Kaidan! I enjoyed Anna immensely, a strong female lead. Great, great book. Thank you.
