It was...cute. Nothing spectacular, but a good story. I did find it predictable and heavy on certain tropes, and most of the secondary characters were lacking any personality they all felt one dimensional. But I did find it a quick read and enjoyable ...more

I really enjoyed this book! It reminded me of a few other books in the same genre like The Selection series and The Jewel it's not the more harsh dystopian I prefer but, it was well written. Oh and I did love Bishop! I look forward to the next book.

4 stars! A good story! This is hard to review! I was expecting fantasy from the description and the cover. But it's not fantasy. Well it is but, not like the fantasy I was expecting. It has aspects of fantasy as well as some sci-fi, steampunk, and ev ...more

I loved this! Meeting Viv and Henley in Kill Me Softly was cool but actually reading their story was amazing! I think... No I know I love Henley more than Blue. And poor Viv I totally got her fears. I really hope Sarah decides to write more stories f ...more

“There's always another storm. It's the way the world works. Snowstorms, rainstorms, windstorms, sandstorms, and firestorms. Some are fierce and others are small. You have to deal with each one separately, but you need to keep an eye on whats brewing for tomorrow.”
Maria V. Snyder, Fire Study

“Yalena: Could you always open your door?
Kiki: Yes. Fence, too.
Yalena Why don't you?
Kiki: Hay sweet. Fresh water. Peppermints.”

Cassandra Clare
“I was thinking about the first time I ever saw you," he said, "and how after that I couldn't forget you. I wanted to, but I couldn't stop myself. I forced Hodge to let me be the one who came to find you and bring you back to the Institue. And even back then, in that stupid coffee shop, when I saw you sitting on that couch with Simon, even then that felt wrong to me-- I should have been the one sitting with you. The one who made you laugh like that. I couldn't get rid of that feeling. That it should have been me. And the more I knew you, the more I felt it--it had never been like that for me before. I'd always wanted a girl and then gotten to know her and not wanted her anymore, but with you the feeling just got stronger and stronger until that night when you showed up at Renwick's and I knew.”
Cassandra Clare, City of Glass

“Living is a risk," I snapped at him. "Every decision, every interaction, every step, every time you get out of bed in the morning, you take a risk. To survive is to know you're taking that risk and to not get out of bed clutching illusions of safety.”
Maria V. Snyder, Magic Study

Cassandra Clare
“I have a fetish for damsels in distress.”
“Don’t be sexist.”
“Not at all. My services are also available to gentlemen in distress. It’s an equal opportunity fetish.”
Cassandra Clare, City of Glass
