About the author

Karen Cushman was born in Chicago, Illinois.

She entered Stanford University on a scholarship in 1959 and graduated with degrees in Greek and English. She later earned master’s degrees in human behavior and museum studies.

For eleven years she was an adjunct professor in the Museum Studies Department at John F. Kennedy University before resigning in 1996 to write full-time.

She lives on Vashon Island, Washington with her husband, Philip.

Il libro è stato scelto totalmente a caso. Non sapevo cosa stavo per andare a leggere, mi piace fare queste pazzie ogni tanto. I primi capitoli non mi sono piaciuto per niente, a tal punto che a metà libro volevo mollare. Però mi sono detta sono arrivata fin qui perché non finirlo? Al massimo rimarrò ferma sulla mia opinione. Non è stato così Matilda Bone è un libro di crescita, un libro che ti porta in una realtà molto vecchia siamo nel 1300 circa. La trasformazione avvenuta all'interno del libro della piccola Matilde mi ha commosso. Il tema ricorrente della religione mi ha dato molti spunti di riflessione, mentre le cure mediche dell'epoca mi sono piaciute molto. La scrittura è fluida, comprensibile e molto semplice. Il bilanciamento tra dialoghi e descrizione è ben fatto come piace a me. Forse avrei preferito qualche descrizione in più ma avrebbe tolto il punto centrale che è la trama. Lo consiglio? Si, non rimanete fermi ai primi capitoli ma portatelo a termine ne vale la pena
