I really liked Savage Nature, the 5th book in Christine Feehan’s Leopard Series and is my favorite so far.
 photo images207_zpsh54sxxzy.jpg
I adored the two main characters … Drake Donovan, powerful alpha male, who respects the heroine’s strength and independence, …
 photo images_zpsyhur8lcl.jpg
The heroine, Saria Boudreau was a character I could relate to. Despite the lonely life she has led since a child in the bayou, she has never lost her humanity….yes, she’s a leopard shifter…something she had no idea about!!! Her many brothers believed that keeping her in the dark was the way to protect her!!!! I fell in love with her!!!

Helping Drake to resolve the case of murders happening in the bayou is an enthralling adventure…..not just getting a insight into the dark and dangerous setting……

which is written so vividly and brings it to life – you feel, you see and you hear!!!!

I loved watching Drake & Saria falling in love…

The secondary characters were so well-developed and loved seeing characters from the previous books.

The author has created yet another fantastic series!!!!

Saria Bordeaux, is part of a family of leopard shifter, so when she finds a dead body in the bayou, she knows she needs to find help, and knows that she can't turn to her brothers, when its obvious the one doing the killing is a shifter. Drake Donovan has been sent to investigate upon hearing about the killing, and is drawn to Saria in a way he has never been drawn to a woman before. Drake knows that there is much more to Saria than meets the eye, and is earnest in finding the killer. Saria, has the strongest feeling upon meeting Drake that he is someone that she can trust, even more than her own brothers. The hunger that is building between her and Drake is powerful, and the connection between them genuine, so much so that she starts to wish for a future with him....
Savage Nature is the fifth installment in the Leopard series by Christine Feehan. I just was so captivated by this story, so far I have truly enjoyed reading this series, but I think this would have to be my favorite book in the series. From the first page I was drawn into the story, the characters were so genuine and real, that I was left feeling like I was in their place, the writing was with such talent that I felt I was seeing it happening for real. The plot was intense and full of a roller coaster ride of suspense and romance. A Thrilling Tale!!!! One you don't want to miss out on if your a fan of Christine Feehan!!!!

As you all know, I am a monster Feehan fan. If she wrote the instruction manual to a toaster I would probably read it as long as I knew there would be a sex scene, therefore, if you are a Feehan player hater, feel free to take this review with a grain of salt.

The leopard people are not normally my favorite, but my coworker told me to give the series a second chance and I am so glad I did! This book had everything I am looking for in a paranormal- a fun fast paced mystery, well drawn characters and a wonderful romance between two characters who deserved a happily ever after!

I think that as a heroine, Saria is a perfect cross between ass kicking and relatable. Many times I dislike the "tough girl" in a romance novel because she comes across as bitchy or mean spirited. To me, Saria was the perfect cross between tough and smart and vulnerable and feminine. I really enjoyed that Drake was able to appreciate both sides of her and wasn't all "I am going to protect you! Now stay in my bedroom forever!" It was sweet the way that he realized that she was more knowledgeable about the swamp and deferred to her expertise even though he was a macho alpha dude.

I also have dislike the leopard peeps in the past because sometimes the mating/ heat stuff is gross to me, but it is dialed back a bit in this one. Not a ton of sex scenes, but the ones present were very sweet and appealing and romantic to me. The only thing I was really disappointed about is that the sequel isn't out yet- confidential to Christine- please say that you will write a book for all 5 of Saria's brothers? Or at least one for Remy?

The story of Saria and Drake is another passion-filled adventure in the Leopard People saga.

Feehan's descriptions of the beauty and dangers of the swamp resonated with this Florida girl (even though it was a Louisiana bayou setting). If you have ever shared water with alligators, the scene in which Saria leads Drake's team through the bayou at night was particularly terrifying.

I agree with friends who expressed disappointment in Drake's treatment of Saria. Even though he is a very likable hero, he fell down at several key times when he could have put Saria's needs first.

Anyhoo, the missing parts of words and jumbled letters were a deciding point for me in the 3-star rating. No doubt it was a software problem when converting the text to an electronic version, but it should have been fixed before releasing. A large number of sentences and phrases had to be re-read, and some of the phrases were undecipherable. Still, there is plenty to enjoy in Savage Nature. It is worth the read if you are making your way through the Leopard People series.

Savage Nature is book 5 in the Leopard People series, by Christine Feehan . This is another fun read of the Leopard People’s intrigues in a bayou region of Louisiana. I love the world-building in a swamp so eloquently described.

Saria Boudreaux, who is 8 years younger in family of five other brothers, all leopard shifters, made it easier for her to be comfortable in a swamp and marsh with dangerous animals as a photographer. However, she encountered a murdered body. Besides a knife, the person was killed with a crushed neck similar to what a leopard would use. She couldn’t communicate this to police, as her elder brother Remy was a homicide detective on the local police. After discovering more bodies in the bayou marshes, she attempted to communicate to the owner of the locations of the deaths. Being in a small town community conventional mail was intercepted and placed on her pirogue to be found. Finding it she took it to an unconventional individual to secretly under oath to get it get it mailed out of her small town.

The response came to her in the form of another leopard shapeshifter, Drake Donovan, during the midst of her emerging Han Vol Dan generating an insta-lust scenario upon meeting.

This foundation of the story was only the beginning of a fantastic most convoluted action packed adventure, and of course STEAMY romance. Subsequent discoveries of illegal drug manufacturing and distribution driven by this small town community unraveled explosively.

I dare not give any more information, because you should Read This Book if you are adult.

I’m very much liking this adult series.

Love this series. It feels like it has been forever sense I have read anything new for this series. So it took me a chapter or two to have it click who Drake is. Then I was super excited. This was a wonderful read with a super hot Alpha male who knows his mate right off. I love how he would command and it was all in a smooth soft steely voice. Yummm... Saria was the perfect for for him. She was really wonderful for me to read. I loved her personality. She was a grab life by the horns type of gal , she was bluntly honest and that was refreshing. The way that the two of them interacted was really great. I mean Drake was always there no matter what. Constantly wanting to sooth, comfort and caress at any given chance. You have gotta love the protective streak! I think I fell in love with Saria's brothers as well. Man oh man I hope there is a book about Remy. Ok well any of them.

There was plenty of action and for me I kinda figured out who did what by mid book. Maybe it was a lucky guess I don't know. But I do know that the reason behind what was happening I was confused by until the end of the book. The sex was super hot. Wow!!! Overall it was a wonderful addition to the series and I cant wait for more. Wonder who it will be about??

Feehan was my first introduction to paranormal romance. I'd bought and loved one of her earlier gothic romances, so I bought her backlist from Dorchester with a coupon torn out from the back of a paperback. The books arrived-- and all I could think was "WHAT is this VAMPIRE crap?" Since I'd bought them, though, I figured I should pretend to read them...so I did. And I was hooked. One of the things I love most about Feehan is the way her heroes and heroines-- particularly the heroines-- have grown and changed over her career. Her heroes may be strong alpha males and they may play sexy, sexy games with the heroines-- but they have a real healthy respect for the women they love and her strength and grit is a real factor in their love. SAVAGE NATURE has a feisty, independent heroine and I loved watching her explore her relationship with the hero. The incredible descriptions of the bayou and swamps were also lovely.

Favorite Quote: “I think my leopard is a freakin’ hussy!”

Savage Nature is the 5th book in Christine Feehan’s seductive Leopard People series.

A heady passionate seductive story filled with romance, suspense, and my favorite…shapeshifters. Rowr!!! I’ve waited for Drake’s story and I’m pleased to say that I feel this is the best one in the series. Feehan blends a sweet and steamy love story with action packed tension that kept me glued to the pages. Each are given adequate attention without either overpowering the other.

Drake Donovan comes to the bayou of Louisiana after a mysterious letter is received by his boss, Jake Banniconni (Burning Wild), hinting at men being killed on his land by shifters. When Drake arrives he meets Saria Bouderaux. A guide for hire, Saria agrees to take Drake through the swamps. Drake is stunned to see that not only is Saria a leopard shifter but his leopard feels she is his mate. She is also entering the Han Vol Dame-meaning she’s going into heat. Drake realizes that Saria has no idea that her leopard is about to emerge so he tries his best to prepare her for the transformation. As Drake romances and prepares Saria for what is to come, they are also investigating the situation. Drake realizes that the lair that claims this bayou as their own is inherently wrong. Inbreeding and overly aggressive males has Drake fighting for dominance and Saria’s safety.

I really like Drake and Saria. While Drake is a commanding alpha, he’s not dominant to the point of being unlikable. He’s also not given to speaking the “creepy” dialogue that some of Feehan’s men seem to suffer from. Drake is very tender and caring about Saria; especially when he realizes she has no clue to what is going on with her body. He makes sure she knows and willing accepts what he is trying to offer her. No forced seduction here.

Saria was born and bred in the bayou. Practically raising herself due to her absent brothers and an alcoholic father, she is very independent, intelligent, and self reliant. She has a healthy respect for the bayou and it’s threats and it shows in her actions. She shows a great deal of intelligence when dealing with Drake. She knows she is attracted to him but realizes that she needs to think all this through. She just doesn’t accept the “mating” issue but she also doesn’t try to be coy about her feelings for him. There is plenty of humorous dialogue between Drake and Saria as she fights to control her leopard and her leopard’s “hussy” ways.

Feehan lets their romance build slowly over the course of the story and it creates such a passionate seductive storyline. There are some scenes in here between them that will have you wondering if it’s at all possible to read this while taking a cold shower.

Our secondary characters are just as robust and full bodied as our protagonists. They provide some humorous scenes and keep the storyline right on target and moving swiftly. We see some old friends from previous books and meet some new ones. Saria’s brothers are all major players in here and I cannot wait to read their stories; especially Remy’s. Our villain(s) are many yet we slowly check off each one as we gravitate towards the ending. The lair in the bayou is rotten and you can smell the evil that fosters it. Feehan does a wonderful job of keeping you misdirected and wondering as we sort through the lies and deception to arrive at the core of the problem.

The ending is wonderfully fraught with tension and suspense. Ms. Feehan does a fantastic job of building up to the climax for a smashing finale that leaves you breathless and satisfied. I truly enjoyed this story and I recommend this series to everyone who enjoys an action packed suspense filled sexy shifter PNR. I will certainly be looking forward to the 6th Leopard People’s story- to be announced at a later date.

Narrated by Karen White - Narration 4 1/2*

Reviewed for AAR's Speaking of Audiobooks 8/11/11 http://www.likesbooks.com/blog/?p=6846

With Savage Nature, the fifth in the Leopard series, Christine Feehan moves the setting from the Rain Forests of South America to the swamps of the Louisiana Bayou. She stays with her standard “couples are fated to be together” style but the story is interesting in other ways and moves at a fast pace. Beyond the main couple, Feehan’s other standard is to bring in a supporting cast of reoccurring and new characters. She shows both the camaraderie and fierce loyalty between them in a way I enjoy each time.

Saria Boudreaux has known her older brothers were leopard shifters since the age of ten but they’ve never voiced it to her. So when she starts discovering bodies killed by a leopard bite while photographing wildlife in a deserted marsh, she turns to the landowner who sends Drake Donavon to investigate. Drake is a running character in this series known for having a leg injury repaired by steel plates which means he no longer shifts. He’s now had experimental bone graft surgery and is ready to try shifting again while in the secluded bayou.

There is a lot going on in this disturbed leopard lair – 15+ hours worth – and Savage Nature jumps with a lot of action scenes. After getting over my initial disappointment that narrator Karen White doesn’t choose to give the written Cajun accent a nod (which made the French words sound out of place), I settled in with her pretty southern accent for those living in the bayou and enjoyed each unique voice given to this large cast. Most important to me is the fact that White has the feel of the story down. The characters’ attitudes and their wide range of emotions are portrayed perfectly, making this audiobook a pleasure to listen to.

Note to production, please lose the music at the beginning and end. It’s so distracting!

ETA from comments .... I was very impressed with narration of the sex scenes. I generally fast forward through those scenes in a Feehan book but felt obligated to listen with this one because it was for review.... And I was comfortable with them, the tone and feelings were expressed tastefully and were easy to listen to despite still being over the top.

I enjoyed this book very much when I read it myself. One of Feehan's best in the series, meaning not too much repetitiveness.

Saria Boudreaux has grown up, alone for the most part, in the swamps of southern Louisiana. Something in the tangled growth and wild, untamed land settles her mind and soul as nothing else can. During her childhood, her five much older brothers were often absent for long periods, and her father, in his later years, was a bitter, cantankerous alcoholic who largely ignored the unruly Saria.

Drake Donovan comes to investigate some secretive and disturbing allegations about a series of unexplained deaths occurring in the remote swampland of southern Louisiana. He hires Saria as his guide based on her reputation as one who knows the local terrain, waterways, and clans who inhabit the vast area.

Drake arrives and is astonished when his leopard immediately recognizes Saria as his true mate. As he learns more about his young guide, he quickly comes to the realization that this job is going to be much more difficult than he had anticipated. He also must tread carefully as he courts the headstrong, free-spirited young woman, pledges to keep her safe from a serial killer, and vigorously defends her honor as her leopard slowly awakens within her.

A fully stand-alone entry within the Leopard People series, this book takes the reader deep into the Louisianan Bayou where one can practically smell the aroma of the wetlands, with its abundance of flora stingily clinging to the limited soil resources in the boggy swamp. There is a heavy, oppressiveness that runs through much of the book that perfectly conveys the rich gothic elements that are woven throughout. Much of the action takes place during rainstorms and with the characters slogging through a hostile, yet beautiful marsh. I loved the robust, flowing descriptions of the dark, remote, mysterious terrain that is so incredibly believable and well-depicted – obviously researched in scintillating detail. I loved that Saria is a strong, capable, fiercely independent woman who is also quick-witted and opinionated. This book hooked me early and thrilled me with its fresh prose and reclusive inhabitants. Ms. Feehan shows us all, yet again, her inspired artistry of storytelling.

I'm surprised that I totally loved this book. I gave 2 stars to books 1, 2, and 3, and skipped 4 because the story line didn't appeal. So I approached this with trepidation. Christine Feehan sucked me right in. Generally, regardless of whether I end up liking the story, I enjoy her writing. The writing here seemed more down to earth and not quite as florid as the Carpathian stories (most of which I love, BTW) nor did it seem as wordy and mystical as the Drake series.

For the first time in this series, the shifter world was explained well enough and clearly enough I could understand it easily. The plot was interesting and made sense. There were several good red herrings for the bad guy. I loved the heroine, Saria. She was well developed with an interesting backstory that clearly led to her being the spunky heroine that she was. She was smart and independent and brave without being in any way foolish. I loved the way that she was so loyal to Drake once she committed to him. I hate wishy washy heroines. Drake was well done, very alpha, very determined to figure out what was going on and totally in love with Saria. This wasn't one of those books where the hero and heroine spend so much time working on their relationship that the suspense part of the plot is ignored however. Their relationship developed on the run as it were but fluidly it didn't seem forced at all.

There was sex in the book but it didn't seem to be as much as in the Carpathian books. There was a lot going on and plenty of story to tell. I enjoyed seeing the many different shifters in the book and look forward to stories about Saria's brothers and some of Drake's men.

Only one small thing that I would have had different

I am big fan of Christine Feehan for years. She introduced me to paranormal romance and I never expected to like them so much. Of course, I love all her books, so I have higher standards when it comes to her. Some may hate her putting too much detail in everything, and a lot has accused her of repeating things over & over, she's still my "go to" author in the romance department. She never does anything half -halfheartedly. If she will tell a story about a marine biologist, she will bring us to the depths of the ocean and introduce us to the marine life forms. This time, she brought us to the bayou. I have never been to one, but I felt familiar already. I love how she describes even the smallest detail. Of course her hero will always be an alpha male. Her heroine may or may not be physically strong but always smart and has a mind of her own.

In Savage Nature, we finally served Drake's story. I was wondering what kind of a woman is his mate, and Saria is amazing. She is smart, independent and loyal. She never felt sorry for herself instead she make the most of whatever life has given her. Drake, being an alpha male that he is, still smart enough to appreciate Saria's expertise in the bayou. I like the new setting, the new characters, the family history of Joshua. The story took on a new spin, giving readers a fresh new perspective. It is full of action and suspense. It was well-written and every character was well introduced. Christine Feehan's novels maybe "formulaic" at times but I love them still and this is one of my favorites.

Reread of Savage Nature (Leopard#5) complete!
Wow! Been reading about Drake since the start of the series, and he always got a dreamy sigh from me. But how he is written in his story blows me away! There's a Shakespeare quote, Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them. And through all the books and especially by the end of Savage Nature, I think he experienced all three! Through it all he stays true to his code of honor, even when threats to those he loves and protects push it to it's limits.
.
So glad he has Saria Boudreaux for his mate. Someone to share his life with love, strength and intelligence. A true partnership. She is a strong heroine, growing up with 5 brothers and a dysfunctional lair she learned early to fend for herself and trust in her Leopard instincts. All of which helps her grow into the role as his mate and co-leader. Her strength of observation and perception are brought into play when solving the dangers facing her lair, humans, and those she loves.
.
And we see each of them and thier relationship develop during an amazing who dunnit! A murder mystery that has you thinking you know who the guilty one is...then new information blows it away a few times until to a crescendo ending! By the last page you're hoping the rest of Drake's men, the Boudreaux Brothers, and the rest of the mateless men and women of the dysfunctional bayou lair speak up to Christine and get their happily ever after, someday.

I really liked Jake's book, book #2.

This book bored me. So far some people turned up dead, she thinks possibly her brothers did it because they don't know that she knows, but she knows they can turn into a leopard. She never has.

Some guy hires her to be his guide but some locals and her neighbors don't like it and try to scare him. She doesn't know they dont' want a strange leopard around her when she's likely to have her heat soon.

I feel no chemistry between her and him. I put the book down and didn't pick it back up.

I really enjoyed this book. Drake Donovan is someone who's been in most of the books in this series and his leg is finally fixed and he can shift again. I liked Saria a lot. She was very strong (best swamp guide, stands up for herself) while also being emotionally vulnerable. I loved how honest and up front with her feelings she was. The Louisiana lair was interesting and it was nice to see Joshua also pulled in.

I originally hadn’t planned to do a review for this book, but Saria made me. Savage Nature is book 5 in Christine Feehan’s Leopard People series. There’s an element of suspense in each book, but the stories are really about the shifters, their lairs and finding their mates. The mates “know” each other once they come in contact, and the world is set up so that the leopards recognize their mates from past lives. The female shifter can either accept or reject any leopard and of course will always end up accepting the mate she’s supposed to be with.

Drake Donovan, our hero, is your typical alpha. Not that I ever get tired of reading about strong alpha heroes – he’s a leader, and while on a mission to find a killer he stumbles upon an unknown lair made up of multiple families of shifters, one that includes Saria. He knows instantly she’s the one for him and sets out to prove it to her.

Saria is the reason this book gets 4 stars. I found her to be a very refreshing character to read about. She’s lived her whole life in the swamps of Louisiana, taking care of her home and family business as a young girl, since no one else was around to do it for her. She has 5 older brothers who were never around much when she was growing up and didn't give her the attention she desperately needed and craved. She raised herself and became a strong and very independent woman. Saria really was a joy to read. She was straight forward, honest, said exactly what she thought and was feeling and always made the right decision (no matter how tough) for whatever circumstance she found herself in.

The one downside to this book and series in general, with one book out per year, I had a hard time remembering past characters and their stories. Bad memory? Probably. But the books can certainly be read as stand-alones and by moving the past storyline from the rain forests into the swamps and introducing new families and characters, there is major potential for future books. There are a couple leopards in Savage Nature that I can’t wait to read more about. Why is it that the side characters, more times than not, end up being more intriguing than the main characters?

Regardless – read this book for Saria. She’s a great heroine, and someone you’ll quickly find yourself cheering for.

Another great Leopard series book from Feehan! This is the fifth in the series and can easily be read as a stand alone. Feehan's characters come alive for the reader and I could almost feel the humidity of the swamp while reading. I couldn't put it down and read it in an afternoon.

Saria, photographer and swamp guide, has the Louisiana swamp in her blood. Her five brothers are shape shifting leopards; she'd caught them shifting in the middle of the night in the swamp when she was 10. She is 16 years younger than her oldest brother and 10 years younger than her youngest brother. Her mother died shortly after she was born and her father mostly withdrew from the world drank himself to death while she was still a youth. So she basically raised herself while her brothers were off in the military and her father sat alone in his misery. But she loved her childhood in the swamps. Later, when given a camera by a teacher as a bribe to keep coming to school, she fell in love with photography. She grew into a strong, self-sufficient, self confident young woman. She is just sad that she isn't a leopard as well so she would have something in common with her brothers.

People are being killed in the swamp and Saria is very afraid it is one of her brothers. She's threatened when she tries to get help. One night after enlisting the help of the local priest, she is attacked by a shapeshifting leopard on her way home. She feels something come alive inside her and come to her aid but later dismisses it. Could one of her own brothers attack her?

Drake is a leopard shifter who leads teams of shifting leopards who go on assignments to rescue, right wrongs, take care of rogue shifters, etc. He's come at the request of a partner who received a letter detailing the killings. The minute he steps off the dock, he smells her and his cat goes wild. When he meets his guide, Saria, he is hard pressed to keep his cat in check. His cat knows they've met their mate.

Drake quickly figures out Saria is the one who sent the letter. He is shocked at what he finds in the swamp and finds himself in a confrontation and Saria in serious danger.

There are several subplots going on in the story and even though I figured it out in advance, it has a nice twist. Paranormal romance and shifter fans will love this book.

Warning Spoiler Alert!!!
This has an HEA ending.

Como una fanática de los escenarios que se ubican en pantanos, este libro me encantó. Con pantanos no puedo ser parcial.
description

May 2015 - 5 Stars

I loved this just as much the second time around and would still give it 6 stars if I could! Still love Saria & Drake and because re-reading the series back-to-back have no problems remembering characters :)

September 2013 - Rated 5 Stars

I need an extra star - has anyone got one? :)

This book definately deserved 6 stars. The Leopard People have been my least favourite Feehan series but this book is definately the best of them all so far.

I loved both the H & h and totally believed in their characters and romance. I also enjoyed catching up with some of other characters but did sometimes have to scratch my head to try and remember some others but with a few prompts from Ms Feehan it all came back to me :) I did guess who the baddie was fairly early on so it wasn't a surprise when revealed. This usually aggravates me as I like to be kept guessing but even that didn't detract from the fact that I think this is a great book.

It does get a bit frustrating that we have to wait so long for the next book in the series but understand that Ms Feehan needs the extra time in order to publish good and extremely well written stories instead of churning out loads of mediocre books.

Drake Donovan is a surprising Alpha male, one who wants a female as strong as he to stand by his side, not a submissive doormat. Saria Boudreaux is a woman who is innately strong and oblivious to the fact. She feared that Drake would be done with her once she no longer needs him. Boy, did she learn.

The mystery in this book is complex, and would have been a satisfying story without the romance. The romance is also complex, and would have been a satisfying story without the mystery. Lucky readers, we get both.

I had thought I knew who the villain was, but I was totally wrong. Feehan's skills had me guessing wrong, and I believe she planned it that way. The other characters in the story hold out possibilities for inclusion in future work in this series, and that excites me.

4.5 out of five, and downgraded just a bit because the thriller aspects seemed a bit too overdone to me. The climactic scene seemed just a bit contrived, and I didn't like the final scene. I don't like a book that ends, literally:

"I love you."..."I love you too." Come on, Christine, we know you can do better than that.

Still, I'll be reading this one again and again.

So far, my favourite book in the Leopard series.

Saria is a leopard unaware of her heritage. She knows that something is wrong in the bayou, afraid of everyone she asks for help Jake (the hero of Burning Wild). Jake sends Drake. Saria is immediately attracted to him, but incredibly confused by everything that is happening to her. The fact that there’s a serial killer after her doesn’t help.

The moment Drake sees Saria he is aware that she is his mate – a mate he’s been waiting for a long time. He’s here to find the killer and he needs Saria’s help.

Drake is a great guy, and unlike some of the heroes from the previous books, he doesn’t try to protect Saria by suffocating her. He acknowledges the fact that she is capable of protecting herself, and that she is better at navigating the swamp (no alpha male conviction that he knows better).

I also like Saria’s family, especially Remy (I hope he gets a book).

One weird part was when Saria first shifted – really, really weird.

Rating:

4.5 stars

As usual, Christine Feehan draws me into her world from the first chapter. Her ability to create and describe a place you may have never vistied or seen is amazing. You feel as if you are actually part of the environment. The world of shape shifter she has created is so realistic and believable it is almost hard to imagine that it is fiction.

Her characters are always fantastic but I really liked Saria, the heroine, in this story. She is tough, confident, honorable and yet vulnerable. The hero is a strong leader attuned to the subtlities of the world around him.

I love the leopard series and the team of characters that Christine has created. I find myself wanting to know each team member's personal story, wanting to understand each team member's history and hoping that I will get the opportunity to read each of their love stories. Again, this is why Christine Feehan is my favorite author. Every book she writes hits it out of the park and sucks you in until you are begging for more.

I loved the first two books in the series, was kinda meh on book 3 and 4, but this one was back to being great. Our heroine, Saria Boudreaux is smart, loyal and independent without being stupid about it. And our hero, Drake Donovan is a seriously alpha cat who comes to town to investigate strange happenings in the swamps of Louisiana. The attraction is instant though it takes a while for Saria to surrender.

Saria is a shifter too but she doesn't realize it until Drake sends her cat into a tizzy. It's fun watching Saria succumb to her cat instincts while falling in love with Drake.

I liked the mystery and the many red herrings were rather distracting. Though I must say the minute the culprit was introduced, I knew it was them causing all the problems in the bayou. There was no hiding that truth.
