The second installement was better mainly because there's more stuff going on between the two timelines. It was shorter but more anticipating. A particulier scene in the book really grossed me out and I can't wait for the final reveal.
Even at 20 years old, Mr Stine's still able to scare me.

A nice follow up and it doesn't succumb to the sequel curse. The plot moves along really well and the pacing is great.

This trilogy had a strong start, but this one definitely suffered from "middle book syndrome".

Rereading this trilogy for nostalgia purposes to see if it holds up. So frankly, I didn't really remember this book much at all and I understand why. As a kid, this exposition bored me to death and I just wanted to get back into the action. I get why this book was shy of 100 pages and I'm thankful for that because the spoookyyy parts were getting really repetitive, but it had it's purpose. This is always the part of a story I like, when we get more details into what is going on and more clues as to the hows and whys. I entirely forgot the past corresponding story with Deborah and that is really what gives a lot more to the present story. I also forgot about April suspecting Pam for always being there for when crazy shit goes down...which I do not even blame her, Pam is being extra sus.

I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would. I was thoroughly entertained the entire time...but moreso by how April is clearly going through intense trauma while everyone around her is like "Wow! Cool! You're so famous now!!!" Clearly no one is bothered by this. April ended up running two cities away and randomly meeting with her teammate, Kristen, who they both fought that monster on the island together, and no one was concerned? Kristen called their missing teammate's mother...and she was clearly unconcerned that she was told her son was still "on the island" while the rest of the participants were home and on TV and interviews and the TODAY SHOW?!? Like yo, I was just so entertained by how every single adult was unbothered by all this. I LOVED IT. XD

I know, I know, this is a book meant for younger children but I give kids way more credit than this to realize that how everyone brushed all this off was rather lazy and unbelievable. It felt more than anything like they were shoving the fact that 'IT'S NOT OVER' in your face...when it obviously wasn't over. The exposition could have been done way better than this and frankly we didn't even need anyone going back home. Why? The 'famous' aspect was poorly done anyway...so it felt so pointless. The games could have been longer, and if they needed Pam there, they could have brought her easily. But this isn't even my biggest gripe.

No my biggest gripe is...who is that guy on the cover of this book?!?! Like there was no prominent male characters outside of the ones on the island?!? So WHO IS THIS MAN?!?! He is literally just a random dude. No one even ate pizza!!! This cover does not correlate with the story at ALL except for the ghost woman but she was BLUE not red?!?! -_-

Sorry y'all I'm having a lot of fun.

This one was better than the first one. The first one was really boring compared to this. Although the spooky parts were too repetitive, I was interested enough to see what happens after the first half.
