It's science with the squishy bits left in! What disease makes your eyes bleed? Why can't astronauts eat beans before a space flight? Which part of your brain makes you throw up? Get the awful answers in "Disgusting Digestion".
Nick Arnold is the author of the award winning series, Horrible Science and Wild Lives. Arnold's first published works appeared as a result of a project he was working on at the University of North London, when he was trying to teach young children. A positive review was written about him, and he started to write the "Horrible Science" books. His books are illustrated by Tony De Saulles.
Food turns into vomit inside our stomachs, but it goes down and only occasionally climbs back up in case you eat kotlet and mirza ghasemi. - Scientific facts everyone needs to know
Molt divertit! M'ha donat alguna idea per fer en classe. Pot ser algunes de les bromes s'han quedat antigues i no sé si l'alumnat el seguirà amb l'entusiasme que l'he seguit jo. Buscaré més llibres de la col•lecció.
I use to love watching the “Horrible Histories” when I was younger but had never heard of “Horrible Science.” I’m glad I have now as this one was so funny and insightful. I know the children in my class would be in stitches over must pages and yet still be learning. These books will be in my classroom for sure.
An easy way to learn about digestion! Arnold educated the reader about the way our body digests foods and explains what foods may be damaging our gut, this book gives children the knowledge of how to look after their digestive system as well as giving them a wonderful range of vocabulary and facts. I was shocked at some of the information in this book and interested about how our digestive system works, so children too, would be gripped on every page! This book would work well along side science lessons in school in topic to our digestive system of our body, children can educate themselves in such a fun way. Not only children for that matter, this book isn’t at all ‘dumbed down’, Arnold keeps all of the exceptional vocabulary and facts that an adult would enjoy reading. Reviewing this, I would say this book is aimed at the ages of 7+. I was ‘eewing’ and ‘wowing’ on every page, such an interesting and mind opening book. I would highly recommend this to children and teachers.
As I wrote in my review of Deadly Diseases, these books are simply amazing. Very funny while also very very educational. The artwork is amazing and should be greatly appreciated. I love these books from the bottom of my heart ♡☆
I remember reading this in elementary and I enjoyed it. I read it again and still enjoyable. The book is comical so it's not a boring read even if it's about science. This was one of the first books I've actually finished instead of school textbooks and I learned a lot more from it.
A throwback read thanks to a Xmas gift from my partner - growing up as a child I loved all the Horrible Science/History/Geography books & I can remember chilling in the bookshop trying to decide which one to read.
A book about digestion process and its associated diseases for children. Loved this one, I found it very easy to understand and funny, full with illustrations and humor
This book takes you on a no-holds barred tour of the digestion process. Before journey's end, kids will have explored everything from salivary glands to bladders to stomach ulcers.
For a guy who is currently as of writing (16th September 2020) is currently dealing with a issue! It is helpful to know more about the digestive system and how each part works step by step, and the name for everything! This way i can feel like I understand more about my stomach when it causes me pain or cramps i can make a close to educated guess to what it's doing to cause that and how maybe to avoid it. Also i can sounds smart when i talk to the doctor about my issue and understand more of what he is telling and explaining to me, now obviously i would probably get a better understanding from an adult "student" book on the subject, but i bet it's not short and to the point like these books are! All i wanted to know was the basics, so i could understand how everything worked, not how to recreate a stomach if i wanted to build my own Frankenstein, which is a possibility if i keep reading more of these horrible science books, on the body! Soon i will be creating my own life, and then you will all be in trouble.

Example of text: From 'Enormous appetites'
'The amount you eat depends on how big your stomach is. After all, you've got to put all that food somewhere. This is also controlled by a pea-sized lump on the underside of the brain called the hypothalamus (hi-po-thala-mus). This signals to your brain when it's time to eat and when to stop. If you don't want to stop, then chances are that you're eating something you really enjoy. And if you don't want to start eating, then you're probably sitting in front of your school dinner.......'
Interspersed with fantastic fact files, quirky quizzes, teacher tests and 'Answers' (upside down!). Black and white illustrations/cartoons throughout, and littered with 'Bet you never knew' fact-boxes & 'Horrible Health Warnings'.
It's a good book i admit. It gives you all the facts that you couldn't care less about in school but because it is explained how it is in the book with pictures and a few jokes here and there it makes it more interesting to read.

Another one is the series! This one managed to get me hooked inside and got me finishing it just in about one week! Every one of these books spill out facts for me to store them into my brain.I am earning a lot of knowledge from these series,I should probably start reading the other series like Horrible Histories, Horrible Geography.
