1st book of 2025 🙌 and it’ll probably be the shortest too. This was only a few chapters and easily read within a blink of an eye (not quite, but you get my drift) but it was nice getting that small piece of closure one year after the event which turned the world upside down.
This also needs to be read in order for it all to make sense, and you only get this epilogue if you sign up to this authors newsletter it’s not available anywhere else.
This was the 1st series where I discovered this new to me author, and it won’t be the last because I’m already reading another series of hers similar to this.
This little novella was necessary. Deeply, beautifully necessary.
After all the cold, the loss, the grief, and the brutality of the series, this feels like warmth returning to frozen bones. This story deserved an extended ending, and the author give it to us.
Here, the characters finally get what they truly earned.
The wounds don’t vanish, but they soften. And for the first time in a long while, life doesn’t feel like constant resistance, it feels like living.
This novella doesn’t add drama. It addspeace. It doesn’t raise the stakes. It lowers the shoulders.
After so much snow, this was a hearth fire.
It warmed my heart. It allowed me to say goodbye properly. And it reminded me that survival stories are not only about endurance, they’re about what comes after, when people finally get to breathe.
Just a simple, heartfelt thank you to the author for giving us this sweet, gentle closure. This story needed it. And so did I.
Sometimes, a soft ending is the bravest one of all.
This book series started off with difficult triggering scenarios and high anxiety. It evolved into a more enjoyable plot with strong willed characters which created an addiction to burn through all 8 books. Absolutely loved the ending and learned some fun survival tips along the way.
Way, WAY too short, but I suppose that's to be expected for a final epilogue. It's also because I'm not ready to say goodbye. *sigh* But I must. This thing had EXACTLY what I was hoping for in an epilogue, and as much as I complained about predictability throughout this entire series, this epilogue fulfilled the one prediction I was A-okay with coming true. I was hoping to see the events in this epilogue in the actual series, but I can forgive it for being here instead of there. As long as it's SOMEWHERE, after all.
This final chapter takes place a year after the initial EMP blast and brings us back to our main Fall Creek residents and how they are now coping (and even thriving) after their hard-fought battles for their town. There is no sadness here. There are no hardships. This is really and truly an official close-out to this entire series, and it's a happy one for EVERYONE. I for one am GLAD for this. Feels far more complete. After so very long of reading about the pains and heartbreaks in this series, this was a well-needed relief, and it was absolutely perfect.
Freebie from the author (thank you Kyla Stone). I think I was supposed to read this after reading the first seven books in this series instead of just the first one (oops). This book tells how Hannah and Liam end up, so it was good to know. Now I just need to go back and read books 2 through 7 :) I have to admit, I was not happy with how book 1 ended (or didn't end) so I have put off reading the next in the series. I'll get around to it...just hate how manipulating it is when you HAVE to read the next in the series.
It's been a year already since the EMP attack already?!
While this was extremely short—23 pages—it gives us a glimpse of probably the main question after finishing the series. People are still trying to figure out ways to keep on living as normal as they can under the circumstances but I’m pretty sure the small-town of Fall Creek while survive this new winter.
I’m happy for Quinn and almost shed a tear for Hannah and Liam.
The ending to Hannah and Liam’s story with a brief town update one year after the collapse. Super short. Might as well read it if you’ve read the series.
This whole series was SO good! I couldn't wait to get to the next book. The story of survival under such conditions, it was tragic and uplifting all at the same time. I read that book .05, Chaos Rising, was not necessary to read but I totally disagree. I went back and read it after book #1 and I had a better understanding of Liam and why he is who he is. It's short, but ads a lot of information.
Can’t believe it took them so long to get married! I’m so happy Oliver made it town so he could be at the wedding and I love that Quinn went wedding dress shopping in secret! The fact that Liam stopped using the cane for the wedding shows his determination and of course you couldn’t have Liam and Hannah without Ghost as his best man!!

Free youtube audiobook epilogue. While short, this provided a feelgood ending a year after the mainstory. I liked that, despite centering around a wedding, it wasn't full of 'wedding jitters or prep', and focused on what key characters had gotten up to the last year. And how they'd grown or changed. Nice end to the series.
This one was much shorter than the other books, but gives us just a peek into Fall Creek a year after the initial series takes place. A little romance? A little celebration? Maybe a little healing, fun, and joy? Yes please! These characters have sure as heck earned it.
Just what this series needed: an epilogue. These final chapters were so sweet, no more fighting and anxiety. Just a beautiful close to a wonderful group a humans.
