I have to admit to start with I found The Introvert slightly slow and didn’t really know if it would be for me. The further into it I got though the more interested I was and by the end I loved it.

The Introvert himself, we never actually find out his name, I found quite odd. He lives in an apartment with his cocker spaniel mix, Molly, and works as a vacuum salesman. He pretty much keeps himself to himself and doesn’t really like to talk a lot. To be honest you can understand why I wasn’t really

This is one of those books that you can both love and hate it at the same time. Ok, maybe hate is a strong word. More like a "what am I reading". This is a train wreck but it is so good that I can't stop reading. This book is told from the first person. I am mixed on first person books. Some I have read are good and others were not so good. This book is in the good category.

The main character is so socially awkward that again this was a situation where it was both painful and funny to watch how

    The Genre Minx Book Reviews
    True rating 3.5 stars

This is my first time reviewing black humor which is a genre of comedy that usually touches on themes that are taboo or usually considered too serious to touch on. It is usually sardonically humorous involving morbid or grotesque situations that deal with suffering, anxiety or even death. This book is a perfect fit within that genre.

The story is told from the view point of the main character. The first thing that struck me is that I read the entire story and not once was the

Black humor is a genre which I started loving after reading the book Susanna's Seven Husbands. But after that, I have never actually picked any book of this genre. So when the author provided me an advance copy of this book to read and review then I can’t resist my joy. Big thanks to the author for giving me chance to read this book.

    Plot summary:

The Introvert is the Vacuum Salesman, whose life revolves around work, completing the target, getting his dog Molly for a walk. He seldom talks to anyon

I thought this book was an interesting read. It was told from the first person perspective and you never even find out the name of the person telling the story. You get to really feel what he thinks and the thought process that is inside of his head. You can tell that there is obviously something not quite right about him with the fact that he sees people as open and red when he i

I never met the this author, but heard about his book just prior to its recent release from my yahoo e-mail group I belong to with other Black Opal Book published authors. I purchased the paperback version from Amazon. The book cover, the title, and the genre drew me in. I was only drawn by the genre because I'd never read black humor and wondered how anything with violence could be funny, but then I remembered the old Roadrunner cartoons I watched growing up. That poor Roadrunner fell off cliff ...more

My thanks to the author and to Black Opal Books for an ARC of this novella.

Well OMFG! What a fantastically weird, twisted and absolutely quirky novella The Introvert was! So much so, I am not even sure where in the world to begin! The cover is simple, yet eye-catching and pretty much gives you a feel of the wickedly wonderful writing you will stumble across as you delve into the world of The Introvert!

In The Introvert Michael Paul Michaud gives a wonderful account of the life of a unique young man. Darkly humorous throughout it will have you questioning what makes you laugh and why. It is also at times sad and always thought provoking.

The narrator/protagonist appears (to me, admittedly not an expert on the subject) at times to be on the autism spectrum. The idea of him as simply an introvert is undermined by his inability to understand other people's emotions and basis for their responses or

As an introvert who’d most of the time rather be at home alone with my dogs than out anywhere in public, this book immediately grabbed my attention. Then, when I opened it and saw that it was dedicated to “weirdos”, I knew I had no choice but to read it. It was like it was written expressly for me.

The titular introvert reminds me very much of Dexter. He’s not only an introvert, but also a psychopath who lacks empathy for his fellow humans. That’s not to say he’s a raging madman, because he’s not

I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review, and I was surprised by how much I liked it!

First of all, I fell completely in love with the main character. He is the most awkward, adorable, shy person ever. Michaud has written the book in a way that let's us understand exactly the way the MC thinks, which is amazing:

“The dog was skinny and had a dull coat and I thought maybe it was even mangy, but then I felt bad for thinking that and it made me want to apologize to the dog but

"The Introvert" by Michael Paul Michaud......Oh how I loved this! I read it in just one sitting, there was just no way I was putting this down! I am growing to like this type of genre - black humour - more and more and found this quirky book just brilliant. It was so easy to read and follow and you find yourself engaging with the story and the main character immediately. You never find out his name which adds to the intrigue, he's such an adorable anti-social, anti-hero even when he's having his ...more

This is a quirky and quick read about a young mans quest to get through his life without causing too many dramas that upset him. Similar in vein to "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time" where the protagonist is slightly dysfunctional and whose behaviour can be triggered by certain actions by others, leading to unexpected, possibly life changing events.

I would recommend it to people who like a bit of black humour, quirky characters and a plot where you are not really sure where you

I absolutely loved this book and couldn't put it down until I finished reading it cover to cover.

How can one be empathetic to the introvert? As the story progressed I became attached to him. I wanted to cheer him on but had to stop and remind myself that not all of his actions were acceptable. It was an extremely thought provoking read and as an introvert I could relate to his introversion characteristics.

    I highly recommend this book!
