Good vegan smoothie recipes. Expensive, but healthy, and I've lost 7 pounds by replacing one or two meals a day with these smoothies over the last couple of weeks. Loses a star for shoddy editing - some recipes show ingredients without amounts, at least one repeats some ingredients, the ingredient index is incomplete, etc.. If any genre needs precise editing, it's a cookbook. Despite those errors, it's a good book, and I'm sure that once I really get into the swing of things, I can adjust the unclear recipes on my own. Shouldn't have to, though. Get this from the library until corrections are made in an updated edition.

This book is not great. Maybe it works better in conjunction with the Zero Belly Diet, I don't know. The book is only 222 pages, but a lot of the information is redundant or nothing new. He also spends a lot of time talking about how much weight we are going to lose on the Smoothie Cleanse and how great we are going to feel, but only spends about a page outlining what the cleanse consists of. I would have preferred less BS and more of an actual plan. (if you just want to know the plan, it's basically: drink two dairy free meal replacement smoothies a day, have two snacks, and a balanced dinner) There are lots of smoothie recipes, so that's nice. I might try the plan and I will update with my review if it works.

A good source for simple smoothie drinks using fresh ingredients. I don't know how effective smoothie diet is, but I was only seeking out the drinks as a meal substitute. What I want to know is why protein powder has to be sold in such large cannisters and at such a high price.

On the one hand, I've seen better "research" from 5th graders. On the other hand, the recipes have simple ingredients and cover a wide variety of taste-preferences. However, there wasn't so much as a reference page to indicate where his alleged research came from. [He repeatedly states "Research says...," yet leaves the specifics of what research he's talking about completely ambiguous to the reader. I expect when someone says "research," they leave me enough information (bibliography!) that I can read it for myself. I'm sure this is a non-issue for most readers, but I have higher standards for any book that throws around the word "research." Thus it's upsetting when an author can't support these "research" finding with the actual research they used to make their statements.]
This book would have been a 4* book if it was presented as a smoothie-recipe-only book. Instead, it makes claims and leaves the reader wondering where he got his "research" information from. 2.6*

The first half of this book deals with WHY people dieting should replace 2 meals a day with non-dairy smoothies/shakes. The recipes that are included are there for variety. Some are savory and some are fruit sweetened.

I have been making or buying smoothies for awhile, so I mainly read this book to get some ideas for adding different ingredients and nutritional ideas. Also, I find that one smoothie a day fits my needs (rather than two). I usually have it as a late breakfast and then eat a balanced dinner later in the day. I don't want to lose more than 5 pounds per month since I am trying to lose the pandemic 15-20 pounds. So far, I've lost 13 pounds since early June.

Someone new to this dietary concept might be daunted by the material in the first third of the book. I suggest flipping through the pages and looking at the recipes to see if they would fit into your lifestyle prior to reading the reasoning behind this approach.

This is my kind of diet! Since I love smoothies anyhow, these recipes top it off with so many different variations, and they are so easy to prepare. So many great ideas and I love that you can eat a dinner instead of smoothie if you choose. This is a program that a person can stay on forever. I love it!

Excellent book!

The most concise and easy to understand explanations! Awesome smoothly recipes that I will enjoy all year long along with basic instructions on how to remake your diet for better health.

Had a G. I. Bypass in 2003 and have gradually regained "some" weight back.
Formed food allergies which had me making some "stupid" choices.
Great recipes are provided for the reader.
Will keep you up to date on my progress to the return of my healthy weight!

Easy to comprehend complex concepts

A lot of blah, blah, blah testimonials - but easy to just skip to next section. Recipes are very helpful launching pads to adapt to personal needs.

excellent road map on how to get rid of unhealthy diet habits. Organized and to the point tips and eating schedule which by following consistently, gives great results.

Unlike most smoothie book introductions, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. It had the normal deluge of information, but it was organized well and broken up with wacky facts like weird things that kill your healthy gut bugs. Probably my most favorite thing about this book is all the beans. Yes, beans in smoothies. Something I'm excited about, but something I always mess up (probably because I love beans and use too much).

I did not get this book for the flat belly aspect so I cannot comment on how the diet works or whether it is successful. I got it to try new smoothie recipes - I like variety. This book has smoothies for fruits, veggies, nuts, chocolate, etc. You have endless possibilities with the recipes in this book.

Love this!

There are so many recipes in this book to choose from and experiment with it has made it fun to make smoothies. My husband and I are both enjoying this very much.
We're on our first week but I can see this lasting.

I liked it. Informative and many great recipes. This book had me looking for protein mixes (vegan) and I found the Vega All-In-One that is one of the protein mixes this book recommends. Love it. So much easier to take to work. I whip up the fresh ingredient smoothies when I am at home.

Easy to do

Very easy to do and fit into busy lives. Love it. Would highly recommend this book for anyone trying to lose weight.

Nice recipes - a bit redundant after a bit, but once you find the ingredients you like you have a nice plan to move forward with.

Lots of varjety

This is a great idea, easy recipes, and very simple to understand advice . Be aware that you will need a high quality vegan or plant based protein for daily and continued use.
