Leehampton #2

Rasanya Mau Mati Aja (I Think I'll Just Curl Up And Die) - Fab 5 Book 1

Rate this book
Well, what could be worse than having a pregnant mother (and by Melvyn) like Laura? And they're not even married! Perhaps having a wannabe chef as a father and a mini-skirt clad mother who writes about you in the local paper, like Chelsea? What about Jemma's parents, who tell her she's too young to have a boyfriend - in front of her boyfriend? Or Sumitha's, who tell her boyfriend how suitable he is? And then there's Jon's mother, who seems to be getting on just a bit too well with a fellow interior design student

Adoro livros infantis.

It's not even about the book at this point, but the amount of nostalgia and all the re-reads throughout my pre-teen and teenage years (before all went to shit).
My old battered copy is coming to Australia with me.

I like this book better than its prequel.

But still ada part yang pace nya beneran dibuat cepet bgt kayak di fast forward 10x without details dan buat mikir kayak lah kok cuman gini aja sih gitu wkwk tp after all this book is still enjoyable enough for me apalagi yang lagi kena reading slump dan lagi pengen baca yang ringan2 dan cepet kelar

This book was hard for me to follow at times. There were 4 main girl characters, then 4 boy characters introduced as their love interest, and most of their parents. I would have liked a couple reference pages of family trees and connections - so that when I started a chapter and didn’t recognize the names, I would not have been making the connection of whose parents they were, in the middle of the chapter. Besides there being 16 characters to keep tract of, the book didn’t really flow, and it’s a British book so there were slang terms that I didn’t understand. Not until afterwards did I notice that they were translated in the back, but there was no reference to that while reading. If you want to read this book I would recommend doing it in one sitting.
I liked the storyline. I loved how the author wrote what each of the characters were thinking, when you were viewing the story from their perspective. Getting the parents point of view while they argued with their teenager makes this book interesting for everyone.

I haven't read the rest of this series, and this isn't the first book, but it's easy enough to follow. While it is juvenile and obviously aimed at a teen audience, there are things about it that are fun for everyone. Aspects of it reminded me of my own friends when I was a teenager, and it's just generally pretty entertaining. I don't know that it's a huge standout among every other book about teenage girls, but it's worthwhile.

"I think I'll just curl up and die!" is one of the most common thing a teenage would say when they're facing a great problem. This book contains common teenage problem including 'How to deal with either a playboy or a pervert boy who only see you for your boobs'. I even laughed pretty hard at some part! Fab Five never failed to entertain me with their crazy teenage life and their panic-manic parents.

Typical teenagers,, naive girls,, ordinary people.. Not my type..
alhamdulillah,, as a Muslim society,, we do not face such problems in our life.. =]
I wasn't quite into the book,, but I just wanted to finish the last bit of it =P
I think this book is more for Western teenagers,, who face such problems in their lives in daily basis..

I didn't really like any of the characters so I couldn't really connect with the book. I felt it switched between characters too fast which made the book confusing trying to remember whether Ginny was Chelsea's or Laura'a mum for example

Funny story: I read this book in German... so I really wasn't looking for a good plot or anything, I was just happy that I actually understood what was happening.

I really enjoyed this book, and remember it clearly, as it was comically written, but I still felt connection with the characters.

3,5 stars.

There's one scene regarding Laura that's similar to a certain scene in Belle Prater's Boy, when Gypsy got in a similar situation as Laura's.
