Margaret Edith Weis is an American fantasy and science fiction author of dozens of novels and short stories. At TSR, Inc., she teamed with Tracy Hickman to create the Dragonlance role-playing game (RPG) world. She is founding CEO and owner of Sovereign Press, Inc and Margaret Weis Productions, licensing several popular television and movie franchises to make RPG series in addition to their own.
In 1999, Pyramid magazine named Weis one of The Millennium's Most Influential Persons, saying she and Hickman are "basically responsible for the entire gaming fiction genre". In 2002, she was inducted into the Origins Hall of Fame in part for Dragonlance.

In one word: simplistic. These might have been novel stories at the time, but most of them look naive and simplistic now and I guessed the end of most stories after two paragraphs. It's a shame because the names of the writers would suggest much more greatness. On the other hand, these were selected by the godfather and godmather of TSR derivativeness, so perhaps that has something to do with it. I cannot recommend this book to fantasy readers nor to short story enthusiasts, so two stars out of five.

Okay collection of fantasy short stories. They didn't really keep my attention. I ended up reading most of it because I finished the rest of the library books and it wasn't due yet. Probably wouldn't recommend it to fantasy fans.

I never was crazy about short stories, and this one was the usual mixed bag. Can't remember much of it, and after spending years in a box, I gladly donated it to make room on the shelf.

Nice collection of short stories by some great fantasy sci fi authors. Some were great and fun and poignant, others I couldn't stand and skipped. That's what you get with short stories!!!!

I guess I don’t hate fantasy stories. Weird.

I love "Lady of the Skulls," "Sandmagic," "The Dragonbone Flute," "The Man Who Loved the Sea," "The Montavarde Camera," "The King of the Elves," and, of course, "The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas."

Honestly, read Sandmagic. That's a world that has to be expanded upon.
