I've been writing as long as I can remember and all of my stories always held a thread of romance (even when I was writing about a prince who could shoot lasers out of his eyes). I love creating unique characters, love giving them happy endings and I even love the voices in my head. There's no other job I would rather be doing. In September 2002, when I got the call that Silhouette Desire wanted to buy my first book, Desert Warrior, it was a dream come true. I hope to continue living the dream until I keel over of old age on my keyboard.
I was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. I also spent three years living and working in Japan, during which time I took the chance to travel around Asia. I’m back in New Zealand now, but I’m always plotting new trips. If you’d like to see some of my travel snapshots, have a look at the Travel Diary page (updated every month).
So far, I've worked as a lawyer, a librarian, a candy factory general hand, a bank temp and an English teacher and not necessarily in that order. Some might call that inconsistency but I call it grist for the writer's mill.
Tammy and Nate have to make a quick trip out of state and they leave their twin cubs (Julian and Roman) in Sascha and Lucas’s care. Lucas will tell them a scary fairytale.
“Really?” Julian leaned forward in excitement. “We’re not babies,” Roman added.
Cute, short and free story from the life of Alpha Lucas and his mate.
I couldn't stop laughing! Set in Tamsyn's kitchen, Lucas and Sascha have been tasked with babysitting the cubs. When they ask to be told a story, cannibal princesses are mentioned.
One of the earliest newsletter short stories from the Psy-Changeling series. This has Sascha and Lucas babysitting their friends’ twin boys and is a cute domestic interlude - the twins make regular appearances through the DarkRiver books so it was fun to go back to when they were very small.
A really short story about Lucas and Sascha interracting with Tamsyn's twins, Roman and Julian. Looking forward to when Sascha gets pregnant. Lucas will deffinitely lose his sh*t.
The Cannibal Princess is a cute little extra for fans of the Psy-Changeling series, giving an extremely quick read you can dive into after Slave to Sensation. I’m not the biggest fan of these kinds of shorts – in fact, the only case I can think of where I’ve happily devoured all the shorts is with Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series – but I was curious to see how Nalini Singh’s shorts would play out. After all, there’s so many of them, with so many people seeming to enjoy the extras, and I thought it was at least worth the try.
In truth, this is a rounded-up rating. It’s more of a one-point-five-star read, but it brought a smile to my face, so I decided to round up. As I’ve mentioned, I’m not a big lover of shorts, so my rating is mostly a reflection of that. Personally, this was cute but it didn’t really add much. I did not gain anything by reading it, and I wouldn’t have missed out on anything if I’d overlooked it.
If you’re a big fan of the series, and if you enjoy extremely quick reads that offer an insight into the lives of characters, then I’m certain you’ll have fun with this. Otherwise, do not feel as though you need to read these shorts to understand the series.
I use this to mark the stories that available for free: Cannibal Princess, The Shower, and the deleted scenes from Beat of Temptation http://nalinisingh.com/extras/psychan...
#1.5 in the Psy-Changeling paranormal romance series
This is a cute short story that happens when Lucas and Sascha are babysitting the feisty twins Roman and Julian. When they ask for a bedtime story, Sascha is stymied because she has never had a story told to her, so she doesn't know what to say. Lucas takes over and makes up a story on the spot, telling them all a bloodthirsty tale about a princess who likes to eat little boys. As Singh suggests, this is just a brief snapshot in the life of Lucas and Sascha that occurred to her while she was writing something else, but she wanted to share it.
Takes place sometime after Slave to Sensation and before Visions of Heat. Found on the Nalini Singh website.
Free short story on author’s website featuring Sascha, Lucas, and Tamsin’s adorable cubs, Julian and Roman. Timewise, this story is set after Slave to Sensation and before Visions of Heat.
