With the help of a friendly neighborhood hobgoblin, Sabrina hopes her Halloween haunted house fund-raiser will be a smash success, but when Salem upsets the temperamental spirit, all hell breaks loose.
The Spellman's have a hobgoblin living in the house. He likes to clean and do various chores but there are certain rules to follow when dealing with him. This leads to one of the two story lines in the book. Salem gets really angry with the attention the hobgoblin gets and basically ends up doing every singe thing he can to get the hobgoblin out of the house. He overlooks the old saying be careful what you wish for.
The other story line deals with Sabrina's school where all extracurricular activities have been canceled due to the lack of funds. Further, parents are tired of traditional fund-raising activities so the students will have to come up with something very special. Sabrina has the idea of a haunted house. The students get behind it but they will have to find a place for it to be, get all the materials, build all the parts and at the same time make sure they have all the proper permits.
The book is pretty decent and shows what the students can do if they all work together. Salem's battle with the hobgoblin has unexpected results but that part is also pretty interesting.
I found this one really funny and cute, with a good plot line. I liked how Sabrina worked to put on the haunted machine and the drama with Salem and the hobby.
I loved all of the Sabrina tales full of magic. Every story was a different adventure and some new and exciting challenge to overcome. These books made me want to have magical powers too but the ending results were hilarious.
these books are cute and it's fun to read the Halloween ones around Halloween! the dialogue fits the show, the characters feel spot on, magic causes zany shenanigans and Harvey's the perfect date. couldn't ask for much more.
