An infinity star book is a book that's
perfect
a book so good that there can be nothing better or bigger than it. Meaning it has
zero flaws
and just gives you everything you love and nothing to complain about except for you wanting more...despite its length being 1100+ pages...that for me is words of radiance.
Perfection
. No other book can come close to this, it's everything to me, like I would actually give my soul away to read this book again for the first time, this book is my happiness, this book is the reason for me to live. I am this book, this book is me. Okayyy moving on, this book was so fucking good, like so well written!! I loved how Brandon managed this. This is the book that put Brandon my all time favorites. I mean he just can't do anything wrong. This book was so fun to read and is the highest rated book for a reason. I mean sure it took him 3.5 years but I can't imagine how fun this book must've been for him to write because I literally had the best time reading this. No wonder it's the highest rated book on Goodreads. He put everything that I love in this book.
Writing a sequel to such a critically acclaimed book which so well loved and a 1000+ pages long is so hard but the way he managed to make it even better with an additional 100 pages lmaoo, I honestly do not know how he did it but he did it. I don't even know how he remembers all the details from the previous books to write this one but he did, it was so easy to read like honestly even if he wrote an additional 1000 pages on this book? I would read it because this one was so fast paced and so easy to read, the story arcs, the battles, the politics and the ending was so breath taking! This series is absolutely amazing and this book is the peak because AHHHH the dialogues in this one are so well written, there are scenes in this book that literally give me goosebumps. Ugh I cant even tell you about them but READ THIS!
I have been procrastinating writing this review because I honestly do not know what to say, even after a reread because this book is just so damn good that my words would not do this any justice. The way Brandon wrote this story that excelled in every way and over 1100 pages which are read so fast and swift with scenes that'll be etched to your mind forever. This book has scenes that will forever be in my head. Especially the "honor is dead but I'll see what I can do" scene that is never leaving my mind and the final battle itself was so amazing, with the concept of rhythms and
Truthless Vs Windrunner
.
“You sent him to the sky to die, assassin," Kaladin said, Stormlight puffing from his lips, "but the sky and the winds are mine. I claim them, as I now claim your life.”
Characters, believe these are the best part of the book so of course breaking them up.
KALADIN, he literally stole the show. Stole it. Ate it up and left no crumbs. His character development. His closure (kind of ) was very satisfying and his depression and PTSD and the way it was dealt with I liked that a lot. Kaladins contribution to the whole book was so unique and awesome. I literally want a 1000 pages book just on him. He is literally the best male character ever written. His honor is dead scene and the scene where he's riding the horse and the part when he laughs. AHHH MY HEART ❤️🩹 because we needed that. Everything about his arc in this was so good, the development in his character was sooo good and I loved how honorable he was, the way he went to help Adolin when not one lighteyes was willing to do that, the way he trusted Dalinar till the very end, how he did his job without any second thoughts, the realizations that he got and the scene where he said "The king was Dalinar's Tien ahh my heart broke at that.
I think one thing that hits so hard with Kaladin is that from the very first book we have been reading about him the most, we have seen how much he wants to protect the people that he loves but he ends up loosing them and survives, and he takes that survival as a curse rather than a blessing and he lives in this self guilt because he thinks that it is his responsibility that everyone lives and when they die and his internal monologue breaks me because AHHHHHH he literally tries everything and he still blames himself and I hateee that, we need a healing arc for him brandon! like we NEED that. Kaladin is the best most complex character ever written and though brandon loves to torture him he still delivers on his arc every single time.
“Two blind men waited at the end of an era, contemplating beauty.”
Shallan, such an improvement from the last book. I have to say, I found her POVs boring in the first one but this one really shaped her character out. I started liking her and enjoying her POVs. I loved her development throughout the book and the different personalities she had got a little on my nerves but I think her arc was wayy better this time around, her point of views were more easy to read and I enjoyed her goals in this. I liked how she looked up to Jasnah and shaped herself to be someone like that and since this book focused on her past we also got to know about so much of her and I think it really made me sympathize with her, yes I found her annoying at times but I cant neglect how much she suffered and like the things that she did and had to do to survive were heartbreaking and the way she masked it all under a smile was also very sad, I loved how her trauma was also depicted with shallan creating different personalities. Also I am a Shallan/Adolin shipper but that cave scene between Kaladin and Shallan was so cute, this book really had some of the best scenes for her.
“Kaladin frowned. “Wait. Are you wearing cologne? In prison?”
“Well, there was no need to be barbaric, just because I was incarcerated.”
“Storms, you’re spoiled,” Kaladin said, smiling.
“I’m refined, you insolent farmer,” Adolin said. Then he grinned. “Besides, I’ll have you know that I had to use cold water for my baths while here.”
“Poor boy.”
Adolin, easily stole the show after Kaladin. His scenes were the most action packed and the most intense. So awesome and so fun to read. His character development was also done very well. His hard work and determination really paid off. Oh my I love him so much, like god he was so fun to read. He was spoiled lol but his banter with Kaladin was so good, some of my favorite scenes were of him, his dueling scenes were so good and they made the book so much entertaining ughh I love him, the way he has these short rituals before his games and the way he communicates with horse when he's sad and the way he's so earnest and kind. I just know that he'll be one of ym favorite characters, He started to become a main character here and oh myyy god the thing that he did at the end was so satisfying like yes lets gooo!! we needed that cuz htat rat was getting on my nerves and I fully support Adolin on that.
“All stories told have been told before. We tell them to ourselves, as did all men who ever were. And all men who ever will be. The only things new are the names.”
Dalinar, the most ethical person as if yet in this book. I want to know more about his past. Well I do now that I'm reading Oathbringer but there's just so much left to uncover when it comes to him and yet we know so much of him. Was he stupid? yes. Did his morals cost him? Yes. Did I wanna slap him? Yes. But god he was still so fun to read and whenever he would do something questionable I would remind myself that no he's good, he the reason why Kaladin and bridge four and in a better place and that was the only thing that made me go through. Navani, she is such a bad ass and she has so much more to offer and she is the mian character of book 4 so I am excited to see where her Pov takes us! Jasnah, She just gave me heartaches and heartattacks but I'll see you in the next book.
“How . . .” Dalinar said. “You fell into a chasm!”
“I fell face-first, sir,” Kaladin said, “and fortunately, I’m particularly hard-headed.”
Bridge four, best found family ever, I loved it. My favorite characters from them would be The lopen, the energy that he brings and the overall vibe is sooo fun!! and the other one would be sigzil I just know too much about him cuz I read his book and I also love his knowledge, teft was also good and even rock, drehy and rlain were enjoyable and I how they had an impact on the story and on KALADIN and I loved that as well. I hated Moash tho- This is the only review where I would include him in bridge four but he is dead to me and he is never coming back here, he is a wh*re. Szeth, omg he was such a complex character. Bound to his masters atrocities and dealing with that. Loosing all hope and finding his own closure. His battle with KALADIN was really good and I'm excited to see where his story leads. Elhokar, he was so misunderstood and he was trying to be better and I would like to see where his story goes (hahahahahaahahahahahahahahaha) WIt/Hoid, How can I not write about him, he's so cute and I ship him with Jasnah so muchhh. He's a freak I just know it.
Scene's that I absolutely love:
1, Kaladin and Adolin in a duel against 4 shardbearers
2, Shallan impersonating a horneater and stealing Kaladin's boot.
3, Kaladin riding a horse
4, Kaladin laughing
5, Kaladin an Shallan in the cave
6, "And for my boon"
7, The end fight (truthless vs windrunner)
8, When Kaladin takes his oath after protecting the king
9, Adolin using cologne in prison
10, Adolin scene at the end and night blood making an appearance along with Vasher
“A woman's strength should not be in her role, whatever she chooses to be, but in the power to choose that role.”
Action sequences were detailed but still so gripping. I love how much effort he put in them because the armor that they use is a part of their magic systems and there are literally artworks in the book showcasing poses, stances and the shardblades. The scenes themselves were so breathtaking, they literally drove me to the edge because they were so well written. The climax and the resolution sometimes even ending in cliffhangers. I have to say Adolin collecting shard plates was the most amazing part because the duels that we got and we also got my favorite scene. I love how these sequences impacted the plot of the book, how some scenes unraveled one of the most crucial plot points and led to twists. Some sequences led to another reveal. So, I just love how Brandon dealt with it and was able to connect them and execute them in the perfect way and then connecting with more twists. It turned out perfectly. There were so many scenes scattered throughout the book and not one disappointed me.
“Words are where most change begins.”
The world building and magic system. It's no surprise that Brandon is the king of world building. He manages to heavily influence it on the book but simultaneously takes upon other factors affecting the book and works on it so you don't feel too overwhelmed or bored with the book. A book especially this big and when it comes to the magic system. So vast and so unique. I have to say it took me a while to get into it meaning get well taught but when I did I started enjoying it the most. It will never be boring for me because I know the way he wrote and the way he just scatters it around the book makes it not overwhelming and more enjoyable, an overall better experience for us.
Overall, the best book ever written!
“He saw it in her eyes. The anguish, the frustration. The terrible nothing that clawed inside and sought to smother her. She knew. It was there, inside. She had been broken.
Then she smiled. Oh, storms. She smiled anyway.
It was the single most beautiful thing he’d seen in his entire life."
.
“I will protect even those I hate,” Kaladin whispered through bloody lips. “So long as it is right.”
.
“Jasnah had once defined a fool as a person who ignored information because it disagreed with desired results.”
.
“Why hasn't anyone killed him yet?”
“Dumb luck,” Wit said. “In that I’m lucky you’re all so dumb.”
.
“Do not let your assumptions about a culture block your ability to perceive the individual, or you will fail.”
.
“The only time you seem honest is when you’re insulting someone!”
“The only honest things I can say to you are insults.”
.
“As I fear not a child with a weapon he cannot lift, I will never fear the mind of a man who does not think.”
.
I ain't grouchy,” Teft snapped. “I just have a low threshold for stupidity.”
.
“Power is an illusion of perception.”
.
“Expectation. That is the true soul of art. If you can give a man more than he expects, then he will laud you his entire life. If you can create an air of anticipation and feed it properly, you will succeed.”
.
“For glory lit, and life alive, for goals unreached and aims to strive. All men must try, the wind did see. It is the test, it is the dream.”
.
“Storms, woman,” Kaladin said. “I don’t know what to make of you.”
“Preferably not a corpse.”
“I’m surprised someone hasn't already done that.
.
“What you did tonight was clever,” Wit said. “You turned an attack into a promise. The wisest of men know that to render an insult powerless, you often need only to embrace it.”
.
“Humans don’t make sense.”
“If you’re only now learning that,” Kaladin said, “then you haven’t been paying attention.”
.
“What are you doing here, bridgeboy?” Adolin hissed from within his helmet.
“Playing one of the ten fools.”
Adolin grunted. “Welcome to the party. (LMAOO)
.
“I trust you. It’s a very strange sensation.”
“Yeah, well, I’ll try to hold myself back from going skipping across the plateau in joy.”
Adolin grinned. “I’d pay to see that.”
“Me skipping?”
“You happy,” Adolin said, laughing. “You’ve got a face like a storm! I half think you could frighten off a storm.”
.
“It’s not a lie,” Shallan said, “if everyone understands and knows what it means.”
“Mm. Those are some of the best lies.”
.
“To live was to be a fragment of the cosmere that was experiencing itself.”
.
“Control is the basis of all true power. Authority and strength are matters of perception”
.
“Beauty was out there, all around. To create art was not to capture it, but to participate in it.”
.
“To age truly was to suffer the ultimate treason, that of one’s body against oneself.”
.
“Humans can see the world as it is not. It is why your lies can be so strong. You are able to not admit that they are lies."
.
“My other hand?' Lopen said. 'The one that was cut off long ago, eaten by a fearsome beast? It is making a rude gesture toward you right now. I thought you would want to know, so you can prepare to be insulted.” (How can you not love him?)
.
“All people are musicians" Wit countered. "The question is whether or not they share their songs.”

5 stars!
I mean it is my all time favorite book.
I believe no book can ever come even close to this one. I have rated many books 5 in the past but no one is as good as this
