Dark mage is by far my favourite book in the series. 4 power crystals are still missing, 3 mages have been chosen to find them. 2 worlds colliding, one evil, one magical. 1 mage will betray them all. 4 power crystals are missing, so the mages split up and go after them separately with the help of their bonded animals. Kara tries to find a way to replace the power crystal she accidentally destroyed. I’ll admit she gets kind of carried away in the fashion realm, especially with the wishing crystal she finds. It was kind of cool but when Kara ended up at that mall it felt like she landed right in the centre of a musical with all the singing creatures. So, three mages and one turns dark, apparently that’s the prophecy, and it’s happened before with other mages. The spider witch has designed a new magic web, and found a way to deliver all the dark magic once the gates of Avalon are opened, the baby unicorns from book 7? Yeah she turns them dark. Very clever. The dark sorceress was a mage herself, the warrior, before she succumbed to the prophecy. The spider witch was apparently the healer, her name was Silvan. And Lucinda was the blazing star, Kara is related to Miranda, the dark sorceress. So naturally because Kara is related to her, Adrian thinks she will become the dark mage. I won’t lie, she doesn’t. Don’t read any further if you don’t want spoilers. Emily becomes the dark mage. Adrian and Kara are fighting like children when the gates of Avalon open, and Emily succumbs to the prophecy. Adrian and Kara fail Emily at a time when she needs them both desperately. They don’t even realize she’s the dark mage until it’s too late. The dark sorceress strolls into Avalon’s open gates after basking in her triumph, she claims that only the dark mages are allowed to enter Avalon because it’s filled with dark magic. Which may very well be true. Emily killed Ozzie, the ultimate act of betrayal to become the dark mage. Adrian and Kara should really have tried to put their childish bickering aside at a time like this, if they had maybe Emily wouldn’t have turned dark. Adrian is always quick to accuse Kara of things which leads to all the bickering. And Kara was just trying to right a wrong and replace the crystal she accidentally destroyed. I honestly can’t remember the last book, one thing is certain though, evil won’t win. It never does.

I really enjoyed it, though it is not my favorite. It was a lot darker then the others. I am looking forward to reading the last one though (though I am sad that once I am done with that book, I won't have anymore to read of this series). I have been reading this series since I was around 12 or 13, and now I am 20! So it is a important series to me, and it will be very sad when it ends. I am sooooo looking forwards to the movie though!!!

Despite the tension in their friendship, the mages must split and find the remaining crystals and open the Gates to Avalon - but between the draw of dark magic, the breaking of the Web, and the fear that one of them will betray the others, there may be too much stacked against Ravenswood...Roberts will keep fans glued to every page of this exciting penultimate entry, brimming with suspense and heart like never before. Every wrong turn could mean the end of Aldenmor, of the Magic Web - of reality itself...

I think this is where the series finally finds it’s footing, which is a shame because it’s the second to last book. The conflict finally feels high enough in stakes for there really to be an adventure, whereas the last few books were mostly focused on the girls and whatever magical animal was the highlight of the plot. I also totally forgot the plot of these last two books, so it feels like I’m reading it all for the first time again.

I have mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand, the end is SHOCKING. I was extremely shook. But on the other, most of the book was pretty boring. Kara goes off and does her own nonsense as usual, and Adriane does some world-walking, and Emily ends up in a secret meeting. But yeah. Good ending. SO MANY TYPOS.

Interesting twist - will be glad to finish this series. I think girls age 13 and under would love the series though - I did at that age and it's not terrible for adults

I had to bump my rating down. Adriane and Kara were insufferable in this volume. I wish we’d focused more on Emily’s journey since .

This book Dark Mage by Rachel Roberts is a tale for anyone of any age. This is the 11th book in Rachel Roberts series Avalon Web of Magic, a children's book adventure series about three ordinary girls who find magic jewels and become the legendary healer, warrior, and famous blazing star. In the 11th book Dark Mage our girls are level 2 thanks to there adventures in the previous 3 books where they helped others in some way and earned they're level 2 powers. Emily can now see auras around people and see if the creatures are evil or good just by looking at an outline around the creatures with her healing abilities level 2. Adrianne can now turn into stormbringer, her Padladin that guards her from the spirit pack and can run along the spirit trail together thanks to her level 2 abilities. Kara the famous blazing star is now even more powerful and can barely contain control of
her powers sometimes because she's level 2, has the strongest magic, and has a unicorn jewel. Everyone who knows Kara for using dark magic without realizing might be surprised with who is being called Dark Mage for being mistaken for the spider queen. The spider queen is working with the Dark Mage to take over Avalon to be the ultimate leaders of all magic and absorb every last bit of magic until no one could stop them. During the 3 mage's quests to find the last 3 power crystals and fix a broken power crystal to open the gates of Avalon you meet a prisoner and hear a conversation with the Dark Mage which is where the title Dark Mage comes from. "There's always someone who gets corrupted and they will join us in completing our prophecy of keeping Avalon to ourselves!" This is the Dark Mage's words to the prisoners. Will anyone turn evil on the quest to save Avalon? If someone does turn evil who will it be and how? Who's the surprised prisoner that's captured by the Dark Mage? Will the heroes Kara, Emily, and Adrianne create a new power crystal? The Spider Witch is confused with an imposter, who is this imposter and what will she to to them if the Spider Witch finds out who it is? Overall will the magic web crumble or be saved? Find out in Dark Mage by Rachel Roberts in her series Avalon Web Of Magic her 11th out of 12th book in the series.

Dark Mage is the eleventh book in the Avalon Web of Magic series. In the series 3 mages use magic to try and save the magical worlds and find Avalon,a missing legened.

In Dark Mage, the 3 mages have four power crystals left to find. They have learned that many mages have been choosen before them to find Avalon, but they never suceeded. Each of the remaining power crystals have dark magic in them, and each mage will have to bond with the dark magic, face their greatest fears, and in the end, one girl will become the dark mage.

Dark Mage was one of the best books I ever read. It was one of those suspensful, i can't put this down type of book. It was really detailed, and action packed. It twisted and turned down a lond winding path, but wraped it up very nicely.

I did not like this book, Rachel tried to make things darker, and when she tries to do that, sometimes it turns out boring. I'm not saying she's a bad author, but she did not do good on this book, I would've liked Kara better as the dark mage. It's suits her better than it does Emily.

I read these when I was younger but I would still read them now. They have enough magic in them to entertain anybody.

Pretty good! A bit dark and nerve-wracking, though.
