Someone has stolen a famous tea ceremony bowl. And they'll do anything to keep you and your friend Kenichi from finding it.
Japan is a country where they take their cultural pursuits seriously. So when your friend Kenichi Doi calls and tells you that a valuable tea ceremony bowl has been stolen from the Ura Senke School of Tea, you know something unusual is going on. It's only when Kenichi's brother Takashi tells you how valuable the bowl might be on the black market that you begin to suspect more than a minor theft. Your boring New Year's vacation is about to get a lot more interesting. Your search for the tea bowl known as "Yukisoo" will take you all over Kyoto and beyond before you are done. Or done in. Good luck!

It's been a long time since I've read a Choose Your Own Adventure book. I really enjoyed this! I ofc read through the entire thing trying to see what all the endings are. I like how the characters'/your decisions were relatively separate from the mystery itself; it's more like you stumbling on a mystery than being directly involved in it.
I think this is the first Choose Your Own Adventure book that really left me frustrated. It was like I was only making partial decisions for my person. Because of the partial decisions, my character was caught before they had even had the chance to do anything.
I would recommend many other Choose Your Own Adventure books before this one.
this wasn't the best book of choose your own adventure. not very adventurous, its about a treasure that your off to find. the beginning got me exited but later on further in the book it wasn't very fun. overall i would not recommend i only got to choose my adventure a few times.
This CYOA book was a new one for me and in the style where you're a detective. I had high hopes but the story seemed overly simplistic and was very short.
FYI - CUP OF DEATH and THE MYSTERY OF URA SENKE are the same Choose Your Own Adventure story just published with a new title.
The mystery is more like a cup of boredom… my adventure was a van following me briefly and a psychic foretelling the bowl reappearing. Hope the other paths were less lackluster.
i thought this book was so interesting. i love how i got to be in charge of the story. its like i can make it into my own adventure. there were times i was a little confused about how to go about the book but in the end i kind of got the hang of it. i think these kind of books are very interesting and would get more people who don't like to read to start reading. its like you make up the story along the way and get to choose what you want to happen.
This book was interesting, however I do not think it flowed nicely. It was also the first novel I read in the, "create your own adventure" category- so my dislike towards the novel could have been to this. It was interesting and I think some kids would like it but it is defiantly in a category on its own. I may have one or two in my future classroom but it would depend on my student's preferences.
I love Choose Your Own Adventure...middle school flashbacks! And one about Japanese tea ceremonies? Be still my heart. I'd just like to point out also that I picked the BEST timeline first in my opinion.
