Big hopes for the Rick guy introduced at the very end of the previous book turned out not so big after all...
For some unknowable reason this series has made my weekend. Sort of cheered me up.
Q:
“I’d like medical attention,” Fries said in a low moan from the couch.
“You’re about to get my attention again,” I said and pointed the gun at him. “Will that suffice?”
“No,” he croaked.
“No is a good word,” I said, “You should learn what it means when a woman says it to you.”
(c)
Q:
“I’m surprisingly ravenous,” I said, “though I did just lose everything I’ve ever eaten and possibly things that my ancestors ate as well.”
(c)
Q:
“Speak for yourself,” I said, “I didn’t convince her of anything. I’m still not sure that being under Omega protection is any better than being left to die under the gentle auspices of Century.”
He gave me a wary eye. “You think death is preferable?”
“Death is preferable to a great many fates I can think of,” I said with only a hint of bitterness.
(c)
Q:
“All right, then,” he said, wary again. “I do ask you to try and refrain from making more enemies while you are here. I don’t think Klementina bears you any ill will—”
“Even after I punched her in the face?” I asked, amused. “Are you sure you can read emotions?”
(c)
Q:
“Sorry,” I said. “I don’t do well in groups.” Because I was already a group, all by my lonesome, just me and the ghosts of the people I’d killed.
(c)
Q:
“Who are you?” Breandan asked, almost mocking. “A James Bond villain?”
“No, but I think the Primus of Omega kind of was.” I let my feet carry me down the concrete hallway to a staircase at the end. I glanced back to see Kat, Breandan, Karthik and Reed following behind me.
“Well,” Karthik said with a little smile, “you kind of are the Primus of Omega, now.”
(c)
Q:
“The former Primus was a real Renaissance man,” I said. “And I mean that in the sense that he should have stayed there. Look at this place. It’s like a mausoleum, a crypt dedicated to a man who didn’t know where the hell he belonged. For all we know, that equipment was there so he could preserve his own life, extend it. I see a man with so much ego that he couldn’t see past his own nose, couldn’t see the point of leaving any kind of legacy for those he was leaving behind.” I looked up at the concrete ceiling. “I mean, look at the kid he left. Some punk that got dragged in from Los Angeles based on name recognition alone by the ministers, just hoping he wouldn’t make waves, I guess. Did he even seem like the kind of guy who knew his father?”
(c)
Q:
“I’ll deal with it—and him—when the time comes,” I said with a wellspring of confidence that originated … hell if I knew where. Somewhere inside. “It’s not like there’s anything I can do to prepare.”

A return to this long series for me after a break, Sienna is still lethal, still talks good trash, kills lots of people and keeps the pace rolling along. Might be getting to the point where enough is enough tho, but Mr Crane did leave me with a bit of a cliff hanger, so .....

Hi, Sienna! We meet again!

Okay, I admit, it took me longer than it should have to read of your latest ordeals. First, I was going to buy on Smashwords but then The Smashwords Debacle happened with RJC and then my Nook refused to process the order for TWO DAYS. (I spent the interim cheating on you with Elise Kavanaugh. You don't mind, right? Your torturer and Elise's are buds, yeah?)

BUT OH HOW I WISH THIS BOOK HAD EXISTED LAST YEAR. I already tweeted this out, but seriously. If this installment had been around last year, I could have been calling my ex-sister-in-law a gutterslut SO MUCH LONGER THAN JUST SINCE YESTERDAY.

No, gutterslut is not my only take-away from this book, but it very well might be my favourite.
...That's a lie, actually.

Three things that made me very, very happy:
1. Gutterslut.
2. REED REED REED REED! I MISSED YOU, BUDDY! Where were you to provide Sienna with the humanity she needed from the last book?
3. MY PANTHEON HAS ARRIVED. :D :D :D :D All we need now is Zeus knocking up a crapload of people and I will forgive anything I find questionable that happens in the rest of the series.

Three things that made me sad:
1. Where is Zollers? D: Moar Zollers, please. But I am a huge Zollers fangirl. We already knew this.

...Okay. No, there's only one.

On another note, I will try to be as spoiler free as possible, but with that almost-plot-twist at the end? Come on!

Anyway, yes. I think the only reason I haven't been giving out five stars individually is because I'm stingy as hell with them, but the series overall is right there.

This is book 7 in one of my favourite series. Sienna Nealon the meta-hybrid with a fistful of attitude and the strength of multiple hulks is back.
For new readers I would suggest Alone: The Girl in the Box, Book 1 so you can get a better idea of how, why, when and who.

I can remember saying something along the lines of this is the quiet before the storm about book six, well this book is the storm. It is the tornado called Sienna Nealon and she is crying out for vengeance and weeping tears of blood.
Just not her blood.
Does that sound too excited? Mayhap, but the main character shows a side to herself that even she didn't know existed. Since book one we have watched her fight internal conflicts with her humanity and now that side of her seems to be losing the battle.
Wolfe still seems to be the unknown variable in the equation. He is often X or Y and sometimes both at the same time. Is he the driving force or is this ipso facto a part of her character or genetics that the Old Ones (you know them Gods and such like)know exist inside her and yet she is completely unaware of it all?
Sienna ends up in merry old England and meets a quirky irish chap with a penchant for luck and witty quips. Despite her personal grievance she is forced to deal with the ultimate threat. A threat that may force a coalition of enemies.
People and popular characters drop like flies being executed by a huge meta flyswat.
So now let's get down to the real nitty gritty.
There is a secret.
Ok to be fair the fact that Old Man Winter has been keeping info to himself has been evident for a long time. That secret has something to do with who or what Sienna really is.
My inner Sherlock thought I had solved it there for a moment, but then I realised that Crane was smarter.
No worries, I shall figure it out, just you wait.
Overall it was a cracking read and one of those books you just can't put down until you have eagerly gobbled up the last page and clicked/swiped/looked for just one page more.
I received a copy of this book courtesy of the author.

I was really into these books for the first three but then it started to lose pace. It turned into mor about guns than super-human powers. And I never felt like any situation was "heavy" because one, she hasn't been in any real danger for several books. She is 18 and has been defeating people who were considered Gods. She would run at them have a short fight then walk away and be healed by morning she beat Omega's strongest people in seconds, and I never saw what they could do because they were beaten like she was fighting children. Lastly, I couldn't get into the serious situations because she never SHUT HER DAMN MOUTH! Every other sentence was either whining or a bad joke. I like wit but god damn!

Warning: Girl in the Box is a 10 book series with each of the first 9 books ending with cliff hangers. While each can be read as a stand-alone as the author does give a brief background of the story played out in the previous books leading up to the current book, you won’t know how Sienna Nealon’s story ends until you finish the 10th book. So if you don’t want to be invested in reading through all ten books you may want to skip this series or skip ahead to the last book.
As the 7th book in the Girl in the Box series Enemies opens, Sienna Nealon is on her way to London to spend time among her sworn enemies of the meta human Omega organization in order to help her locate and kill her former mentor and father figure Eric Winter. At this juncture in her story it would seem all Sienna has is enemies. There’s Winter, her mother Sierra, her aunt Charlie, Omega and Century the meta human organization bent upon genocide of all meta-humans that aren’t part of them. Sienna is still very much the broken girl from the previous book Broken. She feels alone with no one to trust after those she has trusted from her mother to Winters to the other meta-humans of the Directorate have betrayed her in the worst ways. She has the voices of those she’s killed in her head driving her to near madness. No longer the young woman of earlier books who obsessed and felt guilt over killing psychopathic killers who had tried to kill her, Sienna is still singularly focused on revenge for the killing of her first love Zach. Honestly I think I lost some sleep over this book worrying about poor Sienna’s psyche and soul. This is a book of transitions for Sienna. The obvious from the title is she comes to see people she considered her enemies can sometimes become allies and even friends. The greater transition comes towards the end of the book when Sienna finds a greater purpose for herself than avenging Zach’s murder. She also finds a new confidence in herself to overcome those who are her enemies and with it the ability to quiet those voices in her head. Along the way she learns more about why both the now defunct Directorate and her half-brother’s organization Alpha hated Omega. She learns more about Century and it’s leader Sovereign. She meets his second in command Weisman another psychopathic meta with the ability to suspend time. What she doesn’t learn and what the author continues to tease us with, with several near revelations is why she is so important in this battle that threatens to destroy the meta world that all the players have tried to manipulate her?

Really great writing

I love this story. I have been reading these at a break-neck pace and haven't been disappointed by the story weaving off in odd directions or being tempted to jump forward because the story was losing my interest. That is so refreshing.
I love the author's skill with crafting a tale that hints at something but doesn’t give it away and also doesn’t drag it on for torturous minutes that make the tease seem irritating. I find the main character is losing part of herself that was so endearing, but the horror of what she's been through makes her breakdown understandable. I do hope she finds her way back to her core morals because it's understandable but brutal all the same.
I'm holding back my reading time so I'll wrap this up by recommending this series. I believe you will be pleased you took the time.

ok so this is pretty much the same as the other books. We meet new bad people, kill them and then repeat. I can't even remember the names that's how quickly we are introduced to them and then they meet death. Everyone who try's to say anything interesting is killed off. Now the next book. I will keep reading this to find out what happens however the only reason is because they are available on kindle unlimited. If I had to pay $4.99 per book. I would have quit reading on book 2. Then when this series in done there is girl out of the box.

It was interesting to have the story jump over to England and expand into more of a global plot. Having to work with her enemies in Omega makes Sienna realize that not all enemies are so bad. I'm interested to see how the story progresses now that there's this epic villain to contend with, and the end of powered folks in general to contend with.

I really enjoyed this book and the path it took me down, learning more about Sienna and her past and more details of the history with the Metas. This book was a great stepping stone to the war that I know is coming in one of the future books.
I have loved this series so far! I have enjoyed the character development and all of the twists and turns that so many of the characters have taken.

An epic adventure!

Moving into book right because I need to see what is going to happen to Sienna. I never understand why she doesn't kill people, killers, like Weissman instead of having a conversation with them. Only three more books until the end, and I am so looking forward to what's coming.

4 1/2 Stars

I have finished seven books and part of book eight. I’m stopping here for a break and plan to pick up later.
These books are really good and I love Sienna’s witty remarks. I didn’t realize how long this series was when I started. Serious kudos to the author for remaining consistent through the series to this point.

Fantastic

I can't write a review of every book, because I am reading them so fast. On number 8 now and only discovered this amazing author a week ago. This series is truly addictive. A young woman who has powers that continue to expand as she attempts to save the few of her people that have not been killed. Recommend.

Sienna is now in London, shes killed off M-Squad but she didn't get Old Man Winter, she's mad at herself for not being able to take him out. But she has no time to dwell on that, century is tracking down all the Metas and wiping them out...

This book was a bit meh but still, I was astounded by the turn of events. I wonder who will pop up next!?

And the best goes on...

Book number 7 was not a disappointment. With its twists, turns, plot and strong characters, I felt like I was watching from the sidelines, not just reading a story. Looking forward to continuing the saga with book number 8! Highly recommended to those readers who like super heroes, mythology, and just causes.

Sienna, Sienna, Sienna. Peanut just keeps finding herself deeply in it, and it would seem that she's not yet out of the woods.

So much has happened in such an incredibly short time that my head is left reeling after the end of each book.

Curious to see what becomes of her in book 8, so onward I go.

Oh my!

Poor Sienna. I don't want to give it away so I'll let you read the book yourself. It will be worth it. Constant stress, constant worry. After reading this I'll not consider anything in my life a problem. Lol. Thanks Robert, your books are not only entertaining; they are somewhat healing.

Moreish

I seriously can not put these books down. I'm reading until the early hours of the morning, all because I can not find a stopping point. Every time I think I may have, something happens right at the end of the chapter or paragraph and I've just got to continue

Enticing to the last page!

I am enjoying the series! I can picture each character, the detail Robert J. Crane writes with is superb. I also enjoy and appreciate the efforts made to bring fact and accuracy in with fantasy. Well done once again Mr. Crane

Lost

I am captivated by the characters. Even though it is kind of similar to x-men , it Still allows you to get lost. I would say that it is more geared towards young people (I am 47 years young).

Bloody Hell!

What a bloody mess Sienna had gotten herself into again! I'm not sure how she will get out of this one but I'm sure there will be more blood and guts again. So much for such a young girl to handle and I don't think she will get out of it so easy this time.
