In this short-story prequel to Katherine Applegate and Michael Grant’s Eve and Adam, fifteen-year-old E.V. (Evening) doesn’t know where she fits in to the universe. After a particularly disastrous school dance experience, she’s begins to wonder if she fits in at all. She did bloody the school heartthrob’s nose and all because he tried to kiss her. Having been accused of being a "frigid bitch," E.V. begins to question her place in the cosmic world of relationships and dating to little avail; her CEO mother is emotionally unavailable, her dad is dead, and her best friend thinks true love exists in the back seat of a used Honda. But then E.V. spots someone, a blip on her otherwise indifferent radar that suggests there just might be someone out there for her . . .
Love Sucks and Then You Die is typisch het laatste geval.
Another novella that really doesn't add anything to the book its associated with. Yes is was interesting to see Eve before her accident, how she viewed life, her realtionship with her mom. But overalll it didn't add to the story.

This was quite a bit of fun - even if it was a really short read. The writing style was different from what I was used to but I found it refreshing and enjoyed reading.
Evening (E.V.) seems like a genuinely interesting character - witty, intelligent, and definitely one I want to read more of. Her friend, Aislen, seems like the perfect foil for her.
I honestly have no idea how to rate this or what to say about this. I told you I stopped at 36% and that's also where the novella ends. The rest are chapters from Eve&Adam plus a bonus Q&A with the authors.
I WAS DECEIVED AND LATE RECEIVER. KATHERINE AND MICHAEL ARE FREAKING MARRIED FOR THIRTY-FOUR YEARS (plus more because this was published in like 2012 or 2013 whatever so add them up) AND I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT IT.
I feel so left out.
Anyway, with regards to the novella part, the prologue kind of thing, it was, I have no idea. Seriously. I don't even get the title. There were cameos from the characters that one would meet in Eve&Adam and that's basically it.
But I loved the Q&A. Maybe you can even say that i enjoyed that more than I actually enjoyed the whole prologue thing.
One thing got me though: It's depressing, is all. The irrelevance of everything. Of us. We're all just blips. Grains of sand on a massive beach.
This short story gives us another view into the mind of EV, or Eve. It takes place over her prom night, when she punches her date for trying to kiss her. That's basically the entire story, as it is exactly 18 page turns on the Kindle app on my phone.
Aislin is included within this story, but it is simply portraying her as a "drunken slut" again, and not showing any of her real inner qualities at all.
I think that this prequel was supposed to spice up Eve a bit by giving her a semi-interesting backstory. However, the entire scene seems completely out of character for her. If anything, I would have expected for her to run away, not punch him in the face. Nevertheless, my biggest problem was simply the fact that it is called a prequel, yet I have literally read chapters of fanfiction longer than this.
My daughter started to read Eve & Adam earlier this year, but she put it aside because she couldn't get into it. So I kept the book and plan to read it myself. And that's why I was curious about this prequel short story.
E.V. seems like a strange girl in search of true love. In the search for something special, she gets involved in an incident at the school dance. And she starts to question how she fits into the grand scheme of things.
I liked this shorty, though I can now understand why my daughter didn't enjoy the tone of the story. I did, and still plan to read the book this leads into...
Why would I even pick this up after the experience I had with Eve & Adam? …Well, what can I say. I had nothing else to read at hand (again), and an add popped on my screen offering it for free on ebook. So yeah I had to get it, because free books ae always welcome. Yet, I wish I hadn’t since this one left a horrible after taste behind.
After that, I’ll keep this short. Worst short story I ever read. It was mostly a chapter that added nothing in any sense.
One star for the title and cover, other than that reading this won’t give you any pleasure.
I’m trying to read through my backlog on my Nook, since I sometimes go on buying sprees and then never look at the books again. So I might have read this before, I might not have.
This is such a short story that I have to wonder if I paid anything for it. I think it was only 15 pages? If that. But still, I did find that I liked it. I have a vague memory of Eve and Adam, and of liking that story well enough (maybe I’ll reread it) and this filler is written in such a way that I do find myself wanting to know more about Evening.
So I suppose it does it’s job. I can’t justify giving it any more stars due to its length, but I think for what it was trying to accomplish, it got the job done.
This was like 10 pages long. It wasn't bad, but it's hard to rate something that short. Anyway, it was free on the iBooks store so it's not like I paid anything for it.
(Also, I'm not reading short stuff for the sake of the goal, but because I'm waiting for a book in the mail and I don't want to start anything long before it gets here because I really want to start it right away..)
This short prequel to Eve & Adam is a cute, very quick read. Eve gets an email from Bob who is upset about their prom date. She calls her friend Aislen and they discuss love. Aislen is in "lust" and the three of them go to the cemetery where Eve's dad is buried.
Eve meets Solo, a boy who works for her mother that everyone calls Terror because she is such a B-word.
I have no idea what this was about. I thought it would be a quick read which would push me to read the next book but I don't think I would. There was not much in the book and what was in there was some high school crazy mess which made no sense to me. All I got out of the whole thing was a bloody nose "literally speaking!"
For a prequel short story, it really doesn't tell you too much. The reader doesn't learn anything more than what they've already read in Eve & Adam. It's a cute introductory story of some of the characters, but it's not something I'd go out of my way to read nor recommend for anyone else to do so. For those that have not read Eve & Adam, DON'T judge that book on this short story!
This is more of a sneak peek than anything else. The short story was super short. The rest was the first five chapters of the first book, and an interview with the authors, which was a fun read. So I guess, all in all, not bad for something that's free. I'm intrigued and I hope the actual book would be good.
Evening wanted to be able to do something but there was one problem she was physically handicapped after a car crash. So after her awakening her mother assigns her a task, create the perfect boy. Then all things change when Eve fell in love with her creation even though the truth is horrifying. Will she see her creation come to life or will her friends take her away from her project.
This was really short and doesn't really add anything to the story. I read this because I wanted my friend to read Eve and Adam. She has an account on Scribd and I stumbled upon its existence while looking for said book. It took me 10 minutes to finish. It should have been added as a prologue for the story rather than a book by itself.
This short book was.... I should say okay. It gives the reason why Eve wants to create her 'perfect boy' in Eve & Adam. I guess I had really high expectations for this short story. It doesn't give you the excitement to read Eve & Adam. It could have been better, but I did enjoy the writing style of this prequel.
