Reva learns nothing, as usual (though the ending makes me think maybe she will after all, but this is the end of Reva's story so who knows. I want to believe the lessons will stick this time). Plenty of twists I didn't see coming. Rather enjoyable and a bit twisted. Plenty of murder.

I liked this plot best of the 3 books but I’m so Reva I couldn’t rate it any higher. I was hoping she didn’t make it out of the series alive but damn. At least there’s no more in the series.

Better than the first book but definitely not the second. All 3 books in this trilogy are very different and could quite honestly be read as standalones. This one was a bit of a jumbled mess but still quite entertaining! I really grew to love reading about Reva though, especially watching her get tormented more and more throughout the books.

I'm going to miss that bitch Reva Dalby!! The last installment of the Silent Night series sees Reva still mean, nasty and conniving as ever. And yes, there is more boyfriend stealing 🤣🤣

There was a fellow GRACE in this book! But Fear Street Grace is SO annoying. She's Reva's friend from college that is staying with Reva but her stalker ex-boyfriend is after her!! Calling Reva's place and stalking Grace and beating her up!! 😭 LIKE STOP CRYING AND WHINING AND GO TO THE POLICE ALREADY 💀💀💀💀

The death count is high with this one. Also there are many inventive ways of using scarves as illuminated in the book 🤣🤣🤣

The reveal of the killer was something I didn't see coming because I guess I iz clueless 🙃 Also! There is a thrilling DOUBLE TWIST 💀💀

My final notes with mild spoilers....YOU'VE BEEN WARNED....💀💀💀

-You can tell this book was written by RL and NOT a ghostwriter because there is a fake knife toy with a retractable blade gag in the book. RL STINE LOVES THOSE JOKES AND GAGS! 🤣🤣💀

- Reva wears black platform shoes and there is a 1-900 number mentioned. YUP, We are definitely still in the 90s 🤣🙌🏼❤

- OKAY I am calling the mayor of Shadyside right this minute to shut down Dalby's department store. They're averaging about 3 murders a year in there 😱😱

Decided to read the final installment of the Silent Night Trilogy... how does it fare lined up with the first two...?

Well, in this one, much like 2, Reva is back to being... Reva, and there's very little to no continuity. In this entry, Reva is back from college and she brings a friend along with her... (An act of kindness?! *gasp*) ...when she learns her college roommate is trying to avoid an abusive ex-boyfriend. After they get home, Grace (Reva's friend) starts receiving threatening phone calls from her ex, telling her he's coming to get revenge for breaking up with him and all that fun stuff. Grace freaks out and tells Reva that she's in danger... (I'll mention here that Grace is very paranoid, jumping at every little sound, seems to think her EX is god-like and break into their house at any given moment and kill them both.) ...Reva starts to think she shouldn't have invited Grace with her and wishes she would go home. That's more like the Reva we all know and (some of us) love. And, I can actually agree with Reva's change of attitude toward her friend. Grace is extremely annoying and kind of idiotic... so much so I was wondering if there was something off with her character, in how she's involved with the final twist... turns out I was right, but I won't get into that because spoilers and stuff.

So, much of the suspense revolves around Grace's EX stalking her and Reva, though the extent of what happens is threatening phone calls, a tactic we've seen about 1,000,000 times now in these types of books. But then, Pam (Reva's cousin) makes a return in the story, coming to Reva with a business proposition. She and her friend have some homemade scarves they would like to sell in her store. They turn out to be really nice, really high quality scarves they can make some money on. Reva, being Reva, agrees to this, and then tells her father that she's the one that designed the scarves and of course Robert Dalby agrees to sell them in his store. What follows is a small fashion show for the new line up of scarves, but one of the models is found dead, skewered on a pole in place of a mannequin. Yikes. Who could it possibly be? Of course, there are a few different suspects in the ring with obvious red herrings. Reva then herself receives a threatening phone call, saying she deserves the same fate as the model stuck to the mannequin pole. So now we have this to worry about on top of Grace's EX running around and hunting them. Who will be next? Will they find the murderer in time?

I will say this - I actually enjoyed this one more than 2. But not by much. To create suspense and a new plot, Stine kind of pushes his luck by having character inconsistencies (Reva bringing her college friend home, then immediately regretting it), having Pam included in this book for the sole purpose of the Scarf/Fashion Show/Mannequin-murder Plot point... (Pam's character is otherwise very flat compared to the first two books and given less scene time), and of course the very unstable Grace that is terrified of her own shadow, thinking her ex-boyfriend lurks around every corner. God, I really despised her character.
Unfortunately, while this one was at least somewhat enjoyable, it kind of falls apart in the end during the denouement. I liked one of the twists, and kind of saw it coming, in regards to Grace and her ex, but the way it played out was dumb. Really dumb. And then the big reveal of who was the "mannequin killer" was also really dumb, with an even dumber final act. Basically, the last 25 or so pages of the book was just DUMB.
It left me feeling kind of cold to the book and the trilogy overall, though I still think this book is slightly better overall than Silent Night 2. This one at least focused on the central characters more (Reva; and Pam, to a degree) instead of a trio of bumbling teenaged criminals that don't know north from south. Of course, our main characters aren't as fleshed out as they were in the first installment, but, interestingly enough, Michael (Reva's little brother, who was absent in book 2), and Robert Dalby (her father) both make appearances in this book and actually have some sort of development here. Without getting too detailed (spoilers and stuff, again), Mr. Dalby actually (sorta kinda) punishes Reva for her bratty attitude later on. Say-whattttttt. And Michael returns as a totally changed kid, hell-bent on kicking someone's ass, specifically whoever breaks in the house and messes with his family. (But also kicking his older sister's ass and scaring the living crap out of her in the process. *shrugs*)

Overall, this one was just okay. It was just entertaining enough, but falls flat by the end as we get our typical eye-rolling twists and turns and a rushed ending. Better than 2, but still nowhere near the quality of 1.
Final Rating: 2.25 / 5 stars

You'd think Reva Dalby had learned her lesson and changed her ways after getting kidnapped but she's meaner and snottier than ever. I still liked her though, because I have an affinity for catty girls. The whoddunit bit sent me through a whirlwind but I was partially correct at guessing the suspect in the end.

Reva Reva Reva, wow you were terrible through and through girl! I was really rooting against her and waiting for comeuppance, the girl never learned her lesson, she was horrible to literally everyone. She was a really great love to hate her character though, I’ll miss Reva and always struggling to guess who the villain could be, because everyone has a reason to hate her!

Reviewed on Lili Lost in a Book

Reva is back from college on winter break and someone is out to kill Reva... again. But can you blame them? After everything that happened to Reva in the last two books, she is still treating people like sh*t. Yes, even her cousin Pam *shakes head* Reva is still up to her horrible little jokes that end up hurting people, but for whatever reason, she gets a kick out of it. Now people around her are dropping dead, and Reva is probably next. She thinks she can get anything she want, and will lie to get it, and as previously mentioned, even hurt people along the way. Her own freaking cousin! All the people she has crossed, it’s no wonder someone is always out to get her on a constant basis. This girl... she just doesn’t learn her goddamn lesson, does she? I guess someone’s gonna have to refresh Reva’s memory... again.

I loved the characters and setting—I just love Fear Street, okay? Lol. We met a couple of new characters throughout the series, which I always enjoy. I really liked Pam’s friend Willow—she was just great! Early on, we also meet Reva’s college roommate, Grace, who comes home with Reva for the holidays. Now, this surprised me because it was so nice of Reva to do. I have no idea where that generosity came from. It’s almost out of character for her. But anyway, Grace was... interesting. She was annoyingly skittish because of her stalker ex-boyfriend. I understand that he was just the worst, but Grace annoyed me! I actually found myself agreeing with Reva on this one point. I could not sympathize with Grace and I constantly found myself rolling my eyes at her thinking, “Get a grip, girl.”

Dean's eye roll.. he is so done

One thing I loved about the last two books was that they had amazing plot twists! This one, not so much. Well, no. They were interesting—the person behind all the murders and their motivation actually caught me a little by surprise. But only a little because the thing behind their motivation I had actually already guessed ahead of time. As soon as we were introduced to this particular character I knew there was something way off. Well, it was obvious to me anyway.

Overall, though, I really enjoyed Silent Night 3! I honestly hope Reva has finally learned her lesson. I just feel awful for Pam for having to deal with this awful cousin of hers. Seeing as how this book completes the Silent Night trilogy, it’s safe to assume Reva did indeed learn her lesson. But with the recent Fear Street relaunch going on, you never know ;)

As always, this was a great, thrilling holiday read... if you’re into that sort of thing ;)

merry fudging christmas

The Fear Street connection: Pam still lives on Fear Street?! Seriously? Yeah she does... *sigh*

It’s three books in now and even I can’t blame people for continuing to want to kill Reva. She always seems like she’s realized the error of her ways, but she’s always back to being a horrible person by the beginning of the next book. Poor Pam took so much crap from Reva in this one. That whole situation where was so messed up. I have to say though, as huge as a bitch as Reva was, her narration was pretty entertaining. It was of those things where I shouldn’t be laughing, but I was kind of shocked into finding it funny. Her blunt comments to people were priceless. There were a lot of ‘I can’t believe she just said what she said’ moments. She honestly had no filter and she would just say whatever mean thing that came to mind without thinking of how that would make the other person feel.

Plot wise, I thought that this final book was the weakest of them all. The murders weren’t exciting and they kind of seemed like an afterthought to the fashion show. I saw the twist coming a mile away, but that was probably because of residual memories from reading this when I was a little kid. I liked how it turned out that , but everything after that had me feeling underwhelmed. The motive behind everything kind of made no sense to me. The killer had this tragic backstory, but it was a bit of a stretch to have that lead to what happened. . I’m sorry, but that entire thing was really dumb. I just think that a better killer could have been chosen whose motives would have come off as more realistic.

SO MANY scarves!

Law of diminishing returns with this series. Though I think this book was better than #2 by just a hair. Silent Night 1 > 3 > 2.

Reva steals more than boyfriends in this one. She also steals business plans. There’s multiple attempted fashion shows. And multiple reverse mannequin fake outs. You think it’s a mannequin but this time it is actually a dead body! Stine also brings back the fake collapsible knife.

The final time we get to bask in the bitchiness of Reva Dalby, the worst person in Shadyside.

This should have been Silent Night 2 or you could just skip the second one all together, pretend it isn't canon I guess?

There's a little more to this story which makes it a little better.

Reva's not just being awful in her hometown anymore...she's at college now. Lord help the other students at Smith College.

She's coming home for Christmas break and brought her roomate, Grace Morton. The mousy brunette girl must not know how mean Reva can be or I'm sure Reva would have chased or scared her off.

Grace is more afraid of someone else...someone worse than Reva. Her old boyfriend Rory Givens which is why she didn't want to go home. He calls her and threatens her and Rory even beat Grace up one time which was enough for even cold-hearted Reva to extend the invitation to stay for the holiday break.

Reva is soon beginning to regret being human for a moment because Grace is jumpy about everything, everyone at the door and everyone who calls on the phone is possibly Rory. At least Reva still cares about her dad and brother.

After hearing about his sister being kidnapped last year, Michael has been acting out violently pretending to karate chop and assail anyone like some vigilante superhero. So much that even an eight-year old makes Grace jumpy.

On the other side of town, Pam Dalby is still trying to be positive despite not being able to go to college. Accepted to a few schools but couldn't afford to go...grades not good enough to earn a scholarship. In order to earn tuition, Pam is working at an insurance agency doing the typing and filing thing.

Pam made a new friend, a girl named Willow Sorenson. She's a little punk with her pierced nose and tattooed neck, brassy spiked hair. I'm sure she dresses conservative for work. They've hit it off that they have been taking crafting classes together and are fashioning beautiful scarves for the winter weather and the holiday season.

Pam wants to show the scarves to Reva to see if she can convince her father to sell them in his stores. They may not get along but Pam knows Reva has good taste in clothing and if she thinks the scarves are cool, Daddy will do whatever his spoiled daughter wants.

Reva thinks the scarves are gorgeous when she sees them but of course, Reva can't give her cousin a break. She convinces her father that she designed the scarves and he agrees to let her put on a fashion show to introduce them to the store. Pam, Willow and even Grace are aghast at Reva taking credit but Pam tells Willow that at least they are going to be selling them even if they will be under the name...Reva Wear.

Give me a break.

Reva wants to hire models and her dad says it's fine to have three as long as one of them is a model contracted to Dalby's...Traci Meecham. Reva and Traci got into a thing over a guy (of course) and neither one can stand the other but her father insists so Reva has to give in.

She hires a brunette named Liza Grogan and a redhead named Ellie Stern to contrast with blonde Traci and surprise Traci and Liza can't stand each other... another thing over a guy apparently.

Speaking of guys...Rory attacked Grace and gave her a black eye and a split lip to have her dramatically crash Reva's rehearsal for the fashion show. Grace refuses to go to the police or the hospital and Reva couldn't be more than tired of hearing about him.

A boy named Daniel Powell who goes to Smith with Reva and has dated her a few times is staying with a friend in Shadyside. He drove all the way and all night to come and see her and Reva had her security guards escort him off the property...saying she had no idea who he is.

They escorted him to the police station instead. Now he's working at Dalby's in the stockroom for the holiday thanks to his friend and he isn't happy at all about Reva's joke but of course, Reva couldn't care less.

The only guy she's concerned about is Liza's boyfriend, Grant Nichols. When he comes to pick up his girlfriend, Reva goes for him like a man-seeking missile and soon, she's got Grant going behind Liza's back making out with her at Pete's Pizza.

Reva just can't stand being a good girl and she's back on the naughty list again...but who's the person behind the horrifying holiday hit list this time?

We get some merry murder, red herrings, one reveal, one twist and...a partridge in a pear tree.

Kidding but we do get an ending that will always leave us wondering if anything can ever make Reva Dalby not go back to being an awful person. Pam is the only Dalby that learned a lesson through this trilogy: find something better than just a guy to make you happy.

Good for her.

The first Silent Night, then this one and then Silent Night 2 is my official ranking of the trilogy.

Will be back with another chilling Fear Street reread soon...right for the season but perhaps a tad later than intended.

Oh well...

Silent Night 3 was definitely the weakest of the three books. As much as I enjoy reading Reva’s mean girl shenanigans getting her almost murdered several times over, it would have been better to have her show some growth. Her and Pam should be trauma bonded at this point, so it was a tough sell when Reva claimed credit for Pam and Willow’s scarf collection. I also found Grace’s character insufferable from the jump. I think her presence was intended to be Reva’s attempt at being nice, but she was so grating I was distracted by any such subtleties concerning her. The ending was predictable, and it was truly implausible that all of the murders didn’t stop the fashion show. I can tell why Stine likes writing Reva’s character. You can really tell the books Stine has enjoyed writing, even when the book itself isn’t the greatest. Silent Night 3 was one of those. The story may have been forgettable, but it was at least very entertaining to read.

Score: 2.5

"The silky scarf felt like a wire slicing into Reva’s neck. Slicing deep into her throat.
Tighter.
Tighter. . .
Reva shivered with fright. The same song had played the night of the kidnapping. The night she’d almost been killed.
And now it was playing again.
“Silent Night.” 🎶🎵🎄

“Just remember this, Reva. Sooner or later you’re going to get what’s coming to you.”

Rich, snobby Reva Dalby wants a little fame for Christmas. And since her daddy owns Dalby's Department Store, she can have whatever she wants. Someone else will always pay. Except this year Reva goes too far. Now someone is watching her. When she's sleeping and when she's awake...until she's dead.
Are those just empty threats or will rich bitch Reva Dalby really get it this time. Reva still being...Reva. Already in college yet she never learns. Still being her awful self and screwing people over...has she really gone overboard this time? 🔪🩸

-The cover is pretty good. Solid image with these creepy mannequins. Spooky festive mannequins from hell! One having blood coming out of the mouth and a decently shocked Reva is a nice touch.

Hovers around 3 and 3.5 maybe. The ending makes it seem like our Reva is finally going to change for the better, but we all know that will never happen. Such a mess this trilogy, but I guess these sort of books are guilty pleasure reads, only I don't use that term anymore. I'm not guilty for liking them, they are more comfort/nostalgic reads.

This was an entertaining read, but definitely not as good as the first two. Reva, once again, is still the same gal that I hate. I definitely wish that more bad things would have happened to her instead of innocent others. I do enjoy how gruesome these stories have been, this one included. I would recommend this to others.

🛑Minor Spoilers🛑

Reva Dalby is home from college, bringing along her mousy roommate Grace (in a rare act of kindness) just so that she can observe how awful Reva is to her maids, cousin Pam, and all the guys that like her. It's enough to drive a girl crazy, and Grace has enough problems like a crazy, abusive ex-boyfriend who says he's going to kill her and Reva.

Reva doesn't care, though, as she's more concerned about putting on a fashion show for Reva Wear Scarves. It's a fashionable line of handmade scarves that her pushover cousin Pam is making with her friend Willow, yet Reva works it out to where she can take all the credit for the scarves while the other two girls do the work. However, once people close to the fashion show start dying, Reva's dreams of taking the fashion world by storm may end with a croaking gasp.

Let's run down those YA Thriller totals:

3 dead bodies

Evil Avenger Ninja Fu
Evil Mannequin Fu
Scarf Strangulation Fu
Mannequin Support Pole Fu

Gratuitous nose ring and tattoo to imply edginess
Gratuitous scary mannequin hat trick (each book used mannequins as a scare)
Gratuitous catty behavior
Gratuitous nonchalant attitude toward man on woman violence
Gratuitous nonchalant attitude toward murder in a store
Gratuitous death threats
Gratuitous Stine twist that you can see coming from the first chapter
Gratuitous second twist that comes out of nowhere

Hanky Panky: Of course, Reva steals away the boyfriend of one of her models. At least she's consistent.

Book Cover: I'm digging the spooky mannequins here, especially the vampire one, lol. Seriously, why is blood dripping from its mouth?

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 out of 5. Fear Nerd says, "Check it out!"

Final thoughts: This was my first time reading Silent Night 3, and I noticed the font size jumped up in this book like Stine switched to wide rule paper versus college rule. That being said, much like Best Friend 2, Silent Night 3 got some added edge (a true body count; crazy twists). I actually enjoyed this book the most, so it ends Reva's trilogy on a high note. Still, I can't help but think that Dalby's sales would suffer with all the murders in the store. Also, the first twist is easy enough to see coming because of the first phone call to the Dalby house! Reva's narcissism keeps her oblivious.

While better than the second one in the series, 3 falls short of the first one. Don't get me wrong, none of these are great, but at least the first one had some real horror elements to it. I don't have a problem with a dislikeable main character, but Reva has literally nothing going for her and her little jokes are just her being mean to people and then saying she was kidding. I did appreciate that the murderer (for the first time) is NOT motivated to murder because they are poor. So that added a star!
I'm going to hide the rest of this review because of spoilers that just need to be discussed here.

And so, in short, the covers of these books are more fun than the actual content in them. I think I would have rather have had this in Christopher Pike's hands. At least we would have had an unstable Vietnam vet, a trip to McDonald's, and probably and a visit from Krampus.

Oh, yeah, this is way better than the second third, ma it's not excellent (quite obviously, eh eh). Well well, Reva become a nice girl at the end and since the story is fullfilled she perhaps stays so, I hope. She is is bitchier than ever in SN3.
