Stolen Girl tells the story of a schoolgirl, Katie Taylor, who was systematically groomed and raped by a group of predatory Asian men. A disturbing, heartbreaking and enraging real life account. Katie Taylor had a very bad start in life , was mercilessly bullied at school, and after her parents broke and she moved with her mother and her boyfriend into an Asian area started at the age of 13 to get a lot of attention from Asian Muslim men which made her feel attractive at first, and did not know how fast she was falling into abuse and made by a combination of flattery , force and threats , into being made into a sex slave. Soon there was no way out and she was treated with unbelievable cruelty , and forced by the evil ringleader of the grooming gang to have brutal sex with dozens of Asian Muslim men.
Eventually she told her school social worker, but not before suffering terrible harm, repeated gang rape and torture. This is a harrowing read, and yet one is compelled to find out what really happened.
I focused on every word but at the same time was relieved when finally it was brought to a close. What made me white with anger was to read how the prosecution in the case accused this poor innocent girl of 'racism', for trying to bring her torturers and rapists to justice. Katie’s story was so harrowing and hard to read. I’ve read quite a few of these books and I’m so proud of how strong these amazing woman are who go through all they do. In regards to Katie’s book I’m glad her abusers got jailed just a pity they weren’t all jailed. They should all rot in jail for what they did.

To be honest, I don’t really read many books from the ‘misery’/abuse autobiography genre. I don’t want to overtly critical but each story is a game of two halves and, as I like everything I read to be balanced, I don’t like the fact that I cannot vouch for the authenticity of the story. I felt very much like this with this book in question.
On the surface and presented by this book is a harrowing tale of sexual abuse of a young girl at the hands of a male Asian gang. With the help of a ghost-writer’s voice and pen, the abused girl tells of a story of horrific and almost systemic abuse that affected her life from her early to mid-teens when she finally disclosed her story to a school employee.
Whilst the extent of abuse and apparent attitudes of the abusers can unquestionably not be forgiven, any self-respecting reader or UK citizen will still ask questions here of how it was ever possible for this girl to hide such harm from parents, authorities and society at large here. Whilst I don’t want to be intentionally over-critical, would any self-respecting parent, friend or ‘adult in change’ not have noticed any symptoms or differences in the attitude and general comportment of a young girl – especially as she alleges to have come from a loving family?
It is questions like these that for me overshadow such a read. By the same token, I don’t like the books I read to be sensationalist. The book in question does deal with a very sad story where it is reported that some of the accused received lengthy custodial sentences.
I’m not so hard-faced that I don’t wish the protagonist here luck in the future (of course, I do as wholeheartedly as possible). Maybe it’s a shame of society that for me (an outsider) much of the reading caused alarm bells to ring loud and clear in my head and I can't help but believe that more family members and close-knit associates of the girl should have noticed more.
I guess that books like these often leave me angry and frustrated that things that to me would seem SO DARN OBVIOUS so often go unnoticed by others!

Very Sad
Hope Katie can get on with her life now, and never feel she was to blame for any of it. She was an innocent, lonely child. She craved love and to fit into society. Just wish she had confided more in her dad when everything was going on, and it could have stopped these vile creatures sooner. However, you have to understand she was young and scared and what they threatened to do to her mum, scared her more.
Katie has helped a lot of young victims like her self not to suffer in silence, by writing this

Stolen Girl is not a memoir that anyone could want to read, but it focuses on a very real issue. This isn’t a book you could enjoy, but it’s important that we try to understand how such things might come to pass if we are going to have any hope of preventing them in future.
Katie Taylor is a fairly typical young girl. A little awkward on occasion, loves music and makes up dance routines with her best friend. However, when she goes to high school she is subject to bullying that she tries to ignore and doesn’t tell anyone about. Socially ostracised, and yet nobody in her family seems aware of this. Katie seems very adept at pretending…and this trait is probably the thing that prevented those closest to her from seeing the reality of her life.
When her parents split, Katie goes to live with her mum. She ends up in a slightly different neighbourhood and soon gets attention off an older boy. Alarm bells were ringing from the outset, but Katie likes the attention.
Before she knows it this fourteen year old finds herself having sex with numerous men, drinking and taking drugs, self-harming and feeling as if she’s done something to deserve what is happening.
Throughout the book I felt indescribably sad that girls such as Katie have to endure such behaviour. I felt angry that any man could feel this predatory behaviour was acceptable. I also felt amazed that nobody in a position to help seemed to pick up on any of the obvious signs this girl was showing.
A complex issue, and there have been a number of cases in recent years where such grooming has been a target for police investigation. It is clearly important that Katie got to have her voice heard and I hope, sincerely, that she - and others impacted by this event - continue to thrive. However, it feels voyeuristic to be given some of the details shared with us,and I’m more curious about the viewpoints of her parents and those who could have been in a position to help her.

Let’s start this review by saying it’s a well known fact that their are gangs of Pakistani Muslims in certain communities in the UK who groom white women and turn them to prostitution. The same can also be said of other ethnic minorities in other parts of the country. Just like white men go to other countries and do the same. It’s also a fact that the perpetrators of crimes in this country get better protection than the victims. And of course the wishy washy liberals are terrified of appearing racist or anti islamic and so let these people get away with so much more than a normal law abiding citizen who could get locked up for speeding or missing tax payments, whilst these guys can rape people and get away scot free. All that is known.
We also have to be shocked at the bullying she suffered at school and the complete lack of protection she received from teachers even when the bullying happened right in front of them Each and everyone of them should be fired and never allowed near a school again, but of course nothing will happen.
However, This book is an horribly annoying book of stupidity and bad decisions and I am afraid as much as what happened to this girl is horrific, I also feel that it is full of half truths and inaccuracies. Her wonderful parents. Hmm let’s see. Mum dumps the family to live with her old school crush. Girl goes to live with Mum because she said Brother is staying with Dad. Only fair right? Yet, once the brother decides to jump ship, all she is worried about is not losing her bedroom\ to him.
She has a boyfriend her age, but that's not enough. Soon this 13 yr old girl is willingly having sex with an 18 yr old Asian lad. Then in short order a 30 something and in her own words unattractive balding Asian man who she later claims ‘Raped’ her although she willingly goes back to his shop time and again to have sex with him because hey he gives her free sweets and cigarettes. Then she has sex with his other staff member who also ‘rapes’ her but it’s alright because he’s good looking and says he loves her. OK, at this stage she is boasting of having 3 boyfriends (in fact she has 4, the long suffering Dean, but he’s just a kid and really cares for her so he doesn’t count!). Mum doesn’t seem to notice her 13 yr old daughter is out all hours, doesn’t notice she comes in smelling of smoke. Seemingly mum is too wrapped up in her own life to pay any attention to her daughters wayward lifestyle At this stage there is no excuse, she is a promiscuous 13yr old who feels big because she is having sex with men (Vaginal, Oral, Anal, anything they want). Then as if that’s not enough out of the blue she gets a phone call from a man she has never met and knows nothing about and yet she agrees to meet him. He lies and says he is taking her to a cinema. Instead he takes her to a ‘secret’ house (having her hide on the floor of the car all the way there and back) He ‘rapes’ her and yet soon she is meeting him whenever he calls and is drinking alcohol and taking drugs. She is soon being shared amongst his ‘friends’ and even claims to have been gang raped. Yet still she keeps going back. She claims she has no choice because the man has threatened to rape her mum. Yet, she also keeps visiting the Asians at the shop and the original Asian man, none of whom it appears ever threatened her. This continues, she starts self harming and getting drunk and high on drugs and obviously must be out all hours, and her mum? Nothing, oblivious to her 14 yr old coming home drunk, smelling of sex and drugs. Great parenting. Then she gets pregnant and has to have an abortion. During this she happily lets her school friend Dean get the blame. After she is ‘forced’ to have an abortion you would think she would wake up and realise what she is doing but no she gets straight back on the bike and is soon being shared and used by the gang. Having unprotected sex and getting STD’s, drinking and taking drugs, Mum still blind! Now, after the abortion maybe, just maybe you could make an excuse for her not going back to the gang, but they had threatened to rape her mum right. Sure. And Mum, doesn’t ground her just turns a blind eye.
But explain why she goes back to the shop and not finding the original men (boyfriends 2 and 3) she is soon having sex with the new staff (her excuse is she’s doing it to protect her friend who fancies one of them) Nobody, has threatened her at the shop, yet she willingly goes with these men and has sex, including in a car with her friend also in the car with them.
The parents failed this girl, their job is to care for their child and they failed to notice her self harming, coming home drunk, going out and staying over night, never checking on her and after the abortion it just continued, the parents seemingly oblivious.
Now for the gold, she has been going to the secret house, being shared amongst the men in return for alcohol and drugs and never considered stopping. Suddenly, the idea comes up about her being a prostitute and taking cocaine. Suddenly she wakes up to the fact of where she is and what she is doing. And finally after years of excuses and blaming everybody but her self for her decisions she tells a school social worker. Finally!
The fact some of the men got away with their crimes is disgusting. She may have been stupid and willing for many of these acts, but she will still underage, so they should all have been found guilty. The fact many of these men were able to just skip the country or slide back into their disgusting community is all wrong.
So there we have it a story of bad parenting, a promiscuous, alcohol drinking, drug taking young girl who must have shone like a beacon for those looking for underage sex as seemingly any man that approached her was able to bed her providing he told her he loved her regardless of how he then treated her.
It’s a shocking story, but somewhere in it are lessons that must be learned. As for Katie Taylor. I hope she has learned a valuable lesson and will assume responsibility for her actions as well those of others. And I hope that her life improve. Although, I feel much of this book is her making excuses for her own bad decisions.
We also have to be shocked at the bullying she suffered at school and the complete lack of protection she received from teachers even when the bullying happened right in front of them Each and everyone of them should be fired and never allowed near a school again, but of course nothing will happen.
However, This book is an horribly annoying book of stupidity and bad decisions and I am afraid as much as what happened to this girl is horrific, I also feel that it is full of half truths and inaccuracies. Her wonderful parents. Hmm let’s see. Mum dumps the family to live with her old school crush. Girl goes to live with Mum because she said Brother is staying with Dad. Only fair right? Yet, once the brother decides to jump ship, all she is worried about is not losing her bedroom\ to him.
She has a boyfriend her age, but that's not enough. Soon this 13 yr old girl is willingly having sex with an 18 yr old Asian lad. Then in short order a 30 something and in her own words unattractive balding Asian man who she later claims ‘Raped’ her although she willingly goes back to his shop time and again to have sex with him because hey he gives her free sweets and cigarettes. Then she has sex with his other staff member who also ‘rapes’ her but it’s alright because he’s good looking and says he loves her. OK, at this stage she is boasting of having 3 boyfriends (in fact she has 4, the long suffering Dean, but he’s just a kid and really cares for her so he doesn’t count!). Mum doesn’t seem to notice her 13 yr old daughter is out all hours, doesn’t notice she comes in smelling of smoke. Seemingly mum is too wrapped up in her own life to pay any attention to her daughters wayward lifestyle At this stage there is no excuse, she is a promiscuous 13yr old who feels big because she is having sex with men (Vaginal, Oral, Anal, anything they want). Then as if that’s not enough out of the blue she gets a phone call from a man she has never met and knows nothing about and yet she agrees to meet him. He lies and says he is taking her to a cinema. Instead he takes her to a ‘secret’ house (having her hide on the floor of the car all the way there and back) He ‘rapes’ her and yet soon she is meeting him whenever he calls and is drinking alcohol and taking drugs. She is soon being shared amongst his ‘friends’ and even claims to have been gang raped. Yet still she keeps going back. She claims she has no choice because the man has threatened to rape her mum. Yet, she also keeps visiting the Asians at the shop and the original Asian man, none of whom it appears ever threatened her. This continues, she starts self harming and getting drunk and high on drugs and obviously must be out all hours, and her mum? Nothing, oblivious to her 14 yr old coming home drunk, smelling of sex and drugs. Great parenting. Then she gets pregnant and has to have an abortion. During this she happily lets her school friend Dean get the blame. After she is ‘forced’ to have an abortion you would think she would wake up and realise what she is doing but no she gets straight back on the bike and is soon being shared and used by the gang. Having unprotected sex and getting STD’s, drinking and taking drugs, Mum still blind! Now, after the abortion maybe, just maybe you could make an excuse for her not going back to the gang, but they had threatened to rape her mum right. Sure. And Mum, doesn’t ground her just turns a blind eye.
But explain why she goes back to the shop and not finding the original men (boyfriends 2 and 3) she is soon having sex with the new staff (her excuse is she’s doing it to protect her friend who fancies one of them) Nobody, has threatened her at the shop, yet she willingly goes with these men and has sex, including in a car with her friend also in the car with them.
The parents failed this girl, their job is to care for their child and they failed to notice her self harming, coming home drunk, going out and staying over night, never checking on her and after the abortion it just continued, the parents seemingly oblivious.
Now for the gold, she has been going to the secret house, being shared amongst the men in return for alcohol and drugs and never considered stopping. Suddenly, the idea comes up about her being a prostitute and taking cocaine. Suddenly she wakes up to the fact of where she is and what she is doing. And finally after years of excuses and blaming everybody but her self for her decisions she tells a school social worker. Finally!

She tells us about the on-going bullying she was subjected to in school & her parent’s marital problems which really affected her self-esteem. And how it got even worse after she moved to a seedy part of town with her Mum & her new partner. It was here where she caught the attention of some predatory Asian men & they had some really sickening plans for her.
While Katie’s life is both shocking & disturbing, I have to say she did a really good job on this book. It’s really unfortunate but there are cases out there where Asian men target young & vulnerable white girls & women & this book highlights it even more. I recommend this book to everyone: teenagers, adults & parents.

What an emotional read this was. I started reading it as I couldn't sleep & before I knew it I'd finished the book. Such a sad story of how an innocent young girl got sucked into believing these men loved her & how she craved their attention as she never got it at home after her parents separated. And tragic when you think that this is still happening in our country & many other young girls are being violated & used by these men as we speak.

OMG. This book is a real page turner and whilst a hard topic it was brilliant. At times I felt so angry at her decisions and thought process, but then could also understand why she thought the way she did. It was heart wrenching and at some points difficult but very, very well written. Highly recommend.

While I say nothing to diminish the violent and heinous acts perpetrated by the adults in this book, I cannot help but think that the author was a little to blame herself.
I know, that's a terrible thing to say. She was a child after all. But honestly, there was no common sense in the girl at all. And she would even go with her abuses before they started threatening her. I cannot help but draw the conclusion that, although none of this crime should ever have happened, she should have had more sense.
I suppose the writing style made me dislike the author in some way, and while I feel terrible that such things are allowed to happen in a civilized world, I also thought she got off remarkably lucky compared to what could have happened to such a naive and reckless girl.
I also thought that the writing came over as unapologetically racist.
I realize I sound dreadful in my criticism, but my opinion still stands.

Katie Taylor is stronger than she knows. To stand up to her abusers was amazing. I feel bad that she was not seen by her mother to be in trouble even when she was bullied all those years at school. That was where the abuse started. And the abuse snowballed so out of control. Even having sex at thirteen was sad. Katie just thought that's what you did in a relationship. Where would she learn that lesson? Mom and mom's boyfriend. Mom seemed really happy. Why not Katie? Thank you, Katie, for your courage. Your story has so many underlying problems. I hope you get your happily ever after!

Brave
Katie is incredibly brave for bringing these men to justice. This has nothing to do with race or Islam, it's a cultural issue and a small minority of Asian men who think of women or young girls as nothing more than their play things.
I read this book in a day, I feel this could happen to any young girl, it could have been you, me, my daughter or you're daughter. When you're a teenager you think you're worldly but you're still very much a child. I hope Katie has found the happiness she deserves and these vile men are still rotting in prison where they belong.

Lost One
This story was hard to read but harder yet was this is probably happening to other girls somewhere in the U.S. Her parents, brothers, and other associates should be extremely proud of her for having the courage to stand up and fight for justice, not only for her but others that might have been targeted also. As I said in the beginning, the story may be hard to read at times but please read it completely, do not pass judgment until you finish the very last page and I pray what she endured will never happen to another person!

Human trafficking is alive and well
This is the second book I've read about sex trafficking in Britain and I can only pray more women will get justice served if it is done to them. It's a painful story that deals a lot with how a girl with really low self esteem and family issues can be groomed and tricked into forced prostitution. I thank the author for her bravery in speaking out and her perseverance in getting some of these men behind bars where they belong.

Unbelievably brave...
How brave for this young woman to tell this story in such a frank and honest way. I think it's amazing how she takes you through her thought process at each stage; it will help those that do not understand the grooming process to better protect other children. I'm saddened that this happened to Katie and awed by her strength.

Real life problem. Katie had such a hard life going from bullying to parent breaking up to being sexually abused but would things changed if she lived with dad instead how knows?
