I read this book when it first came out. It was innovative at that time, naturally it is outdated today. Some recipes seemed a bit gimmicky (bacon and eggs in a paper bag) but the pineapple upside down cake in a Dutch oven worked great and I amazed and delighted my young charges at a children’s home when I prepared it on a backpacking trip. Yes, I packed the Dutch oven just so I could make this. Memorable book and enjoyable read.
This little book is packed with ideas for camping and cooking outdoors. While some of the suggestions are a bit dated (some things I remember doing with my girl scout troop 30 years ago), there are many things in this book that “stand the test of time.” There are lots of outdoor cooking concepts explained (many with illustrations/diagrams) and recipes included so you can try them out.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for some creative ideas for outdoor cooking.
A bit outdated (it didn't mention mummy bags, for instance), but it had lots of ideas. Most of them seemed like a lot of work to me, but some of them I liked and I'm sure other people would like others of the ideas. Only a few recipes, but lots of cooking/baking ideas & techniques. It has other camping tips, too, but my favorites were mostly the cooking ones.
Can't believe that I remembered this title either! I used to really make fun of this book as a kid. She had some crazy ideas. Don't know if I would think that they were so crazy now.
Read/skimmed this book to get some ideas for our camping trip. As the title says, it is 'a unique ideabook'. The ideas I found most helpful were the ways to cook outside.
Isinya tentang cara asyik berkemah, seru karena banyak ide-ide baru buat masak di alam terbuka (kala itu tentu saja, beberapa belas tahun yang lalu :D)
