Spanning over a century of African-American life and culture, this classic oral history celebrates one remarkable family's heritage as told through photos, reminiscences, and recipes--now back in print after six years.
My mother-in-law bought me this book the first Christmas that I married my husband. I guess she was tired of me calling her so much to ask for "instructions." It is a great book and all of the recipes have turned out well. Love the family snippets also!
What an incredible read! This book by the Darden sisters beautifully preserves their family’s legacy and collective memory. What I loved most was its unique structure—each family member’s story is told through their favorite recipes, weaving together food and personal history in such a heartfelt way.
