In the Pyrenees mountains near Carcassonne, Alice, a volunteer at an archaeological dig, stumbles into a cave and makes a startling discovery-two crumbling skeletons, strange writings on the walls, and the pattern of a labyrinth. Eight hundred years earlier, on the eve of a brutal crusade that will rip apart southern France, a young woman named Alais is given a ring and a mysterious book for safekeeping by her father. The book, he says, contains the secret of the true Grail, and the ring, inscribed with a labyrinth, will identify a guardian of the Grail. Now, as crusading armies gather outside the city walls of Carcassonne, it will take a tremendous sacrifice to keep the secret of the labyrinth safe.

Bu kitabı ilk defa lisede, halk kütüphanesinden alıp okumuştum. Yıllar sonra aklıma gelmişti araştırıp, bulmuştum. Satışı yoktu, sanattan almıştım. Kitaplıkta görünce tekrar okumak istedi canım.
Kitap 1209'daki Alais ve 2005'teki Alice'in hayatlarını paralel olarak anlatıyor. İkisi hayatları, kursak kase ve onun peşindekileri, biraz aşk, çokça ihanet(bana göre) barındırıyor kitap. Bir 1200lere gitmesi bir de günümüze, yazıldığı döneme göre günümüze, gelmesi kitabın heyecanını artırıyor bence. Ki bu tür yazılan kitapları çok seviyorum. Bir günümüze bir geçmişe gidilmesi beni kitabın bağlamından kopardı hiç. Normalde çok fazla geçmişe dönüşleri sevmesem de, bu tür kitapları seviyorum. Kitap 672 sayfa olsa da hem puntolar büyük hem de sürükleyici olduğu için hemen bitiyor. Da Vinci Şifresi'nden önce mi okumuştum hatırlamıyorum, ama biraz andırıyor. Dan Brown havası var. Ki Brown'u çok sevdiğim bu kitabı da sevmem şaşırtıcı değildi benim için.

Üzerinden çok zaman geçmiş ama aklıma kaldığı kadarıyla Da Vinci şifresine özenilmiş, onun kadar akıcı olmayan, ama okunduğuna çok da pişman etmeyen, "yaaani" denilebilecek bir kitap. Yetişkin ögeler bir tık daha fazla.
