“You can either choose to attend this academy or continue to be detained as a prisoner. Allowing you to train as a knight is probably the best choice since having a human as a Celeste is advantageous. Because of safety purposes, the gates are never opened. Current circumstance requires, however, the re-bridging of our worlds. If ever you survive and graduate from the academy, you’ll be a representative—the ambassador of humankind. Quite a fancy title, don’t you think?”
Pandora’s box has opened and hell has broken loose. Unfortunately for Valeriana Kerrigan, she had the front seat at the cutting of the ribbon. Now, she’s deep in cow dung—or rather, under the claws of a demon. Fortunately, she is saved by the skin of her throat by a sword-wielding woman who claims to be from another world. And that’s just the appetizer.
For the entrée, apparently, is entering Pandora’s box itself—which she later finds out is called Valemnia. With Earth potentially being involved in Valemnia’s pesky pest problem, Valeriana is unable to take a neutral stance. Leaving the busy streets of modern-day Boston, albeit unwillingly, she takes a plunge to brave a whole new world in the most literal sense—one which mirrors hers with a dash of surrealism, beasts, demons, and even locals who wield the elements like second nature.
Despite the minor setbacks (and being human), she is confronted by a path she cannot hope to never take: pick up arms, survive eight years in an academy as a knight-in-training, and help push back the demons plaguing Valemnia. However, to do so, she may just have to let go of her humanity.
Follow Valeriana through the magic-filled halls of Celeste Academy. Grab your copy of this adventure-packed fantasy now!
The story was amazing! The beginning was a bit slow, but after I got into the story, it gets very interesting. Especially at the end, I'm really eager to read the second book.
Holy shiznits ... I just blasted through all parts of the series in 2 days. Now I am impatiently waiting for the next chapter of Cosmos (part 5). How did this happen?!
Of course there are some flaws in the stories, but nothing to major. Language is very well selected, could be tweeked at one point or another. Keep in mind that all other parts of this series is not published, but still undergoing editing! Storytelling and world-building are great! Wonderful characters and great humour throughout the story. Some sentences are in the original language, should the other parts go into print (which I hope), a glossary at the end of the book would be nice to have.
The only reason I am giving this book o because of the grammatical errors. But considering that a 14 YEAR OLD wrote it, the grammatical errors were insignificant. I loved this book. LOVED, LOVED, LOVED IT. Knight is a must-read. Great plot and story in general. Valeriana is very relatable and characters make are lovable and quirky. And the tense relationship between Corvan and her, I ate it all up.
Congratulations to Lovely! It's good to hear your book will be published and personally, I screamed out of excitement when I heard the news. Knight is one of the book that I subscribed in Wattpad but I don't read it until Lovely wrote the fourth book which is Warsong. It's the best decision I ever did when I clicked the "Read" button.
Just want to say there is hella lot of spoilers when you read this. For your sanity, don't read it.
I personally love the Celeste Academy series and I'm a totally sucker to Fantasy type books. Celeste Academy series shows so many interesting things like adventures, a really accurate fighting scene, the characters awesomeness, comedy in the time of distress, romance which I'm not totally rooting for but Corvan and Valeriana are just too cute, you know?! Anyway, this series also have a good depth of humans chaotic feelings or Valemnians, whichever you choose, and Lovely always come up with a chilling quotes that feels like it slaps at your face because of the sheer amazement. She is a brilliant author and for me, she portrays her character well without changing them even when the book evolves. Don't let me start with the cliffhangers. I think she really likes it when she strands us, helpless, not knowing what happened in the next story.
She describes all the characteristics of Valemnia acutely like you are actually there. The history of Valemnia, the names of the characters which are unique (you have to agree with me this is the truth) the romance which is not a rush and the way she builds the relationship between the main characters are brilliant although you will feel frustrated when you read it and not to mention, the fighting scene! This one is my favorite among the books. I can imagine it clearly when I read it since she always write the details accurately that it's not a problem to imagine it.
I've so many things to say but what I really want to say is, I recommend people to read this book. This book is not your typical Fantasy books and this book will give you a hell lot of ride with so many twisting plots. Expect a roller coaster ride when you pick up this book!
Besides a few weirdly worded sentences and way to formal conversations between strangers (Which I guess made sense in the end given who the conversion was with and the world they were in and it did get better or maybe I got used to it...) I enjoyed this story a lot.
The main character was tough although a little annoying at times but I mean I get it she was kinda kidnapped but still suck it up haha she was also pretty smart and didn't really do anything dumb which was a relief. Corvan and Vals bickering was real entertaining and what the king said about the two of them to Val had me nearly crying of laughter, that whole visit was epic. I enjoyed all the supoorting characters especially Seraphina she was badass and the king I liked him from what he was in, I'd love to see more of him though. There was one dude who really got on my nerves and was a creep, honestly the way he was a complete asshat dueling her but then started being all stalkery and shit like no dude back off you're not her type get that into your head. The peeps who've read this will know who I'm talking about.
There wasn't really any romance but you could tell that was being set up between maybe a few people but definitely one pair. It was more about Val figuring out how to survive in this new world and find out more about herself.
Lots of action and friendship. Learning about the lore/ history was interesting too.
I wonder how her family's doing haha.
Interested to see where this next book goes and what happens next between the twelve and Val!!
Maybe a SPOILER coming up but not really. Her friend chavi made me suspicious towards the end though!
Revised Rating for 25/6/25 Reread: 2.5 stars Original Rating for April 2019 Read: 5 stars
2 of these stars are for Corvan and Corvan alone. The last half is for the rest of the 12.
This book was slow to start and riddled with grammatical errors and clunky writing. I pushed through because I used to love the characters and it would appear I still do.
Original review: [Read this series up to the first 20 chapters of Chevalier in 2019, and loved it. Previously I had read it for the first time until, I belive, the end of Cosmos (before the rest were written).]
I had this book on my shelves for a year before I finally got time to start reading it. Over the course of the book you can see Raquel grow as a writer. To those who have said the book is slow in the beginning, I say that that is part of its charm. It shows how much dedication and effort the author put into it. She was slowly getting into the feel of writing, experimenting with words and expressions, and learning what goes and what does not. There are several people out there who give up in the middle, saying their works are not good enough to compete with the great ones. But Raquel has shown that Noone starts out with a perfect manuscript. It all begins with a few crappy words on a rough sheet of paper. As a wannabe writer, I know how hard it is to put pen to paper and just let your words flow. Raquel has done an amazing job with her CA series. Who knows? Its going to be the next Harry Potter. Her writing is perky and fun and keeps the readers in stitches. I absolutely love her characters. They are so finished and whole, not just words on paper, but real people we can relate to. And that is one heck of an achievement. This review is not just about Knight but the whole CA series. I really recommend reading this book. It's just on a whole new level. Valerian's sassy attitude, Lord Aeron and his schemes, Corvan and his pride, Tamara's mischievous temperament, are just a few traits that make her characters unique. Each one of them has a backstory that made them who they are. I love how Lord Aeron sneaks bit of wisdom into his light hearted words and how Valeriana comes off as more stupid than she actually is. Corvan hiding his younger self in a mask of superiority is just another one of the million things that I love about the book. Books like this deserve to get noticed. These books are the reason reading is so enjoyable.
I love how the author percepts about reality and life in this high fantasy book. The romance is realistic, it's neither slow nor fast. Love the CorVal couple shipping.
The world created by R.A Gil is a world that I can’t leave now that I’ve been introduced to it. I’ve followed the progress of this book since the first chapters published on Wattpad and continue to support it as much as I can now because it is one of the best reads of my life. The characters are amazingly well described and with personalities as creative as can be, the character progress and evolution throughout the books is executed flawlessly and pulls you in to feel like they have become part of your life because you know them so well. The story is new and exciting, with a mix of magic, adventure and a strong female lead that is sarcastic, funny, strong and resilient. I believe you should invest in this book because I can’t wait for the rest of it to be published because the hard work that goes into this series is evident in the dedication to publish a new chapter every week on Wattpad while having a million other things to attend to. It’s an easy and fun read for anybody and there are now six full sequels to read on Wattpad because honestly we all need more CorVal. Thank you to the author for creating a world I simply always escape to whenever I’m feeling down, I wish you all the success in the world. (MAKE THIS A TV SERIES YOU HEAR ME AMAZON (AND CAST ME ) )
This was a book I couldn't keep down even if I wanted to. I first discovered this book on Wattpad and couldn't take a break from it. The starting is a bit slow and honestly I was surprised to see a slow start after seeing such an amazing cover and summary. But trust me bear with first few chapters. And then the book takes of with speed of light. I just love Corvan and Valeriana and their bantering 😍 just waiting for them to get together. I even love the subtle strength of Valeriana and how she tries to fend for herself in this unknown world. I have read all the books in the series and each is just as amazing as the other.Currently desperately waiting for updates to cosmos.
The story was actually quite good. The main problems with this book were more in the way it was written, feeling more like a rough draft. It quite often happened that some sentences were missing making the plot jumping from one point to the other without making any sense. It definitely needs some extra editing. Besides that, I think the characters could be maked more believable and some extra explaining about how the world/s work wouldn't hurt.
The imitation of white mediocrity by authors of color for the sake of experiences their profits is a path I will support, but not when it's at the expense of other minorities.
I would be doing an injustice if I didn't address the racism within the story first. In the world of Valemnia, black hair is the mark of a demon, while blonde hair and blue eye have positive traits associated with them, like wisdom and loyalty. I assume this is to explain the glaring amount of blonde, pale characters in this story, though it achieves the opposite effect. Instead of being an aspect of world building, it looks like Gil is trying to make her characters of color as whitewashed as she possibly can, her treatment of the story's love interest Corvan as an example. He's written as a dark skinned man from a continent that we can infer is inspired by the SWANASA region. But the author has him in both his character art on her website and on another version of the cover as a pale man, even paler than the Caucasian protagonist Valeriana.
Corvan is not the only character of color that's handling is questionable. Raziel is a male side character and during his introduction, instead of plainly stating he was handsome, called him "strangely exotic." I don't believe I should have to explain why describing him as exotic is terrible. It also doesn't even make sense for Valeriana to describe him as such. She is supposed to have been born and raised in Boston, which has a diverse population.
Another victim of poor writing is Tamara Silver. Tamara is, from both her descriptions and art from the comic adaption, a black woman. She is brazen, sassy, there to help the white protagonist, et cetera. Her existence also displays the author's difficulty presenting a female character as a strong woman. It feels as if the only way she can show a woman's strength is by making them reject femininity, or at the very least traditional femininity. That is until she writes them in a position where a man is involved. This is something shared between almost every female character and only isn't present when the female character is in a submissive role, like her aid or Valeriana's school friend.
But taking a step back from the characters, the worldbuilding is nonsense. Gil dedicates pages upon pages to it, and yet it is meaningless because she doesn't explain the things that matter. The noble hierarchy falls apart because of the sheer size of the kingdom, which could've been easily fixed by changing the title of King to Emperor. The level of advancements in the world also makes no sense. The armies are trained in swords and bows, yet we see from one character in the cast that they can and have made god damn Webley-Fosberys. The story attempts to have a 5th - 6th century European setting, but the mentions of Rococo art and architecture and 16th century Spanish clothing make it impossible to imagine it as such.
The characters, their interactions, personalities, and motivations are all weak and one dimensional. The protagonist is the most annoying, self-centered, ignorant, and stupid character I have ever read. She blatantly wants this world to bend to her will, and on the few times it doesn't, she pouts and stomps her foot. That is not an exaggeration either, she does do exactly that when she asks for slavery and finds out that she would be signing away any rights for a lifetime of enslavement and not just working as a servant for a couple of months. She yells at anyone who slightly inconveniences, she ignores all consequences of her actions, any humor or pop culture references the author makes through her are embarrassing to read. She's ignorant, she's entitled, and she's a pain to read about. I shouldn't have been as surprised as I was to find out she colonized islands and forced the populace to aid in her war efforts.
It is frightening how much support this series has garnered. I long to the option of putting zero stars, this story does not deserve it. A terrible story from a terrible author.
I really liked this book except for two things. it desperately needs an editor. there were words missing completely, grammar errors, spelling errors, etc. the second thing is the dialogue of the teenagers seems forced a lot of the time. it seems like it was written the way an adult thinks teens talk.
While the story is very entertaining and I started up late to finish it, this book needs an editor badly, honestly it read like it was a translation of itself. Still, I will be reading the second book when it is released.
So to be very honest, I love the Celeste Academy's series, and it's all because of Knight -it is the first book. There's not much that I can relate with the characters as we are totally different people, but that doesn't stop me from loving them. The author wrote beautifully, I felt as if I was Valeriana -how much I wanted it to be real. There's not much romance, but it's still present. And since it's a lengthy book, nothing felt rushed. There was already adventure and fighting at the beginnings to hook me in.
I read Knight when it was already completed and Legend was written. At first I wanted to wait for Legend to complete so that I could read it both in one go, but there weren't just 2 books, there were more! Knight has it owns agenda, and it finished within it's own -and a new one emerge as it ends. So it kept me and the other readers wanting more. It has a lot of characters with their own personality and it amazes me how the author manage to keep them within character and explain everything in detail perfectly.
A spoiler review is after this line, proceed with caution. -------------
So, for me, I thought it was a little unrealistic for Valeriana to be able to defeat Courtney. But then, Courtney did lose control of her emotions, and I very well know how bad that is. I love the interaction between Corvan and Val, eventhough I wasn't hoping for romance much in the series, I knew that they would be somehow in love deep down the road. Unlike some other stories, they just build the romance very quickly and made everything into a big fireworks and butterflies. So I very much appreaciate that the relationship wasn't rushed.
I have nothing against the Twelve but ugh -I hated it when they treated her like a servant! But then they make it up for it and I loved them again. I love their interaction and felt that you conveyed they friendship beautifully. They are looked up and everyone thought highly of them, but they are also normal people with normal interactions.
I am a silent reader, sorry about that. I like it better to read the series after it is completed -big sucks for me since you still have 2 more to be written. But I just can't hold my curiosity back so everytime a book is completed, I would reread from Knight and make my way through the other books then.
Everytime I reread Knight, there would always be new revelations, and more emotions.
Last words after this line, proceed with caution. --------------
I suggest everyone to read the series, you can read it through wattpad for free -4 books are already complete. For the 5th and 6th, you can read Cosmos at the website. The 6th is yet to be written. I personally do not regret subscribing to the tiers :)
I totally love the concept of this book. It's one of those reads that could take the reader places allowing them to surrender themselves and be taken on a journey to another realm.
The characters are well written in parts and are relatable, some likeable some not. There are some scenes written in great detail that you need to stop and breath as its so intense.
Valeriana bundles into the world of demons and Valemnians by accident only to be abducted by the latter simply because she should not be able to see demons. She is forced to go to college in another world, well it's that or the threat of slavery. Will she stay the course knowing that there are dangers ahead?
Sadly, something I disliked about Valeriana's character is the cussing that came out of her mouth when there was no need for it. She of course had every right to be angry and frustrated given her situation and she of course is at that age where it's the norm to be obstinate. Sometimes it's like bad cuss lines from a BAD movie have been thrown in just to make her sound tough (she didn't). Also I get that the authors first language may not be English but it's like someone used Google translate for the translation. There are many many sentences/paragraphs that I needed to read again to fully grasp the meaning. I persevered because I loved the concept. I am giving four stars based on that.
This is one of the best books that I have ever read. Every once in a while when I’m waiting for you to update your current book, COSMOS, I would go back to this book and reread the entire series again. And this book without fail has always sucked me back in the wonderful world that you created. I have grown to love every single one of your characters, even the antagonists! I just wanted to say that this book, and the rest of your series are one of the best books I have ever read. I have recommended this book to every single one of my friends. When this book comes out on physical copy, I’m going to buy it and use it for a project that I have planned, and lend it to the friends that haven’t been able to read it because it was only available online. Thank you so much for having this wonderful imagination that came up with this world.

Knight is about a girl, named Valeriana, who just graduated and goes out searching for a job, but finds so much more than that. She accidentally comes across a world hidden from the “human” world, and this discovery leads to an adventure of a lifetime. The author captures your attention by making the main character very relatable. Instead of the typical buff, strong, and perfect hero, Valeriana is clumsy, out-of-shape, hotheaded citizen who stumbles into heroism. Valeriana is constantly in a battle with herself; she's trying to do her best, but it doesn't seem to be enough. This is one of the many extraordinary ways the author develops her character. I recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy, thrilling adventures, and a main character who is not willing to back down to anyone.
Knight has been one of my favorites (ever since I started reading in wattpad).
Though the realm is very much different from ours, still there are instances that the characters and the events give me the feels. It was hard to put down the e-book and some times it was an agony to wait for updates because you cannot get enough of it. Really happy that it will finally get a paperback.
I won't be posting spoilers, so just find out and join in the adventure yourself. If you are looking for some fantasy-adventure with action, comedy and romance to boot, then this one is definitely for you.
In my honest opinion, I don't think there is a rating high enough for me to give... So I had to settle for 5 stars. There is so much to praise about this book, yeah there might be some typos and grammatical errors, but that's the best part because even with those there the story draws you in and you can't help but to see a certain beauty behind it. Raquel truly captures the "magic" behind words... even if they may be from another world. (;
The characters are well written and I really enjoyed all the challenges and twists and turns. There were a couple threads that got started but didn't go anywhere. I guess so you'll read the next book, but as of today Jan 2018 , there isn't a sequel. Maybe someday all the questions will be answered in another book. Looking forward to it, but until its completed I remain disappointed.
I just started this book out of curiosity and now I'm hooked. The character development is awe-mazing and not forgetting crazy beautiful characters. I love how the story between Val and Corvan takes time, slow and steady✨ ... The storyline is strong and not messy though there are some grammar mess which is fine by me 💕
so for those who are contemplating whether to read or not.. what the hell you waiting GO FOR IT! you won't regret it ❤
Knight is one of the greatest books I have ever read. It was the very first book that showed me that there are great books out there. Books that are well-written, with great and intriguing plots and amazing characters. This book is definitely a must-read for fantasy lovers. It's a story that will certainly leave you wanting for more.
This book is amazing, even though I had read it already in Wattpad and still waiting for the next chapter of the fifth book cosmos, it was nice reading it again with the bonus chapters, but I’m still waiting to learn more about the demon borns. Also looking forward to learn more about valeriannas purity powers.

I read this in wattpad along with all the subsequent books and I can say that this is my fourth reading and it is as good as ever and would recommend to anyone! It has all the magic the trials the fighting and mystery you could ever ask for and more. Anyone who finishes this book should know that they are in for a heck of a lot more fun as the next ones come out! Enjoy.
The book will take you on a journey. I usually lose track of time when I read stories written by MyLovelyWriter. I only started reading her works late last year. If you want a story which will entertain you and transport you in a new world, then this is it.
