My introduction to Warhammer 40,000. Like many others I picked up Space Marines but unlike many others I still love them and play them.
The good points about this book is how it is absolutely packed with information. About the game, rules, hobby tips and background information on the Empire of man.
As far as the actual rules I found them to be a vast improvement on 2ed but they had flaws that in the coming years had to be patched and in the early 2000 this meant picking up printed supplements. not ideal in any time.
My copy is now read so much its falling apart (another flaw is the glued spine of this paperback edition.) but ill always love it despite getting me into a hobby whose cost is about a mortgage.

A outdated but still entertaining rulebook for Warhammer 40k 3rd edition. A bit of a nostaglia kick for me, as a child I briefly dabbled in this edition.

There is plenty of interesting lore and army lists for each of the factions. There are plenty of lovely colour photos showing the models in their full glory.

Overall, a terrific rulebook, but definitely more useful as a Nostalgia trip then a rulebook as it is twenty years old.

Good introduction to the game and the lore for its time but the book quickly needed patching as 3ed progressed and the rules changed.
