I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Love, love, love this cover! I also loved this short story! There was a lot of mystery to it and I was left craving answers but never got them.hopefully the next book will be full length because I got to the end much too quickly and I didn't want it to be over. It wasn't even a cliff hanger, the book just stopped abruptly, and right when it was getting good. I did enjoy how we got the story from the two main characters POV's so we didn't miss out on anything.
I found both Lark and Raven to be intriguing characters and I can't wait to learn how their stories will entwine with each other. I want to know what happened to Lark. Does Raven know? Does Raven pretend to be Lark or vies versa? There are so many possibilities and I can't wait to find out.
Another awesome read by Sophie Davis and despite blind barriers being short it packed a punch?I can't wait for the next instalment. Contemporary readers will love this novella also those who enjoy a great mystery read.

Audiobook Review: Fragile Facade (Blind Barriers Trilogy #1) by Sophie Davis (Author), Sarah Puckett (Narrator)

Sophie Davis masters the psychological thriller. Darkness becomes your best friend, even as it remains your worst enemy. The chill lies in the unknown and Fragile Facade feeds on that uncertainty and never let's go. Raven stumbles into that blank space to help a stranger and may not survive the fall. Haunting nail biter.

This is definitely an intriguing story. There's so much mystery and subterfuge that I'm not sure where it all is leading.

It's such a short piece you can't really determine exactly what the book is. This serial cut off before any true plot development or conflict could arise, or even be tended to. It was very much what a prologue and first couple chapters of a novel would be. That very preliminary introduction of characters and background information. It was..teresting to switch between Lark and Raven's POV, especially after we already know that something has happened to Lark in Raven's time stream, and will or is about to in Lark's. The question is WHAT?

What we know:
-Raven is new to New York, just 18-years-old and trying to live on her own
-Lark is the daughter of a prominent family and recently went missing
-Raven finds her journal and feels a kinship
-Lark had been planning something (did it have to do with Blake? The Pines?)

all other details are obscured by vaguity. Not sure how I feel about that. Maybe it would be different in a longer piece; if these serials were all stringed together.

Despite the brevity of the piece, Sophie's writing comes shining through and captivating the entire time. She uses a variety of pop-culture references to develop the personalities and environment that these teens exist in.

"Blind Barriers" by Sophie Davis is a dark and mysterious tale. Starting with a short plea for help by Lark, a missing young girl who now apparently is in an unspecified place, maybe captivity or limbo, we just don't know.
Intrigued and puzzled we are left with our wondering about Lark while the author introduces Raven, another young girl who has newly arrived in Washington D.C. and is subletting an apartment in the city. While Raven makes new friends and acquaintances she is tempted by a diary she finds in the flat.
In a new narrative we now learn about the missing girl Lark and her life before she disappears.
This is the first volume or part of the series and leaves much open for the second instalment.
Davis has managed to subtly build up huge suspense that runs through every page and makes us want to find out more about Lark and why she disappeared.
My mind went into overdrive where the story will be going, examining every character as suspect, but I feel that there is much more to come and this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Much of the book is setting up the characters and their lives which will allow for the plot to take many possible directions.
I am left intrigued and wanting more. An excellent start to the series.

I am extremely happy that I got a copy of this book!

It's different from what I usually read, it's mysterious, uncanny, and it grips you so tightly! I know I'm hooked until I find out what the last words says at the end of this trilogy!

The story is told in different ways, by our two main characters, and by journal entries. One of the main characters is Raven, a girl who has recently moved away from home to start a new life. She finds an apartment and is warmly welcomed by her handsome neighbour, Asher. She spends much time with him eventually, and she appreciates his friendship. She meets nice strangers along the way and great restaurants, but what she doesn't expect is to find the diary of the missing Diamond heiress, in her second-hand car.

Lark Kingsley has everything a girl will ever want, fame, money, dresses, make-up, friends, basically she lives an easy life. But that's what she wants people to see, the world, her friends, and even to her parents, she puts up this facade and pretends to be happy. Why? She no longer feels appreciated by anyone, she feels fake. Especially since, to her parents eyes, she can be seen as a disappointment.
But strange things have been happening around her, she can't remember what she does the night before, and it become clear she may have someone watching her.

Then, she disappears entirely. No one knows what happened. The case is left cold. There are no clues to even remotely guessed what happened to Lark.
But, Raven, as found her diary. Lark leaves small clues and Raven is determined to help find this girl. But as Raven moves deeper into this mysterious case, will she find answers, or is she becoming a target herself ?

As the story progresses we see glimpses of what Lark's life was like before her disappearance. As readers we are effectively drawn in so well to the story that our eyes are peeled until the very end.
At least for me that's what happened. I just had to read this book in one setting. I needed to know how Raven's search was going and what was happening to Lark immediately!

Although, just a warning that not all our questions and suspicions are answered by the end of this book! Nope, we just have to wait and see what comes next, but honestly, I reckon it's worth the wait! There is so much mystery in these characters, especially Lark and her motives for acting so strangely. But also the secrets she's hiding. I honestly cannot wait to see how much further this story will go! So excited!

If you enjoy suspense and mysteries to be solved, then this book is for you! Definitely worth picking up.
Though I warn you not to pick this book up before going to bed, because it is very likely you will not sleep that night until you have devoured this book entirely!

Received a copy from the authors themselves, in exchange for an honest reivew, thank you!

Audio Review:
Fragile Facade is a mystery, a enticing narative with a writing style that creates distinctly crafted characters & draws a vivid picture. Clues, mystery, & secrets intricately weaved throughout the narrative to create a suspenseful listen.Going between past and present timelines with well detailed world building descriptions & settings. With a set infrastructure that leads into this psychological thriller. We are left with more questions than answers in the end. This ends with a oh my stars and garters cliffhanger. Looking forward to listening to book two in this triology. I absolutely love the twist at the end.

Sarah Puckett is a professional narrator/storyteller whose flawless performance accentuates the characters. Everything flows through smoothly at the right pace & tones. Character's are given their own voice.

I couldn't find the correct edition, but I read the kindle edition

I absolutely, without a doubt, LOVED this book!!! On some level, I liked it a little more than the Talented books (shh, don't tell Talia or Eric). Of course you can't really compare the two series, because Talented is a paranormal (right?) Dystopian Romance, and The Blind Barriers series is a mystery/thriller/romance. I am glad that this series took different direction from Talented, it really shows the ability and talent that the author has. Sometimes it's tough to stray from what you know works and what you know is good, but if you never take the chance you won't know what you're capable of.....ok now I'm done rambling. As soon as I began this book, I was sucked in. You are introduced to someone named Lark Kingsley, who is pleading for someone, specifically a "her" to find her. You also meet Raven Ferragamo, who upon moving on her own to D.C., stumbles on all these clues that pertain to Lark's disappearance. I haven't read many mystery novels, but this book is what I would consider a great mystery novel. What is unique about this book is that each chapter switches back and forth between Lark and Raven. When you read Raven's point of view, you get a chance to see all the clues that Lark has left for Raven in order to help find her. Then, the chapters about Lark, are about her life before her disappearance. BUT, it doesn't end there. There are certain chapters, like the first, that are different from Lark's "before" chapters. I think those chapters are about the current Lark.

I loved how those chapters were more disjointed and I couldn't tell if Lark was going insane or not. I also loved that you weren't given any indication about where she was, but knew that she was somewhere. The transitions were very smooth and I was able to remember the events from each person, even though the chapters flip flopped between the two girls. I really liked the different worlds that were thrown together, i.e., Lark's world of being an upper east side heiress and Raven's world of being on her own. You definitely gain an understanding thru these two characters that having a lot of money and power isn't what it's cracked up to be (you'll figure that out when you read about Lark's life).

Now the boy's. Sophie again works her magic with her male characters. You meet Blake Greyfield, who is a part of Lark Kingsley's life and Asher (no last name?), who is a part of Raven Ferragamo's life. The parts when Lark and Blake are together are absolutely beautiful. I really don't want to reveal too much about it, but just think of those moments when you see that one person and they give you butterflies, THAT'S what it's like when you read about Blake and Lark. Unfortunately, you don't get too much of that with Asher and Raven.. insert sad face here. You at least get that there is chemistry between the two of them (crossing my fingers that something actually happens between them in the next book). There were so many moments that took my breath away (haha a cliche!), twists and turns that every mystery novel should have, and moments of what the..... oh and that ending!!! That was very cruel Sophie...soo very cruel. If you'd like to know what exactly I'm referring to, I'm not saying a word, except to of course say that I highly recommend this book if you're a fan of Sophie Davis books, but also if you like mystery/thriller/romance novels, then get this book!!!!

Sophie Davis has done it again!! I loved (loved loved loved) the Talented Saga, and LOVED Pawn... and now I LOVE (!!!) Blind Barriers! This book is written from the points of view of two different characters who live in completely different "worlds". Each chapter is about 1 girl. Raven is trying to make it on her own in a new place, and Lark is a rich girl that hides who she really is from her friends and family. Their worlds collide in an unexpected way... Lark needs Raven to find out what happened to her! She's mysteriously disappeared and her disappearance has been making the headlines. The author wrote each character as if she personally knew them both, each one has a completely different way of speaking/thinking, and each has their own personality. Ugh... and the ending!! Talk about a cliffhanger!! At least we don't have to wait too long for the next one! I highly recommend this book for a short read that leaves you wanting much more!

From page one Blind Barriers is a gripping read. Raven, a girl who just graduated high school, finds the journal of a missing Jewelry Heiress. The journal reveals a Romeo and Juliet style romance, and clues beyond compare. The heiress leaves clues around under an assumed name renting a apartment, a train station locker, as well as other places. Seems the heiress was paranoid, for good reasons too because whatever secrets she has Raven uncovering, are secrets she was kidnapped for.

I loves reading every sentence of this book. The cliffhanger at the end of each volume makes me want to keep reading. I'm on the edge of my couch, wondering what's going to happen next.

I received this book through Goodreads first reads.

I received a copy from the author for an honest review.
This is a nice tease to an upcoming series. The story starts with Raven moving to a new town to start a new beginning. As she is pulling items from her trunk, she discovers a diary. Let’s throw in the sexy neighbor Asher who makes her feel welcome and wants to show her around.
The story as well gives us a little background on Lark who is missing but gives us the back story of how she meets and falls for the forbidden Blake whom most would consider outside of her class. Raven has discovered something about Lark and decides to investigate bringing us to what kind of connection the two will have with each other.

I received a free copy of this book from the author, and cannot believe how good it is. I didn't have time to read it when it arrived in the mail and only began it yesterday. I read the entire book in just under 2 days.

The way the chapters alternate points of view really made the pages keep turning. I would reach the end of one chapter sad to leave the point of view of Lark because I wanted to know what happened next. But by the time I'd reached the end of Raven's chapter, I'd be sad to leave her as well. The characters are so three dimensional that I really did feel like I was going on this adventure with them.

I can't wait to read more from this series and this author.

Ok so first of, I loved it. Once again Sophie Davis does not disappoint.
But who ends a book like this??? Seriously, that was kind of ... well mean. Especially since my Kindle read I still had 40 mins....
Guess that just shows that I will eagerly wait for second book.
So enough about this though, I love the Storyline. It was actually unique, for me.
Very well written with just the right touch of mystery.
Thank you Sophie, for letting me read your book.
I'm definitely looking forward to more.

The Blind Barriers series is beyond strange but in a great, really fascinating and intriguing way. I like the style of writing, told from the point of view of Raven and then Lark. There is a mystery going on that I cannot figure out and that, to me, is an indication of a great story. The author shows incredible imagination! I really like this series and I cannot wait until the next book comes out. I need to know where this story is going to take Lark and Raven. I also need to find out what the mystery is.

I love this author, and her other books, so was really looking forward to reading this trilogy.
I was not disappointed!

This book introduces us to Lark who has led a very privileged life. But that life doesn't turn out quite how she expected when she goes missing. What has happened to her? Has someone taken her? If so, where and why?

We also meet Raven. Her life couldn't be more different to that of Lark, but their lives are about to become inextricably linked.

There are so many twists and turns this was a brilliant read for me. I can't wait to read more.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! I couldn't even put it down so I finished within a day. A little slow and confusing to start, but it quickly became a mystery that wasn't as easy to figure out as you'd think. There were a couple spelling and grammar mistakes but nothing distracting. Some parts were also a bit hard to follow as the book flips between characters and timelines. Overall was a great book though and meaningful plot. Ending was definitely a cliff-hanger (but a good one!) and I can't wait to see what happens next!

Sophie Davis has done it again!

Blind Barriers drew me in from the first chapter until the ending. It's the story of a girl that dreams of moving to the big city and has set out to make that happen. Once she gets there, she finds a newspaper clipping of a girl that has gone missing. The events that take place next are just enough to leave you begging for more!

5 out of 5 stars, Ms. Sophie Davis, for grabbing my attention and not letting go until the very end.

The first book in the Blind Barriers serial series definitely left me wanting more with it's abrupt ending. Lark is the typical rich teenage girl, while Raven moves to D.C. to start a new life. But Lark's odd disappearance sparks Raven's curiosity, and the hunt begins... I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read #2...

This book is eerie and strange. The writing is good. The tone is creepy and kind of sad. The pacing is fast. Lark and Raven are connected somehow. Blind Barriers is the first serial that introduces Lark and Raven. Lark is in trouble. Raven finds Lark's journal. This book was told in dual first person POV. 4 stars.

I received this book for review from audiobook boom.

Let me just start out with this - I did not know this was a trilogy with cliffhangers!

Ok moving on. I really enjoyed the writing style. It was well done, elegantly stated, and I really felt like I understood the characters and their world.

I enjoyed the audiobook narration with the intonations that differed between our two main characters. I enjoyed the narration voice and would definitely listen to more audiobooks from this narrator. Her tone of voice, pacing, and speaking style were very pleasant and I truly appreciate a good narration.

I liked how the plot flipped back and forth between the two girls showing just a piece of their world and leading to the next point in the timeline for our clue hunter. The disappeared girl, well her timeline jumped around a lot and I'm quite a bit concerned about what's happening to her.

So let me get back to what I am not fond of in this book, and what affected the rating. It feels like the book was just getting started. That it was all set up to go great places when it just ends. I can't with that.

Raven took so long to figure out any of the clues, and I'm thankful for her neighbor and possibly boy interest who pushed her in the right direction and helped figure it out. Raven was starting to disappoint me.

Lark I really liked, she wasn't a pretentious heiress, but was hiding some real depth of character and started doing a bit of sleuthing on her own. But we don't know what happened. We only know she's in trouble, and she expected to be in trouble, which is why she set up this puzzle for Raven.

Why Raven? I don't know either.  Will Raven find Lark and solve the puzzle? I sure hope so!

But like I said just as it was getting good, the book stops. And I want to KNOWWWWW what happens NEXTTTTTT someone please get me the next book!

⎯» Rating: 3 Stars
⎯» Genre: Mystery-Suspense
⎯» POV: Dual—First Person

“Our roles have become reversed, she and I. She is the understudy I never knew existed, now destined to inherit my spotlight. I’ve written the script, handed it over, and will do my best to direct the show. All I ask is that she read the lines, improvise where necessary, and commit fully. I just hope she understands.

She must understand.”

This started off slow, but drew my interest towards the end. I really didn’t feel connected to the characters, but I am invested in the mystery of Lark’s disappearance.

There’s no point reading this book if you aren’t prepared to read the next two, as there’s no resolution to any of the mysteries that fill the pages. As soon as you think you’ll finally have some answers, you end up with more questions.

“Do you want to know the truth? Or would you rather keep on the blinders?”

This is the third series of Sophie's that I have started and it did not disappoint. I had this in my TBR list for a while, therefore I had forgotten the synopsis, and I had SO much fun trying to tell where on earth this story was going. Lark's mysterious disappearance is all you can think about during this addictive read. You will question every character's motive while your imagination goes crazy.

We have Lark's current POV, Lark's past POV, and Raven's POV. All were written perfectly, and I really loved following two love stories. Blake and Asher are hunks, and I am so nervous to continue reading in case any of my "who did it" paranoias come true! Anyways, I found all of the characters to be complex, and I was able to connect with both Raven and Lark--something I wouldn't have thought possible considering how different their backgrounds are.

I still don't know where Lark's story is going, but I am so excited to have started the next in series. I will warn you, the ending in this one IS a cliffy, but it is amazing. My mouth was hanging open when I finished.

You will be seriously missing out if you don't go for this one. I also highly recommend Sophie's other books if you haven't read them yet.

I received a copy and volunteered to review it.

Raven stumbles upon a missing girl and a mystery when she agrees to move into an apartment while the original person is traveling abroad. She discovers that the girl's disappearance may have been darker than anybody realizes. The more she searches the clues the further involved she gets.

I loved this book. The further into it I read the more I wanted to. I loved the fact that this story was told in both perspectives. It added mystery and intrigue to the story. I am totally hooked on the characters and need to be all about their lives more right now! I couldn't get enough. I have too many questions that need answers.

Normally, I'd go on about the things I didn't like. However, I loved everything about it. So, I'll just take the time to gush over the narrator. This is not the first book I've heard Sarah Puckett narrate. Oh my goodness is she talented! She brings the characters to life of all the stories she narrates! I fully recommend her!

This book was amazing, but it's got a cliff hanger. I fully recommend having the second book handy to delve right into. I wish I had it so I could just start immediately on it. I will find a way to get my hands on it and devour it! This has been an amazing book and I'm glad I read it!
