Navigate the chaos of information overload and supercharge your efficiency with Lean Learning, a groundbreaking guide that reveals a counterintuitive approach to winning by learning less.
From an early age, we’re taught that more is better. More money, more information, more skills. But times have changed. What was once valuable has now become a burden, and if information alone were the answer, we’d all be exactly where we want.
In today’s fast-moving world, the difference between success and failure is not in what you know but in what you do with what you know. Lean Learning equips you with the tools to do just that, propelling you towards your goals with greater efficiency, purpose, and results.
Pat Flynn, a seasoned and serial entrepreneur and business mentor to millions, draws on his own experiences and of those who have successfully implemented his techniques. Lean Learning isn’t just about absorbing information efficiently—it’s about reshaping your approach to knowledge altogether.
This book teaches you how to identify what’s essential for your growth and eliminate all the distractions that tend to bog you down.
Lean Learning stands out in a crowded productivity space by focusing not just on “working smarter” but on revolutionizing the way we absorb, process, and use information every single day. It’s a perfect read for entrepreneurs, professionals, and lifelong learners who are ready to cut through the chaos and start making real progress.
Backed by Flynn’s extensive entrepreneurial success real-life case studies, Lean Learning offers a transformative approach to mastering any skill and achieving more with less. It is a perfect reading companion for fans of Great at Work, Digital Minimalism, and Building a Second Brain.

I initially picked this book up because I thought it said "Learn" Learning as the title. It just proves that I'm an information junkie lol
Finally a book that I can relate this side of me - I love to horde information, knowledge, and sometimes if not most of the time it doesn't turn into wisdom, and often gets unused and just ends up being discarded. It is better to attain mastery (through micro masteries which is also covered in this book) on a certain topic.
In this day and age we don't even value the 'know-it all' anymore because the knowledge we seek is just a google search or a ChatGPT prompt away. Maybe the educational systems will change in the future. Maybe we don't have to learn tons of information on history, geography, pop culture, even science if we don't need all that information. When and if we need it we can just prompt an AI to teach it to us. Maybe in the future we can choose early on what we want to master and not have to learn a bunch of other useless topics that individual doesn't even need.
The book begins with prioritizing what you want to learn and focus on, what's important, what would give your life the biggest impact. But then a quarter way through it's as if it's not about learning anymore it's about entrepreneurship. Which haphazardly I'm actually okay with because I'm also an entrepreneur, but it's not where I thought this book was going. It should of stuck with what do you want to learn, and master but it really was about what business do you want to create, what eBook do you want to always write, what website do you want to build. I found this a bit weird but it was fine for me.
I spent some time thinking and writing down all the things I wanted to learn about in my head and onto paper. I then applied his matrix Low/High Importance and Low/High Excitement to chart out all my things. I realized I have many low priority/high excitement things lol and not many high priority things.
I loved the part about mastery and it doesn't take a lifetime to master something to the extent you think you want/need it to. Maybe it just takes a solid year. Or if you apply the 'Power 10' then you can get something done and powdered through in a couple weeks.
With mastery comes micro-mastery in which you can divy up a mastery into many components and focus on one at a time and master each one, and take the time it takes.
Since about the time I started listening to podcasts in 2018, I've followed Pat Flynn and the Smart Passive Income (SPI) podcast, and have found him to be genuine, encouraging, and full of grounded but inspirational advice. This book is just what you'd expect! It prioritizes "just in time" learning over "just in case" learning. One of his early bits of advice is to "unsubscribe" from everything that does not serve your immediate purpose. This can mean getting rid of things that are distractions, or saying no to opportunities that don't fit the current big picture, or literally unsubscribe from all the emails that are adding clutter to the inbox. I'm a huge library reader, but I'm glad I own this one because I'll need to revisit from time to time.
A brilliantly-written guide on how to prioritize and achieve your daily goals. I found this book to be absolutely invaluable. A must read for everyone! Lean Learning gives new insights on how to filter research required for projects, learning to distribute priorities, and creating the perfect environment to help achieve goals. The author shares stories perfectly piecing together each chapter up until the end. I appreciated the repetition of key information, and kept me tethered to previous chapters until everything comes full circle. There are so many elements in which creators, business leaders, and even parents can implement to accomplish success! Definitely recommend!

Pat Flynn is a YouTuber and entrepreneur I’ve followed on and off for years. I saw he was coming out with a new book, and he was kind enough to send me an advanced copy, but I just now had a chance to check it out. I had no clue what the book was about, but I like supporting fellow creators, and this book absolutely blew my mind.
I love to learn and am constantly finding new interests, projects, and side hustles. As soon as I started reading this book, I was hooked. Pat brings his years of experience to this book, providing the reader with tips for learning new skills in a smart, efficient way. I love books like this, and I was actually pretty surprised at how good this book was. Pat gives awesome advice about how to learn new skills without burning out or focusing on the wrong things, and I loved it.
This is definitely one of those books that I know I’ll be revisiting in the future.
This is my first self help book I have ever read. It was gifted to me and I decided that in my current reading slump I would try to read something completely out of my comfort zone. And this ended up being one of the first physical books that I've read in a while, yes it did take me almost the whole month of July but I'm still happy about it. I really enjoyed this book, I feel like this was a realistically helpful and informative. Something that I struggle with is overthinking, which leads to me over- researching things before I do them, or before I try new things. And this book really put into perspective how being a over learner can sometimes be holding you back. I was really going page by page and just trying to really pay attention and annotate the things that felt like they resonated with me. I highly recommend this book if you are like me and are a low-key "self help hater". This book made me open to more non fiction.
Ultimately, Lean Learning is a valuable handbook for the modern learner—especially in an age of information overload and attention scarcity. It’s a book that practices what it preaches: efficient, focused, and designed for maximum impact. Highly recommended for entrepreneurs, knowledge workers, and lifelong learners who want to reclaim their time and accelerate their growth.
This book emphasizes how knowing too much can actually lead to procrastination. What matters most is learning by doing. In the digital era, information is everywhere — knowing isn’t the problem, but execution is. It’s definitely a simple and helpful read for anyone who struggles to start something new. The book encourages us to start first, rather than waiting for perfect knowledge.
Riktigt nice bok med många bra saker att ta med. Den här killen är lite av vad jag vill vara, positiv, entreprenör och gör mycket skoj för att det är kul. Vissa kapitel går ut lite länge men generellt bra bok
Such a timely book. With so much going on in the world, I want to keep up with learning about so many issues. This book gives a great perspective and helpful tools for learning anything better and with more purpose
A great audiobook as well. Loved listening to Pat go off script with side quest stories! It’s funny when a message falls on your lap at the right time. Just what I needed to hear when starting my business! Great work Pat!
Flynn says rather than trying to learn everything before starting something new (launching a business, writing a book, etc.), you should learn just enough to get started. This "lean learning" will help you quickly transition to action rather than endlessly thinking.
Not everything needs to be studied. Filter the ideas you take in and focus only on those aligned with your goals and progress. This book reinforces the importance of avoiding overlearning and instead embracing the concept of just-in-time learning.
This was a good book but it was not what I was expecting. The title was misleading. It wasn't as much about learning less as it was about achieving goals and dreams.
