Michelle is a romantic daydreamer and hardcore book collector. Maggie is a soft-spoken bookworm who always gets mistaken for a boy. Anita is an athletic tomboy who doesn't have time for reading. Together, they're the Paper Sisters, three very different siblings united by a strange power. Michelle, Maggie and Anita all have the ability to control paper in any way they desire. And from their Hong Kong detective agency, they solve any and all cases involving books! The much-anticipated follow-up to the hit series Read or Die!
Unfortunately, this was also a dud. There was a decent story in the first couple of chapters, but most of the rest is about the dysfunctional relationship of the three sisters.
in this book the three sisters goes through a lot. first they go hungry because mags bought too many books AGAIN. so Arial gets mad at her but a famous author comes to them for a job. to find his "mentor" another famous author who died but he doesn't think he is dead. so he asks the sisters if they could find him. they do but it turns out he is a she but she just lost the motivation to write. Then Mags and Mich goes out to book stuff over seas and leaves Arial to "hold down the fort" but someone comes to her with a job. she takes it but finds out that she have been deceived. her client is actually a book pirate going after a famous book. but Arial gets revenge and all before her sisters got back.
The Paper Sisters remain just as big bibliomaniacs—well, Michelle and Maggie do. There is more tension this time around and the stories run for longer than in the preceding volume, giving a greater sense of continuity. Theft, heat waves, ghost stories, a new enemy and old acquaintances deck its pages. The sisters remain refreshingly perky, especially the exasperated Anita, who still doesn’t care about books much—although she’s starting to realize the importance they hold for others.
I enjoyed this more than the first book, despite the gratuitous nudity. I hate how sexualized a simple story is. and the whole thing is just...silly. Angry Anita, irresponsible Michelle...the only one I like is Maggie. at least it's a fast read, and I got the book free.
